Happy Friday! It's my 8-year Surgiversary!
Good mornin', ya'll.
Eileen, I've missed you girl! A surgiversary is a great reason to come back. You have done a fine job! I know OT is a two edged sword. The money is great, but having to give up your 'down time' is not easy.
I have spent all week canning. I made strawberry freezer jam last month. This week I wanted to make strawberry rhubarb jam. Bought a bunch of strawberries and could find no rhubarb. Sooooo, more strawberry. Not freezer jam this time. I also made peach jam, peach chutney, peach pie filling, honey peaches, strawberry/peach jam. My DH talked me into a bushel of peaches instead of a peck! Some sugar free, some regular jam. Tomorrow will be applesauce, apple/maple jam and apple pie filling. Also, some sugar free, some regular. A friend came over last night and got a few jars of everything. Gave some to a couple of neighbors, gave some to our septic pumping guys (the family are friends of ours). I will mail some to our daughter, I will take some to my Sissy next month! I just give most of it away. Like my crochet, I make the stuff for everyone else.
I so can relate to regain! Willpower never got me very far, and it still isn't! I have WLS but don't feel like it! I can eat anything and everything just like I could without my band. I made the decision to get the sleeve rather than get my band repaired. My bad! I am back to trying every fad diet that comes down the pike! Maybe I should consider OA. There must be something out there that will work for me! No complaints, just disappointed in myself!
Triple digits here all week! I've had to go down and water my DIL's flowers every morning. The dogs keep wanting to go out and play ball, but after three throws they are ready to come back in. So am I! Our son and family will be back from their cruise tomorrow.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Carolyn, you make me tired just reading your post! Can you bottle some of that energy and give it to me?
I have some blueberries I want to make into my sf/ff/protein rich blueberry muffins. I'll see if I have any energy today. I had to go out for awhile, get money, pay rent and now I'm sitting and watching baseball ... 105 here today. I have the blinds closed and ice water handy so I can chill. No work today. I'm not doing anything special.
I had RNY and now I can eat a bunch more, plus I never had too much of a problem with sweets ... other than ice cream. That always was a problem. And fried food never agreed with me. But I have noticed lately I can eat more sweets than I used to without ill effects, and that's not good. I have also noticed my IBS is back, which I don't like. So I think I mus****ch the sweets again. And fats.
Anyway, chill everyone. It's too hot to do anything.

Congrats Eileen,
Time for me to get back on the wagon too. I'm on a med that causes weight gain now. Can't let it ruin me. Gained 11 pounds in 3 months. My clothes are a little tight around the waist. Must use extra caution and exercise to get this turned around. Craving salt too. I'm probably retaining fluids with that. Must get my butt to the exercise room since it is too hot to walk outside. To be 110 today. Staying indoors.
Hugs, Mag

Dear Eileen,
I have been on the go for the past week, first to Florida, where I celebrated my birthday with my daughters and then home with my granddaughter and it has been a whirlwind the past 5 days, NYC, the Jersey Shore and now finally home and the chance to catch up on things such as this, my best wishes for you on this wacky road we have both found ourselves on. . . I've been around this forum for 5 years now and you have been a part of this journey since I got here, what I've learned is that things change quickly, then living life becomes a bigger part of things and that the challenges that were before surgery still own us and that we need to take charge. The tool does not stop working, but it does work differently at our stage of post-WLS life and so regain is slow to be lost and, for myself, I know what I need to do is make more of the right choices than the ones that brought me to this wonderful forum, so what I'm saying CONGRATULATIONS and you can pick up and utilize your tool in the manner that benefits you whenever you are committed to doing so and I need to do so as well, was doing great until this vacation.
Hope your pain situation gets managed in a way as to allow you to live life fuller and thank you for acknowledging my birthday in your surgiversary post!!!
Hugs, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen
