Saturday
Today I need to clean as my niece & her family should be here tonight.
Morgan update, she had her first chemo yesterday. She stayed in the hospitol & her dad & sister stayed with her. From my own experence you get sick the next day or so. Last time she went through this they sent her home & within 48 hrs. she was back with an infection. I hope & pray it's not as bad this time.
Thanks again for all your prayers. Have a wonderful & funfilled weekend!!!!

Things are sunny this morning in Maine. We're supposed to have rain for most of the weekend but maybe the weather people made a mistake.
My recovery has been uneventful so far and I'm not complaining. Brunhilda (new stomach) definately doesn't like cold drinks at this point. She is very communicative if I swallow too much at once. Some gas pains now and then but nothing compared to during the preop liquid diet.
Yesterday my cousin and I drove to town. We went out to lunch. I had a bowl of Italian Roasted Garlic Soup which I dearly love. Brought home half of it. So a life lesson was learned even though my brain thinks I want a bowl a cup would have been sufficient. Struggled a bit when they delivered hot rolls to the table but fought the urge. Cousin ate for me and I told her to describe the feeling of eating the roll to me. She used to do that with me when I ate cherries. She's deathly allergic to cherries so it kills her to watch me eat them during the summer. She had my favorite desert too and expressed guilt about eating in front of me. I told her not to worry about it as I am really not hungry.
I'm going to have to work harder at listening to body for hunger signals rather than eating from habit. At this point, I'm going to start the day with some protein and then focus on hydration for the remainder of the day. Tried some pudding made with soy milk yesterday and Brunhilda didn't mind that. Jello however was not enjoyed by Brunhilda so it went back into the frig. I'm also still adjusting to swallowing pills one at a time and spaced out as I usually would toss them into my mouth and take a large drink.
Thoughts go out to Julia during this time. I have another friend who is going through similar event with her father.
Congrats Monica on another day of sobriety. You should be really proud of yourself. I too share your concerns and thoughts for the families of the 31 killed in Afghanistan today.
Cindy sorry you're suffering from the adhesions. Hope they get it straightened out soon.
Vickie- Congrats on finding the dress in the "normal" sizes. Sounds like it's beautiful. Have DH take a picture of you in the getup and post it on FB for us to admire you.
Have a great weekend everyone and try to stay as cool as possible.

I never had problems with cold liquids or hot liquids, either. But sometimes if something feels stuck or I don't feel well, a cup of peppermint tea will help with the gas or sick feeling.
You can try mixing a tasteless protein in with your pudding.
Good morning everyone!
Oh, I am having major computer woes this week (shade of Monica!) and I would just like to chunk them all out the window and start over again. Since I can't afford to do that, I guess I'll have to struggle along with my poor pea brain, trying to solve the problems! LOL!
Oldest daughter came home for the weekend yesterday. So happy to see her! She finished her first year oral exams (working on her Ph.D.) and came home for some much needed Mom and Pop pampering! We are all going to that blasted outdoor wedding this evening. Need to leave here around 1 p.m. Going to meet up with DH's family in College Station for an early dinner this evening, and then on to the wedding at 7 p.m. I'm very proud to have a new dress in SIZE 18 to wear today. Just wish my arms were in better shape, but I'm not wearing sleeves in this heat for nothing or nobody.
So, lots to do this morning. Better get to it. Happy Saturday and a good weekend to all!
