Wakeful Wednesday what up in your world
Its barely morning, It should be night! but I'm on an insomnia chain which means I don't sleep! for weeks. Oh well I hadn't better complain much. With so many of you facing serious health issues and other things, I guess a few lost hrs sleep is doable.
I am sitting here laughing so hard; and playing fetch, with a cat!!!!
I have a 6 month old gigantic yellow and white fuzz ball, prettiest cat you have ever seen and he fetches! I toss a 1/2 oz of stuffed felt shaped like a huge fat mouse and this stupid animal chases it and brings it back to me! and wants me to toss it again! Its so funny Until this afternoon when he brought me a new treasure a real mouse! alive! eeeekkkkk!!!!! I hate mice! My scream woke sleeping hubby to come running to my rescue!! Then he laughed his head off instead of rescuing me! The big meany!!! the fuzz ball and I had a looonnnnggggg talk about what is appropriate for toys for fetch!
Off to change the dvd and find a book to read until I don't sleep all night!!
Prayers for all who need them or just want them!!!! JO
Christmas shopping is non-existent for me..I have Dutch chocolate initials for all seven, and peppernotjes(ginger cookie buttons), specuulass (gingerbread doll cookies) and of course the traditional puff pastry Christmas ring cake filled with almond paste…managed to find DARK and WHITE chocolate initials for Derek’s Kathy since she is gluten and lactose-intolerant.
I also bought seven chocolate oranges (mint chocolate for Amy, dark for Kathy, white for JB, milk chocolate for the rest…all tradional. I need seven rubbermain boxes with snap-on lides..these I fill with all stocking stuffers, new toothbrushes and tooth pastes, underwear, sox, flavoured coffees, hot chocolate, cup-a-soup, new combs, hairbrushes, highlighters, pens, CD blanks, labels, office supplies, lip gloss, aloe verra gel for chapped hands and lips, sea salt bath salts,(yes, men too), of course chocolate gold coins for financial growth, gift cards for TIM HORTONS (a Canadian coffee chain)…stuff like that. Then they each get gift certificates..this gal is NOT hitting the crowds…Dan gets a Gift certificate from the airport/Flying club so he can buy more hours in the air-renting a plane to fly, Amy gets a gift certificate for Reitmens (a classy clothing store she likes), Kathy, having just moved to her apartment, get a gift certificate for HomeSense, Derek gets “Princess Auto-a MAN’s toy store) and JB gets ice wine that he loves. And that’s it! That's my plan of attack.
I am so very grateful that Kathy, Derek’s lady, of over a year, has moved into the house next door..the house is used as a “summer house” by a couple/family from Toronto and they are rarely there so the bi-level always looks empty. Living in the boonies, this is NOT a good thing. So Derek made a deal, he would cut the extensive grass lawns, plow the driveways, bush-hog the apple orchards, pick up the papers and keep the house looking lived-in and in exchange, he uses their barn for his machine shop for his business.
The owners had closed off the bottom floor and made it into an apartment of sorts so Kathy (she was once Miss Polonia..the Polish Club Queen) moved in there. She is also a professional chef and has kept me supplied with the most incredible soups! She insists on making Christmas dinner at her place for our family and hers…YAYYY! Deep-fried turkey, roasted turkey, three kinds of stuffing and who knows what else? Her father is Polish but raised in France (so he speaks Polish at home but with a French accent) so fresh bread is essential as is cheese after every meal. I will pay for the turkeys and make one kind of stuffing and bring some good Dutch cheeses and a fruit tray for after dinner…oh..and wine. Well this should be a lot of fun. She got such a kick out of all of Derek's cousins at the party..and that was only JB's mother's side...lol..wait til she sees mine!
Jo, our LilyRose aka, SillyRose, aka BoogerNose(has a black spot on her nose) and aka Hosey also loves woollen balls, will chase and return them to our feet and sit and chirp until we notice.
Well, I'm over-ready for bed now...wishing comfort and courage to those facing challenges. Just wanted you all to know that I'm behaving..sort of.

It was a foggy night when I got off work ... kinda fit my mood ... sports editor is trying very hard to confuse me lately.
We are so short handed and soon to be even more so. We had three people working on two papers tonight, and then no one was scheduled to do sports on another paper. ... ah well, pretty soon it won't matter to me. Just waiting to hear on the drug test. Hopefully today. I'm ready to be gone. Don't know how I'm going to do it, but I will be gone somehow.
Time for bed. Have a good day .. be up later.
When my kids were little, we had a crazy hunter cat that brought us everything, mice, baby rabbits, squirrels, and one a live bird. What a sigh****ching him try to catch it, in the house. Lamps were being knocked over, and curtains were almost pulled down. We had to seclude the cat and get the bird and set it free, and keep Pepper, the cat, indoors for a few days to let the bird make a get away.
Last night, I wrote a letter to God, asking a lot of questions, and telling Him how I feel about the death of my Dad and brothers. I do my better praying when I journal a letter to Him.
Today, I am picking up a friend at the garage, and then heading into Philadelphia for some yummy kielbasi made at a Polish butcher shop. I am going to put it in the freezer for Christmas dinner. I also plan to make stuffed cabbage, and pierogies.
I also have some cookies to bake and to finish Isabel's bedspread as well.
I hope everyone has a blessed day.
Hugs,

Yesterday was ME time. My
DH, our son and our older grandson were all snoring in the family room while 'watching' TV.
I went to get my haircut and a pedi. I went to a newly opened nail place. I was the only customer there!! I went for the Primo pedi whi*****luded a 15 minute massage. I timed her, she spent 30 minutes on my feet and calves. Quite relaxing and fantastic! I'm glad they had no other customers. Then I went to a Fantastic Sam's next door (also new) for a haircut. Looks like Jamie Lee Curtis back when her hair was really short. I really like it. BUT, after I looked at the back this morning, it looks a little 'choppy' back there! After a trip to the Commissary this morning, I'll go back and have her smooth it out.
I also completed updating my family recipe cookbook. When my hard drive crashed awhile back, apparently those files didn't make it to the external hard drive when the Geek Squad tried to fix things. Sooooo, I had to scan all the pages of my old book, type in all the updates, convert the scanned pages to the type of files needed for the book. Print, collate, punch holes and bind. Just took me 2 days!
I hope all of you struggling with all life's issues find peace and positive outcomes.
Have a fantabulous day!
Carolyn...all that talk of your wonderful foods and your cook book makes me jealous that I am NOT in your family going to get one of those books from you!!! Sounds like a GREAT gift to treasure for years to come!!!
Do you have a recipe for a BANANA SPLIT cake? My maintenance guy that is here working for us talks about one all the time and how he LOVES it...want to find a recipe and make one for him.
I also thought about getting that Jamie Lee Curtis hair cut but Rick said it was to short...LOL Hope you like yours!!!
