Nancy, you know all of us will be with you in spirit today. You go fight like a girl, Honey!!!

Not much going on here. Working for a few hours and then hopefully a stop at the gym before heading home. BIG storms due to hit around the drive home tonight, so I want to get tucked in before they come.

Hope everyone has a great day. Special thoughts to Nancy and Nan and all those who are having rough spells. Remember, we're here with you!

Susan

Haven't been able to post in a while.  I have been extremely busy with work at the college. All I seem to do  is prepare, teach, mark,  prepare,  teach, mark.  I haven't had much time for anything else.  I have new courses that I am teaching, so that means more time spent doing just about everything.  I remember my dad telling me not to wish my life away; however, I am sure wishing for the end of this term and a little down time.

I'm another cancer survivor with issues.  I've had two mammograms lately on the breast in which I had cancer and I have to go back for a third.    No one is really sure what or if anything is going wrong, but we're keeping an eye on things.   Que sera, sera.
I saw a movie last night called Whistleblower about the sex slaves in Bosnia in which the very people who are sent there to help get things back to "normal" (working for the UN) are involved.  the movie made me think about all of the women and children who are bought, used and sold by the men who can get away with it.    Rachel Weisz and Vanessa Redgrave were in it and it was a powerful movie. At the end of the film, most of the audience sat and didn't move until after the credits were finished.   My question after seeing the movie was "What can I do to change things?"  I teach sociology and therefore make students aware, but  I would like to do more.  I think that that will have to wait until my retirement in a year or two.  If you have a chance, and can stand the sadness and frustration, see the movie.  It made me, yet again, very glad to live in Canada.

well, I need to get ready for my day.  I wish all of you a meaningful and good day.

 Nancy,
You have my prayers for the surgeons to have guided hands to do their work, and for healing.

Yesterday, I made my meeting and went to the doctor's for my B12, and he wants a CT scan of my sinuses done.  I have had two surgeries, one for polyps, ages ago.  Today, I need to get to my AA meeting and get my foot x-rayed for the podiatrist who did my surgery.

I started a good book last night, fiction, about the mail order brides to the Northwest in the 1860s. The title escapes me this minute, but I got it from my Christian book club, Crossings.   I have been reading biographies and nonfiction spiritual stuff up until now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Huggles,
Trish

Good morning, Nancy B, and all my OFF sistas!

Nancy, thoughts and prayers are with you today.  Such a powerful positive attitude!  You shall carry the day, my friend.  I have no doubt.

Laureen, congrats on winning the contest with your pumpkin cheesecake!  How fun!

Hurray for Judy and Rick, who are finally going to be able to move away from the elephants, the druggies, and the nutcases!  Not to mention getting Judy away from all those night closings!  Judy, I can just see you as an apartment manager.  You will be caring and helpful and a real asset to your new tenants!

Nan, thinking about you as you finish your radiation treatments soon, and praying for you daily!  You, too, shall carry the day!

Mag, so glad that you will get to move forward with your surgery.  Hope you are able to rest and heal both before and after surgery for the best possible outcome.

Trish, hope you are feeling better today!

And to everyone else who is facing a challenge today, I am sending you good thoughts and prayers.

So, today I am feeling a huge sense of relief.  I was finally able to pass all my treasurer duties off to the new treasurer yesterday!  I got to her office around 1:30 p.m. and I didn't leave until nearly 5 p.m., but it was worth it.  I was able to show her almost everything, and we had time to train and she was able to do several examples on her own before I left.  Whew!  I'm done with that.  I might have to field a few phone calls, but I am so glad to hand that job off to someone else!

My term on the Board is not up until next May, but now I am only responsible for the quarterly newsletter and the website.  I can handle those things from anywhere.  Have computer, will travel!  LOL!

My mom and I were supposed to leave for San Antonio today, but I called her and begged off until tomorrow.  I have so much packing to do, and I need to make another batch of dog food before we go, etc.  There's no way we could have left here before early afternoon, and all those bad storms from Oklahoma are headed our way today.  I'd rather wait and leave early tomorrow morning after the front passes through our area and the weather is clear again.

There's an ominous feel to the air here this morning.  You can tell something big is coming this way.

So, that's it from East Texas today.  Not much news to report, but happy to be kicking around today, packing and straightening up the house.  SO ready to see my little Benny tomorrow!  This Mimi needs her Benny-fix!

Love you all!

Morning Nancy and OFF family!!!

Nancy my prayers and thoughts are with you today and the days to follow for your recovery!!! God be with you my friend!!! (((Nancy)))

Well the elephants were stomping around last night being little pouty children because they were caught with pot and their music too loud...boohooohoooo!!!! All I can say is thank God it will be over with soonfor us to be leaving here and not having anyone near us to make noise to bother us again like that!!! Just have to worry about the seniors and handicap if they fall or have a medical problem and they set their alarms off and we have to get to them before 911 gets there because if they can't get in the apartment they will kick in the door and then we will have a big problem to fix!!! So that is about all that excitement that we were told happens there. Not to bad then...I hope!!

Ricks mom called and asked him if he would be able to use my car tonight to take her to Joe's. (her other son) He said no because I had to work. She then asked him if he would ask me if I would take her last night to Joe's. I said hell no!!!!!!!! Later on I asked him what she had to go there for. He said she got some free food from the food bank and she wanted to take some to him and Angel!!! I said OH HELL NO!!!!!!!!!! What in the hell is the matter with that woman??????? She gets free food and then takes it to Joe and his Angel guy friend? They don't need it!!!! She needs to stay home and take care of her own business!!!!!!!! I am soooo glad we will be getting the hell away from her soon!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! Can you believe her?????? DAM!!!!!!!! She can't do anything for Rick but yet she does everything possible for Joe!!!!! Makes me sick!!! She needs things done she calls Rick. NEVER Joe!!!!!!!!! Never!!!!!!! OK I will stop just making my BP go up....this woman makes my blood boil!!!!!!!!!!

Anyhow the weather here is nice today...61* so far and might be seeing 70*?? NICE!!! But i work 1-9 today. Yuck!!!! BUT 8 more days to do...YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!! LOL But who is counting? ME ME ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doing a load of clothes so need to go check on those soon. Also Bandit needs to go for a walk. Hate taking him out...loads of fleas out there!!! GRRRRR I do have him on flea meds so thats good but still fleas get on him every time he goes outside!!!!

Judy,

Oh, those darn fleas!  I have recently learned that you can bathe your dog with Lemon Joy or Dawn dishsoap, and both of those will kill the existing fleas on your dog.  They don't kill flea eggs, so you do have to continue to use the flea meds, but both of these soaps will kill existing adult fleas.  Good to know, huh?  Much cheaper than flea shampoo.

Also, I don't know what heart worm med you have Bandit on, but I switched to Sentinel last year.  I used to use Tri-heart, but Sentinel will also kill fleas!  It takes about 3 months for the full effect, but I give Lulu and Patty Kate a Sentinel tab every 30 days and it has really helped with the fleas.

Of course, I still have to worry about those darn ticks!  Country living, you know!

You think little Bandit will like his new home?  I am still so happy for you and your news!  I smile every time I think of it!

Yeah I knew about that already Vic, and if you start on the body the fleas will go to the head to get away from the soap and then you can get them all at once on the head!!! HEEHEEHEEE!!!! And also you can put a night light on a lower outlet and a bowl of water with some dish soap in it and at  night the fleas will jump at the light and fall into the water and drown in the soapy water!! :-) Cool huh?? My aunt told me about that one!!

I am going to change the heart worm medication for Bandit when this one runs out because we will be in farm country then and will try the flea medication with it and see how it works out. I use Frontline now for fleas. And Heartguard for heartworm.

I hope he will like his new home!! The windows will be higher so he won't be able to look out anymore..:-( but he will have lots of people to greet!!! He will love that!!!

Now we have to think about carpet or hardwood flooring...hmmmmmmm what would you do?? Its cold here in the winter...decisions decisions....lol.
