Aloha dear Annette....Thank you, sweet friend, for your kind words. You make me feel fuzzy, too. I LOVE your stories of your kitties, and your man.... I always chuckle when you have "lost it" and become a little whirlwind of action. I picture you as so tiny, and going like roadrunner through your house making things right.

I thought about you when someone sent me this darling video of a little kitten playing with a big pitbull!! Kitty was in charge, butofcourse! HA .

So glad you are part of this family...you FEEL like family.

Aloha nui loa,

Karen

Congrats to you, Karen, for five years of post-op life. And the job sounds wonderful. Wow, I would love to do something like that. Good for you. You are perfect for that job.

Sorry about your kitchen ... been through that with a bathroom in my old condo. From now on, I rent. I never know what's going to happen with my life anymore. The one time I put down roots, my life got uprooted.

Congratulations to you Karen....I'm very glad that you will still be testing the babies!  You test them and then teachers like me will take care of the rest.
I love reading about your life in Hawaii...SIGH...someday maybe I'll be able to visit Hawaii...till then "we can only dream".
Best of luck with Kaiser, you will be wonderful support for those who have had or will be having WLS!!!!!

Aloha dear Eileen.....You are another of my special "cat people." Love your kitty stories and understand how much our little furbabies contribute to our lives.

Thank you for your words of congrats. I am so very thankful to have been asked to be part of the Maui bariatric program. It is something I have wished for for a long time. I hope I am up to it.

Oh, yes, the kitchen thing is a pain in the okole!! (yes, that is what you think is is....ha). I am trying not to stress too much over it, and should be at the gym right now, but I'm home instead.

Keep up the good work, and I hope your job becomes more satisfying and that your life is full of good things from today forward.

Aloha nui loa,

Karen

Gosh you are missed MK!

I too am absent more than I am present these days. Like you most of the time it is just because of a busy life. I treasure the two in person visits we have had and would love to see you on the "east side" of the Pacific one of these days!

Congratualtions on all sides. Without your renewed health from WLS neither of your jobs would have been possible would they? I know testing babies renews your spirit and the Kaiser job is the answer to some very powerful wishful thinking the past few years isn't it? You will be a wonderful addition to the staff bringing so much kindness, understanding, support, and experience. They are very lucky to have found you right under their noses!

I know that "paradise" is a very expensive place to live so I'm delighted that this job will enable you to stay right where you are. You are such a beautiful soul inside and out. I feel honored to have the priviledge of knowing you.

I never take for granted the new friendships that have been formed because of our common search for renewed health following many years of mental, physical, and emotional pain. Like the saying goes "there is a silver lining!"

Consider yourself hugged until it takes your breath away!!!

Aloha my dear friend, Karen.... You I have missed a lot!!! I always read your posts and try to keep up. You live a busy, busy life, woman, and I sometimes envy your closeness with your little ones. But I am so happy for you.

I, too, cherish our two in-person meetings here on Maui. I could feel your genuine caring and energy. You are very special...and I hope you realize that. I love how you share some innermost feelings on here, because I struggle with many of the same things you do, but don't often say them out loud (so to speak).

The new position with Kaiser will be awesome, and I am so very very thankful that this happened when it did. Right now I am just anticipating what will be involved, but I know they are expanding the bariatric program here on Maui to include a lot of classes, and post-op support groups, and individual therapy. That someone remembered that I have asked to be a part of this team and called me, still almost moves me to tears. I know you will understand that.

Sending that breath-taking hug back to you. So wonderful that I actually got to hug you in person!! Hope we get to do it again one day. Sure wish I could be at that get together in August........I will be there in spirit, for sure for sure.

Aloha nui loa,

Karen (MK)

Karen,

Congratulations! How wonderful for you to be at this significant milestone.

From reading your incredibly positive posts, I can imagine that you will be excellent in your new role. Our psyc is wonderful, but I always think the journey is enhanced when you have someone who has traveled the same road, stumbling over the same rocks, picking the same flowers, along the way. I am so happy for the folks with whom you will be working!

All happiness,

Sheila
