My husband has an appointment with the new transplant doctor.  I, though, cannot take him because I have four meetings today and two of those meetings are very mandatory and important.  So, my daughter is driving him.  I told her to make him take her shopping for a pair of shoes; she is her mother in every sense but with shoes and purses, we both have the big addiction.

I am meeting with one of the marketing students whose dissertation isn’t going well.  His director called me and said, can you help?  I know about as much about marketing as I do about nuclear physics, but I can help get the thing organized and offer some instruction for writing about the methodology and the literature review.  Tonight, provided my DH is feeling up to it, I’m going to buy me some new pants.  I bought some really nice slacks for work with a jacket that can really be worn for three of my slacks but those slacks no longer fit.  They are bagging in my butt and my thighs and even in the waist.  I weighed at the doctors and have lost like three or four pounds so that doesn’t account for the size shift.  I think it is the weights that I did all through November and December.  I think the weightlifting sort of tightened me up a little.  This has reinforced my decision to keep doing the weights on my own.  I may have work with the trainer around May or so and have him teach me how to use a couple of the other machines but for now the butt, thigh, and arm thing are doing wonders.  And, on a final note, hubby and I went to eat last night.  I try to order fish or shrimp as much as I can because they are easier for me to eat and are a good and fat friendly protein source.  So, I ordered grilled shrimp and asked to replace the rice with lettuce and tomatoes and instead of the fries, I wanted a baked sweet potato.  The cook---damn him—put the salad on top of the rice.  Normally, I would have just picked the lettuce and shrimp off but this pissed me off so much because the food cost a fortune and I substituted and he added the salad and the sweet potato, which meant I was paying for the crap.  I sent it back.  The cook comes out in a huff and started telling me that they do not change the menu.  I looked at him and said, if you don’t, then why do you have substitutions offered on the front of the menu.  He said, we don’t, and I said bring me the menu and he did and at the bottom of the menu in small print it said, substitutions are available only if the substitute is in season.  You have the sweet potato and you have the lettuce.  By then, the manager was involved and she was clearly afraid of the cook but I looked him in the eye and said, either substitute the order the way I asked, or I don’t want any of it.  My husband said, if she doesn’t want her order, I don’t want mine.  So, he refused, and we left and drove over by the university and ate at one off my favorite dives and I got shrimp on lettuce and tomatoes and a baked sweet potato.  Last night, I emailed the restaurant chain and this morning, they sent me an apology and said, we will send you two coupons for a free meal.

Then,  after we ate, we ran over to the mall to get some friendly and warm inside walking and I ran into one of my students from a few semesters back and she walked around the mall with us, which sort of gave us a faster pace.  DH wanted to end our walk with him getting a nice big cookie from the cookie shop but I said, no way.  Hope you are have a good day.  Connie, keep you chin up…things will work out.

Hello Everyone,

Things are going better with my computer. I searched the Norton (free trail) to see what they offer besides the scan. They have registry clean-up section so I ran that. It deleted 200 files. My computer is still a little slow but not acting crazy. Here I am posting again after only a few days. What did we do before the Internet?

     Have a good day.  Mag

Good afternoon Jeannie and everyone....

Jamie, her FRIEND, and Grace just left for Minnesota. Nic and his girlfriend, Abbi left about noon and are driving up through Minneapolis to pick up Kyleigh on the way to St Cloud. Tomorrow is their MN Christmas. Carrie,  Amanda, and Lucas will be there tomorrow as well. (Jamie and Carrie are my daughters/Kyleigh, Nic, Amanda, Lucas, and Grace are my grandchildren)

My plans right now are to do absolutely nothing. I am checking this thread and Facebook . Then I am going to read and take a nap. Tomorrow I plan on doing a lot of packing. I am just too exhausted today. It will be wonderful to have 48 hours to myself! Of course Kippley the dog is with me. I could have insisted they kennel her but I like her here as I feel much safer that way. Kippley is VERY protective!!

Jeannie....I hope the new transplant doctor goes well. It would be awesome if your hubby could get that eye soon. Sounds like you have a very long day ahead!

Carolyn....you are like the little Energizer Bunny. You amaze me!!

Eileen...glad the check finally got there and you won't be evicted!! I don't know to many New Employers would have gone the extra mile for you like they did.

I am sorry to here Trish is in the hospital again. Hope she is feeling better soon. Hugs and many prayers for her.

Vickie and Cindi...enjoy your get together. We will want to see pics of course!!!  Wish I could meet all of you myself.

Karen....so glad you are hanging in there. I know you and your hubby will enjoy those grandchildren and they will love being with you!!

Sorry if I forgot someone....I didn't mean to. You all mean the world to me!!!

Have a really great Friday everyone. Prayers as always for so many of you in need.

Love and hugs to all....connie d

Good mornin', ya'll.
Well, it's Friday the 13th. My DH considers this a good luck day. It is the day he went into the Navy.
We will be babysitting the dogs this weekend. My son and his family are headed to West Virginia. They are also stopping at a college our grandson is looking at. He plays baseball and hopes to get them interested in him.
My DH has been wanting to go to the Outback. They aren't open for lunch, so will have to go for dinner. I don't like to eat heavy too late. But I do love their onion soup and steak!
I hope everyone in distress finds peace and happiness.
Have a fantabulous day!

Good Morning Jeannie and Friends, Some days I hate my computer and this is one of those. Still trying to get my MSN ID email back on line and unblocked. So I can still post here. Just as I was to hit "send" it decided it was time for an update and away my post went.

Nothing exciting going on. Headed to my daughter's to watch the 3 grands while Erin and Josh enjoy a little "stay cation." They'll go out to dinner tonight, (their 5th anniversary: 3 little girls to show for it and lots of memories for Grandma Karen and Papa Mike). Tomorrow afternoon they'll check into a motel in town. We'll take the girls in to the motel for a swim in the afternoon and then head to their favorite sit down, fancy restaurant: the McDonalds that has an indoor play area! Then home for a movie, popcorn, a few stories and hopefully an uneventful bedtime!

Sunday we'll head up to Seattle to see Nate, Kristin and the new "grand puppy" Ellie. . . Maggie is not thrilled about this new addition that wants to play and chew on her!

That's about it. Have a great Friday and weekend everyone. Thanks for always being here!

Good Morning OFF-

Well it's chilly here in the Upper Texas Coast.  There was some ice forming on the puddles this morning and I had to scrape the windshield to get started this monring.

Today I will attack more files and take it kind of easy.  Then I have my three days off.

Sunday Vickie and I are going to try to meet face to face in Livingston, Texas.  It's kind of the half way point between our two locations.  Looking forward to meeting someone from OFF face to face!  Also need some moral support as the scale is not moving to my satisfaction.

So now I will give my time and mental capabilities to the Federal government as a volunteer.  Positive vibes to everyone in need.

Good morning, Jeannie and my OFF sistas!

I see from FB that our Trish is back in the hospital again.  She sure is having a rough go.  I'm sure she will post here as soon as she's able, but just wanted to let everyone know.

Yes, Cindi and I are going to meet this weekend.  I'm excited!  She will be my first OFFer to meet in person.  I am glad we're going this weekend because they have their monthly trade days in Livingston this weekend.  It will give us something else to do beside sit in a restaurant all afternoon.  Cindi, check your messages on FB.  Also, send me your cell #.

Thank you all for your suggestions about cleaning, staging, and selling my house!  You all are so sweet.  I just panicked a little bit yesterday.  But I'm better today.  Prolly 'cause I got enough SLEEP last night.  Geez, I'm such an old woman these days.  I used to could run for days on just a little sleep.  Now if I don't get my 8-10 hours, I turn into a grump-face.

Anyway, I get a little reprieve from all the cleaning today.  Got to take my new car back to the dealership so that they can finish adding on the new trailer hitch and the plug that goes with it.  Dealership is in Lufkin, about 30 minutes away, and since I'm going there, I'll do a little shopping before I come home.  Lufkin has more shopping than we do here.  Those of you who are from big metropolitan areas just cannot imagine how pitiful our shopping choices are here.  In my little town, we have nothing but a Wal Mart and a Lowes.  But in Lufkin, they also have a Target and a Home Depot.  Wow, huh?

Just 5 more days until my hubby comes home!  We call this the downhill slide.  He's been gone since Dec 11th.  I just can't wait for him to get here again.  I miss him so much when he's gone.

Jeannie, I wish you and your husband the best of luck with the new doctor and the eye transplant.  Caroline, I hope your outing to the Outback goes well.  It is fun to go out to eat for a change, especially for someone who cooks as much as you do!  Glad to hear some positive news about your grandson and his GF.  They certainly are lucky to have you in their corner.  Hoping and praying that Eileen gets her check today.  Also that Connie can find a solution to her living situation.  I'm sure there's more, but I can't think right now.

Love you all!

Hi Jeannie and my OFF family:

Yes, I got my check from old employer and also check from new employer. So I can pay my rent and not get evicted. But probably not until Monday because I'm sure the credit union will want to hold onto the check for a couple of days ... it was a sweet check. And to think, next Friday I'll have my vacation check in my old account.

Knocking on my door this morning woke me up ... it was FedEx with my check. I was pretty sound asleep but woke up, yelled for the guy to wait because I had a good idea of who it was. Then I didn't get a chance to open the envelope for a good half hour because I had a major IBS flare. Yuck. I felt like hell for a good hour and a half. Don't know what brought this on. I sat down with a cup of peppermint tea to start the day instead of coffee. It was nearly an hour and a half before I got it all out of me.

We had snow last night, not a whole lot, less than an inch, but I had to buy a scraper (mine was left in the old car). I had brushes but no scraper to get the ice off my windshield. It's also 21 degrees. Forgot how cold I could get.

Found my dishes finally ... bought some flatware at Target for $11 (20-piece set, service for 4, plenty for me). Now I don't have to eat off paper plates with plasticware.

Well, that's my day. Off to work again today. Have a good one. Vickie, I'm glad you and Cindi are getting together. I wish I could be there with you.
