Sunday- what's going on there?
Oh, Pat! What an adventure on-line dating must be! (Not saying if it's a good adventure! LOL!) Listen, hon, men are notoriously shallow-minded when it comes to women and their looks. They all want a goddess when they're no Adonis themselves. I'm sure the others are right. It must take awhile to separate the wheat from the chaff (to use a biblical analogy that I'm sure you're familiar with). Or, as my mom used to tell me, "Before you meet your handsome prince, you have to kiss a lot of toads!"
I think you have a lovely smile and beautifully kind eyes. If the men on-line can't see that, then they're all POOPHEADS!

Good morning Nancy B and OFF,
Up this morning, trying to get some word of the East Coast, Irene and all our OFF family. Information flow down here at this lake house is very limited! We only get one local channel on the TV here. Still, between TV, FB and OFF, I'm getting the sense that everyone has hopefully weathered the storm without too much damage. I hope that holds true thoughout the rest of the day.
We have had a very relaxing weekend here at the lake. Didn't get a whole heck of a lot accomplished, but that's okay. Hubby got to spend some time with his family (several of whom have lakehouses down here, too), and that makes him happy. He's gone so much with working overseas, that he doesn't often get to spend time with his brothers.
Me? I read a Nook book and took a couple of naps. Very relaxing down time.
Tomorrow it will be super busy. Got my 6-month checkup with my WL surgeon tomorrow morning in Houston at 10:30 a.m. That means we will have to be up EARLY and get on the road ASAP in the morning. Then I'll drop hubby at the airport tomorrow afternoon and he'll be off again for another month. Can't believe it's already time for him to go to work again.
Love and prayers for well-being to all!

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:
91 degrees and it feels like 97 here in northeastern Louisiana, not a cloud in the sky. Ugh. Hope y'all in the path of Irene are safe and as dry as you can be.
I've been trying to get my brother on Skype; my nephew and his family are in Chicago letting the family meet Alexander, the new member of the Briesch family (almost a year old), so I would like to see them on Skype. Although I've already met my new grandnephew, the little cutie. But Gary hasn't answered ... don't know what's going on there.
Nothing much new here ... I have to work today but I'll be off tomorrow. Last night was grueling ... eight pages, and two of them were very detailed, so my neck was really hurting by the time I got home. I made deadline on all of them, so that was good.
Anyway, that's all from me. Have a good day.

Good afternoon Nancy and everyone.....
Nancy....I love steak....I have always eaten mine rare so it never bothers me...we may have to grill some before I go to MN on Wednesday....YUM!
I am glad everyone is safe so far with Irene. I have so many friends on the coast and have been so worried about them. Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
I had to take care of Grace this morning as Jamie had to work. Grace slept in until 10 AM....she was exhausted from being at her dad's. Jamie only worked until about noon. By the time I gave Grace breakfast and got her ready for the day Jamie was home. I then spent sometime with Nic. Now it is ME time!!
Nothing planned....might just go out for a drive...maybe stop at WalMart. I need to get my exercise on the Elliptical in yet too.
Hope you all have a fun Sunday. Prayers for those in need.
Love and hugs to all......connie d

Greetings Nancy and OFF Family,
I finally got my electricity back on around 3:00 p.m. We lost power in the middle of the night, and it was throughout the region. My sister got her power back around 1:30 this afternoon. I was getting anxious because of my upcoming move on Saturday. It is also disorienting, because so much of my routine is dependent on electricity. I could not open the fridge much, because I did not want my perishables to spoil.
I took Utley down by the river this morning. It had flooded during the night, but was back down within its banks when I took him. I took a short ride to the other side of my town to see if a convenience store was open, because I needed a cup of coffee, and wanted to buy a newspaper. It was closed. No power.
As far as I know, my kids are all safe. My older son, Chris, lives in Queens, New York, but spent this weekend in Seattle with his wife. She is the actress performing in Les Miserables on tour. Last night, she had the chance to play Fantine, the lead for which she is understudy. She was thrilled that she got to perform that role with Chris in the audience.
My daughter, Colleen, in Michigan, called me this morning to check on me. She also told me that her husband sprained his ankle playing softball yesterday.
I packed some boxes today. Not much, because my bedroom which needs a lot of packing still, was dark. I have room darkening curtains in there, and they are hung precariously, so I don't touch them. I will take them down the day before I move, because I need my room darkened in the afternoons, or the sun just bakes my room, and it never cools in the evening to sleep.
Sorry to babble.
Hope everyone else is safe.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Hi everyone
What a beautiful day here!!
It is warm, sunny and dry and I have most of the windows open to let in the clean, fresh air.
I am starting back to work tomorrow.
It's been a great summer as far as getting things done around the house, but employment and money are calling my name. I love my job, but I always feel some anxiety before starting the semester. Today I was up at 6:30 with the dogs and immediately got on the computer to prepare some handouts for my students. I'm feeling good about the work. (if you knew me you would know that I go to bed closer to 6 am)
I am teaching three sociology courses this term. One is based on crime and the victims of crime. I have much to do to get ready for the course, but I think that I will love teaching it.
A homicide was committed here a few years ago - murders are very rare here, and homicides in general in Canada have gone down to what they were in the 1970s. The homicide here was of a young woman killed by her brother. I know the family and there has been a film made about the family and the son who has never really admitted that he purposefully killed his sister. It was a tragic situation for a good family. Anyway, the parents are supportive of their son - he is the only child that they have left. The pain will always be with them, but they love their son and will not disown him. I support them in their decision as I understand how hard it must be on them as the parents of one child who has killed the other.
Anyway, I am going to show the video to my class and the mother has agreed to come to my class to discuss how she and her husband have coped and how this situation has impacted them and their families as victims of the crime. I love bringing people into my classes so that the students have a chance of learning from people directly involved. It makes for a wonderful learning experience.
I am attending a day-long meeting and lunch tomorrow at the main campus and don't teach until the day after Labour Day, so I still have some time left to smell the roses - what's left of them after the heat of the summer!
Have a happy day and I hope that no one was seriously impacted by the hurricane.
