Hey y'all, what's happenin'?

Just sitting here about 2 a.m. watching my recording of the White Sox game. Juliette is snuggled next to me on the footrest of my recliner. I got home from work after 12:30 a.m.; brutal night, none of my stories were fitting where I put them, had to move things around several times.

So I'm a bit tired and achy, but OK otherwise. Think maybe I should go to bed soon. Anyway, what's up with y'all? I'll check back later.

Good morning Eileen & all to follow.

Got up, turned on the coffee, looked outside, and WOW - on the back lawn there were 4 adults and about a dozen baby turkeys. It seems late in the year for such little babies.

All excited I woke Tom. Hmm - a herd of turkey's? A flock? A gaggle? Doesn't matter, just a WHOLE BUNCH of the big birds.

Kisses

Good mornin' ya'll.
This is a do nothing Sunday. I'm sure I won't see boys for BLT Sunday til late, since they went to some party or other last night.
I have washed, sorted through, marked and packed tightly all of the things our grandson brought back from the Military Summer Camp in VA and that he will need for his Junior Year at the Military Academy in SC.
Our son has found out he needs surgery from his elbow to his wrist. When that is healed they will do his hand again. His fingers are pulling in and he can't straighten them. This is because the tendons in his hand have tighten up. He had this surgery about 5 years ago, and now it is back, nearly as bad. They are gonna inject something or other into the bulging disc in his back and do some other stuff in there to try to relieve his pain. They still haven't addressed the shoulder issue. If he needs a new one, a rotator cuff or some other repair. He turns 45 tomorrow! Almost 28 years of Marine PT and other activities have taken a toll on his body!!
We had some major thunderstorms yesterday and LOTS of rain! Not nearly as bad as Charlotte. But our backyard is a swamp again, usual after a big rain.
Everyone who needs prayers - I am thinking of you and adding my prayers for you. For all of you with any kind of stress in your lives from: family, finances, jobs, births, deaths, weddings, pets, weather, health, neighbors, weight, etc. I am thinking of you.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good Morning Eileen and OFF-

The weatherman blew it yesterday and we did not get the rain forecast.  It was beautifully sunny all day and got quiet warm.  Spent a large part of the day on the screened porch watching the fishermen on the lake.

My cousin is still here with me.  She brought her cat with her and we have been trying to introduce the two cats.  Unfortunately, Sylvester is not having any of this and has become quite territorial.  So for part of the day yesterday Sylvester stayed inside while Darling was on the screen porch.  Sylvester was quite put out and standoffish for a while but eventually ended up parked on the foot rest of my recliner like your Juliette Eileen.

I spent the afternoon finalizing the design of a retirement quilt that I will be making for a friend of mine who is retiring at the end of September.  He has spent 30 plus years working for the Fish and Wildlife Service helping with the recovery of whooping cranes.  The quilt is going to be mostly black and white with some touches of rust and red.  I tried to draw it out for my cousin while still on pain meds in the hospital.   Yesterday while sober I redid the drawing and selected the fabrics I will use.  I have 12 totes full of fabric that I have purchased since retiring in 2001.  3 or 4 of those totes are oriental fabrics that I dearly love.  I don't quilt enough and hope that this quilt will spark the desire again.  I usually take one or two projects with me for the winter while in Texas.

While sitting on the porch yesterday I saw the local bald eagle fishing right in front of my cabin.  That's the first time I have seen it this year and I share your delight of the turkeys, Annette.

Finished the first sock that I was knitting and have started on the second one.  I'm so proud of myself for working on my knitting and coming back to it after all these years.  Only 2 totes of yarn and planning to keep it that way.  Knitting is something that I have to keep to knitting for gifts.  Quilting on the otherhand I can do and sell.  I've already sold two of my quilts.  I have several wall hangings that I need to complete and put up for sale as well.  Maybe I'll get serious and try Etsy someday.  It's a little hard when you live in two places.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

I am a knitter and sewer, too.  I have my own stash of yarn and material.  I think that it multiplies when I'm not looking!
I'd love to see some of your pictures of your wall hangings, quilts, etc.  Please post some here.

My SIL quilts and is quite good. She has made quilts for my nephew's wedding and their recent baby, and my niece's babies, her kids' babies ... she made me a small quilt hanging that I put my collectible pins on.

The only crafts I was really good at was ceramics, and I haven't done it for awhile because I don't have room for the stuff I make and my family doesn't want any more.

Good Morning Eileen and all of the rest of you warm and beautiful women. I am in the midst of planning my Mom's memorial service. I'm cranking right along, taking time off to cry as needed. The service will be small as my Mom was 85 and her friends had dwindled. Actually her family has also dwindled- she had lost a child, a grandson and several husbands and boyfriends. So the gathering will be made up of a brother, three children, one grandchild, a few friends and the rest will be friends of myself and my brothers.
My life is revolving around this right now. I know I sound like a broken record but nothing else is important to me right now. Thank you to all of you that have been kind to me these days and expressed your sympathy.
Julia
