Mag-

Know what you are going through with the smoking.  I quit 19 years ago.  Then while living in France I started again.  I've been smoke free for 9 years again.  It's hard giving up our addictions but smoking is one that is harder than most.  Look at it this way, you need to quit because you're going to have surgery soon on that knee.  Smoking increases your risks of complications and slow healing.

Suspect your dry hacking cough is related to smoking and also the dusty weather that AZ has had this summer.  I took my motorhome out of storage and everything is covered with a film of dust.

My Mom had two knee replacements in 2000 about 6 months apart.  They were able to arrange for physical therapy to come to her home the first few weeks.  Maybe you can work something out!

Anyway, positive thoughts to you on the smoking feel free to send me a PM if you need additional support.

Hi Laureen and my OFF family:

You're probably already off work ... I'm off today and didn't get out of bed til almost noon. I've been dragging all day. I woke up with a headache and then realized I didn't have any Imitrex left. Thought I had a whole bottle. I don't have any money left, so I am just suffering along. Aarrgh.

I keep hearing of more people who were laid off by my former newspaper. God, it's depressing. I finally sat down and wrote out my feelings about being laid off. It was rather freeing.

About the only thing I've done today has been three loads of laundry. I do have to run out and mail a couple of things out, take garbage to the dumpster and pick up mail. That's about it. Hopefully, my headache will be gone because driving will make it worse. It's chilly out ... need my jeans washed before I can go out. They're in the dryer now.

Well, have a good day.

Hello, everyone!

Here it is, almost 6 pm already. I was up early to drive into the city..had an appointment with my family doctor to renew some prescriptions and to get my flu shot for the winter. I am still covered by the pneumonia shot which needs to be redone only every ten years.  With my  albeit mild asthma,  the doctor feels it's best for me to have those shots. Especially now when, after surgery followed by radiation treatments, my immune system will be compromised.

I stopped to pick up some last minutes necessities at  Shoppers Drug Mart and headed home the long way because the sun was shining and I enjoyed crossing the Welland Ship Canal bridge and driving thru the countryside and seeing all the colours.

JB made me a piece of toast with an egg and then I laid down for a wee nap...opps..slept two full hours and would have slept more if he and LilyRose hadn't some up to check on me...lol. Of course, SillyRose "checks" on me by SITTING on me. So much for an extended nap *s*

Right now, LilyRose sits under my chair...funny how animals can sense something is not right.  She is finally over her flea issues...thank goodness for that. I hope that JB learned a lesson about bringing in outside cats no matter how sweet and adorably cuddly they are.

Tomorrow I am having lunch with one of my oldest friends...she and I go way back...we are exactly two days apart in age and she was my sons' grade five French teacher...considering the boys are now 36 and 33, that shows just how long we have been close friends.

I seem to be living a very quiet life right now..no classes, no meetings, it's all very strange. Another friend dropped off some good novels yesterday so I have plenty to read..some for entertainment, and some of my own research books, as well, to make me think.  I rarely get a chance to read "for fun" so this will be a nice change.

Amazing that November is here already. Derek (younger son still living at home because I keep cooking with cheese) is already under contract  for his business plazas so he is ready for snow. fortunately I have already had several friends volunteer to drive me to Hamilton to the cancer centre for my daily radiation treatments for five weeks.  JB will take me mostly but if he is working night shift with Derek, I will need help getting there..it's an hour's drive at the least. I am so grateful for so many supportive family and friends. I even got a wonderful email from of JB's cousins in Holland...he is a pilot for the Dutch Airlines but also a singer and has a CD coming out in December. He has promised a copy of his new CD for me, autographed,  and dedicated a song to me! How sweet is that!?

I am blessed many times over!

Nancy B
