Aloha friend.......You are doing great!! I have been following your tale with great interest and lots of belly laughs. I am not chuckling at your pain....just your delightful way of sharing with us while slightly "altered" with those oh so wonderful pain meds. Your refusal to get down by these things always inspires me.

Aloha to all in OFF, too. I am in and out of here, and very much miss the friendship on a daily basis. What a group of crazy, fun, supportive and loving group of friends!!

Monica.....I am so happy for you with your continued sobriety. That is not easy, but oh so rewarding...much like WLS!! Keep up thye great work.

Big hug coming to all the rest of you. Life here on Maui is busy and always available for me to just open my eyes and experience serenity and gratitude. Sometimes though I am too busy in my head to "SEE" and appreciate what is right in front of my face.

With so much aloha,

Maui Karen

Shirley,

Yesterday 6 days post op I finally managed to have a BM. That helped a lot. My legs are more swollen today. Both legs all the way down to feet.Weight is up by 5 lbs from yesterday post BM. They told me to move around. Am I moving too much? I elevate in a recliner when I'm down. Tomorrow is my followup in Seattle. I've had very small amounts of drainage in my two drains compared to my lower body lift with  3 drains.

They removed 8 lbs this time; lower body lift removed 17. My hands and face are NOT retaining fluids. Anything I can do to speed up the fluid loss process? I am drinking all day long. Mostley water and ice tea. I'll be riding in the car for 5 hours back to Seattle. We stop and get and walk but I'm sure that won't help a lot. How long did your leg swelling last? Thanks for your post. Just knowing that you had bad swelling helps to reassure me that I'm not going to"implode."

    Good mornin' ya'll.
Our final damage from Irene. We have 2 weeping willows down, an arborvitie tipped, the cover off of one of our

sheds. We were without power for 34 hours, we rented a generator to run rhe fridge and freezer. We originally heard we had gotten 20" of rain, but our area got only 13". The wind and rain roared for about 26 hours. The wind did the most damage here, but the coast had way lots of water damage. Our son lost one tree which took out part of his fence, his yard and pool had lots more debris than we had. But he was only out of power for about 4 or 5 hours. He has 2 more trees that are weakened and look like they might come down. He will try to get someone to come and remove them. The tree that is down is in such a position that if it is cut the
top part will snap up and somone will get hurt, so he will let someone else do that, too.

We are safe, our house is safe and we have everything we need.

We were blessed!

I hope Kristi went somewhere safe!

I pray for all of those with worse damage and still have no power!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Carolyn,

Happy to hear from you. Did Kristi live in an area that was evacuated? Hope it doesn't get real hot again soon. I'm sure everyone needs some recovery time and it would make it easier if not boiling hot wouldn't it?

Any idea when  you'll be in the Portland area again? Sure would love to meet up with you in person one of these days. I already feel like I know you.

Karen, we are back to normal here. I think Kristi lives on the outer banks. She would either evacuate or hunker down with no electricity. Our son is waiting for a tree guy to give him an estimate for removal of his downed tree, then he'll come down here to tell us if either of our willows can be saved, and if not, how much to get rid of them.
I'm not sure when I'll be back to OR. With the grandson in military school on this coast and our granddaughter getting older, I won't be needed for babysitting. And since they all come here for a week or so in the summer, no reason for me to go out there, really.
I would like to meet you in person as well. I'd like to meet everyone on here to be able to put a living breathing face to everyone!

Morning Karen, and all to follow.
Glad to hear you are some better -- that swelling can be a booger -- my foot is still swelling a bit after almost six weeks.  I'd love to have my "thunder" thighs operated on, but it would be a major job for the surgeon  and I'm sure as painful as you say.

Had a nice weekend - for a change was able to get out and about yesterday.  Sis and I went to Menards about 25 miles away and I got a new Hunter ceiling fan for my bedroom.  We had a nice lunch at Applebee's -- their weigh****cher menu is great, altho' there weren't many tiny shrimp on my Spinach/Shrimp Salad.

Off to work this morning -- hard to believe only 3 days left of August....time sure flies doesn't it?

Prayers and best wishes for all,

Good morning all,

All we got was rain and a bit of gusty wind. Not bad at all. The after effects = it is 48* and COLD! We can deal with that.

A few years ago we replaced the picture window with a bay window. It was my dream to fill it with plants. That dream came true until I started adopting all these black cats. They thought the plants were their own personal jungle, aka litter box.

Plants went away and I put other pleasing things in the window. Along came Baxter. Yippee - chew toys.

All that stuff has been replaced. Now there are four little beds in the bay window. It is kind of neat to drive home and see those little black faces staring at me. Not exactly how I planned to decorate ... but oh well, the furbrats rule.
