September Saturday What's New with You?

Good Morning Family,
Well, this is like my third day in a row getting up very early.  I had better be careful.  This could be habit forming.

I went to the doctor yesterday to follow up on my back injury for my car accident.  He recommended physical therapy for it.  I start next week.  But, the best news is, I got on the scale and it was a 9 pound weight loss since August 20th.  Imagine what I could do if I exercised.
So, this morning, I am getting ready to go to an AA meeting.  Then, scoot over to my sister's to borrow some money.  My son called me last night and asked if I could come to Manhattan to help his wife move some boxes to their new apartment on Monday.  I need the money for the train fare.
She doesn't want me to move anything.  My job will be to watch the car when she double parks it to take things to their new place.  If necessary, I'll have to move it.

This afternoon, I'll take Utley for a walk down the river.  There's going to be an Italian Festival down there.

Hugs to all,
Trish```````````````

About 1:30 am Rick woke me up to let me know the street was starting to flood...water was up to the curb...lucky the rain started to let up! I went back to bed...

Making Rick one of my afghans for his birthday next month in a camoflaghe (sp) color. He has no idea it is for him! He thinks it is for one of the tenants SIL...LOL He is drooling over it!!!!!!!! I have 9 rows done so far and took it over to Carol's last night to show her how it looked so far. It was sort of chilly so I wore it like a stole over my arms...wrong move that was!!!!!! My arms broke out in hives so bad!!!!!!!!! I am alergic to yarn at times not sure why it does that!!! Anyhow she loves how it looks and we are having a good lol on how Rick has no clue it is for him!!!!!!!!! He is going to be so shocked it is for him when he opens it up on his birthday!!!!!!!!! LOL Carol has those looms for knitting hats and scarves etc and she is showing me how to use them. I am so excited as now I can make my grandkids something else now for Christmas gifts!!! :-) They love weird colors and boy do I have some weird yarn colors left over from their afghans yet!!! LOL

Have a huge car show here today going on all day. Said rain or shine. Hope the rain stops soon. Cars should be starting to show up about 10 am. All should be there by 2. Looking forward to going to it...IF its not raining! Also have Bingo at the VFW tonight starting up again. Going to go to that also. Need to get out and have some fun for a change. NASCAR race is on tonight also. Last race before the chase...Dale Jr has the pole tonight. He is doing pretty good this year for a change!!!

Well I have rambled long enough...need to get some food in me and get dressed. Have a good day and know I am reading the posts every day even if I am not posting myself...just no time for me.

Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!

RNY on 02/22/11 with
Good morning Trish and Judy and all my OFF sistas to come!

Boy, did I ever have a scary, strange experience yesterday.  If you will recall I posted yesterday that my back was hurting me.  Well, actually, it had been hurting me for the past 2 days, just getting progressively worse.  And sometimes my stomach would ache a little bit, too, but nothing I couldn't ignore.  Then all of a sudden yesterday, I had some weird kind of attack.  I really can't describe it except to say that it was in my upper abdomen area and my upper back.  We almost went to the ER, except we had the baby here (he was napping) and besides that, I HATE the ER with a passion.

So I didn't know what to do, but I took a pain pill and Butch kept rubbing my back and after about a half an hour I finally got back to where I could breathe again and manage the discomfort level.  I called my WL surgeon's office, but it was Friday afternoon, and the only people there were staff.  Even the nurse was gone for the day.  I don't know if my attack was related to my RNY, but my stomach hurt so badly after I ate.  So I haven't eaten any solid food since then.  I drank a Pro Joe last night and I had a half of one this morning.  I might try a little yogurt later on.

I feel okay this morning.  My back isn't hurting right now, but I'm being very cautious.  I don't know WHAT ON EARTH I would have done yesterday if Butch hadn't been here.  I guess I would have had to call Christie at work and asked her to come home.  I sure couldn't care for the baby yesterday evening at all.

I know that sometimes complications can occur after RNY, but this is the first time I've had any kind of a problem with my stomach hurting.  And I don't know why my back is hurting, but it all seems to be related.  I guess I'm going to have to find a doctor down here.  If I can get thru the weekend, I'll start looking for a doctor on Monday.

Any advice, sistas?  I confess, I was pretty scared yesterday.  I never felt anything like that before.

Love you all!

Vickie,

Do you still have your gallbladder?  That sounds like cholic associated with gallstones.  Also, when I developed ulcers, the pain was so sharp sometimes that I felt like I was having a heart attack.  You should call your doctor to at least rule out a twisted bowl.  Then, if it is just acid build up, he will order you some priolosec or something of that nature.  Don't put it off for too long because I did put it off and ended up almost dying.  ER doctors are not the best choice for wls patients but they can order a CT scan which can rule out a twisted bowl.  Don't put this off.   The pain associated with the stomach and small intestine always hurts in the abdominal area and in the back, so get to your doctor soon.

Thanks Jeannie.  No, I don't have my gall bladder anymore.  I will definitely seek out a doctor next week.  If I don't have another "attack" this weekend, I will wait for Monday.  If I do have another attack, I'll go to the ER.  Sigh.  I hate the ER.  I did think about ulcers, adhesions, bowel obstructions, etc. yesterday.  I know there are complications that can occur after RNY.  It's just that I've done so well since surgery--no problems, no complications, hardly any pain, post-op even.  It was such a shock to have a problem yesterday.  I will get it check out.

Vickie,

Jeannie gave you good advice Do Not wait Too Long!! Some complications can go from painful to DANGEROUS in a few hours.

I can't think of the symptoms of kidney stones right this minute, but those buggers can happen too.

Start the search for a doctor on the computer today. Perhaps a forum close to you on OH?

Thanks Connie,
My daughter-in-law specifically said she would not expect me to do any heavy lifting.  My job will be to stay on the street with the car, and if necessary, move it.  They are moving to the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and she may have to double park the car in order to unload it in front of their building.  The most exciting thing I'll be doing is driving their car around the block on New York's busy streets.

You are so sweet to be so concerned.  That's what I love about OFF.  Everyone cares about each other so much.

Hugs and tons of love,
Trish

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Congrats on the weight loss ... I think I found yours. Take it easy with the moving. I used to be the desginated door holder-car watcher on many moves for my friend Roxane. One year when she moved out of her boyfriend's house, I had a station wagon. I helped her move, but I had just had foot surgery. I drove, sat by the door and held it open, watched the car as she did all the heavy lifting. One person said I had a cushy job ... I pulled out my crutches and threatened to trip them (jokingly, of course). Now, of course, I couldn't do anything moving wise. I have to hire someone. Next move out of this apartment, I already have someone lined up ... cleaning lady's hubby started a moving endeavor. I'm fortunate to find someone so quickly.

Vickie, I hope you're feeling better or can find some help. Don't delay. Not sure what it could be, but it's better to be cautious.

Not much going on here. We had storms here last night, so fierce they postponed Friday night high school football games. So tonight we'll have college football and high school football. Plus an NFL preview package. I'm doing the Henderson paper, but when I get done with that, I'll help out with sports. It'll be a crazy night.

Have a good day.
