Monday What's Happening?
Good Morning Family,
Well, I am up late because I feel like crap in a huge way. I've been on an antibiotic and steroids since Friday. I expected to feel better, but tonight sucks. Low grade fever, painful breathing. Generally, yuck!
Monday has me heading to my morning AA meeting with my new sponsee. She's having a rough time of it. Early sobriety really is hard, and some not so healthy people at the AA meeting have made it harder. All of her emotions are raw, and she doesn't know if what she is sharing is appropriate at the meetings. A seriously mentally ill alcoholic at Saturday's meeting yelled at her about something that was none of his damned business, and it really upset her. I spent a long time yesterday, and today assuring her that she did nothing wrong, and that his opinion is based on being "sicker" than the rest of us. Unfortunately, she has little experience with the sick people. Fortunately, I have tons of experience from working in a psych hospital. Working with her is helping me immensely, because it reminds me of what is was like 23 years ago when I first came to AA.
Immediately after the meeting, I must get to the lab to get my INR checked. I was off Coumadin last week for five days. I am now back on it, and must get it checked so I can go off the injectable anti-coagulant. Sucks to need cortisone shots and all the procedures I've had. Every single time, I have to go off the coumadin, get stuck with needles, yada, yada, etc.
Then, in the afternoon, I'm heading to the agency to volunteer. Right after that, I go to the campaign office to make phone calls I had some very interesting conversations with undecided voters Sunday night.
After Sunday's dismal Phillies game, and even worse Eagles game, I'm not sure I want to see the Phillies play Monday night. The Eagles did not even get into the freaking endzone for pity's sake. They had the ball right near the goal line. Quarterback got sacked, loses the ball and the Cardinals take the ball and run 100 yards to score a touchdown. Pitiful.
I hope everyone has an awesome day on Monday. It's gotta be better than the Phillies sports teams' Sunday.
Love you all,
Trish

Good Morning Trish, OFF friends,
Hope you feel better this morning! and yes, early sobriety is tough and I go to a meeting in Delaware that is populated by a good number of people with "other" types of issues and so it can scare off the newcomer, if someone does not take them under their wing and let them know that many alcoholics are dually diagnosed and therefore fall under the category of "sicker than others". Good that you have her under your wing, perhaps you can take her to a couple of different, more stable meetings so she can see for herself that aspect of things. . . working with others is definitely a rewarding aspect of living sober.
So I'm about to get ready for work, my weekend went by in a whirlwind, babysitting, cleaning, errands, walking Roxie, celebrating my son's 39th birthday, watching my team eck out a very disgraceful win, but it was a win and hopefully they will play better next week. . . today is a workday, this evening meeting with a sponsee and then it's home to finish up some food prep that I ran out of time and steam to do last night. . .
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and for any facing serious life challenges, I send my best wishes and prayers for peace, strength and resolution.
Hugs, Laureen

Aloha OFF sistahs/friends....
It's 7:15 a.m. here, and I just got a text telling me that there was only one baby born yesterday, so I don't have to go to the hospital this morning!! My colleague will test the one baby's hearing for me. So...yippee....a free day.
Just spoke on the phone with my son who lives in Santa Cruz...he was on his way to work. Always worry when he's driving that winding Highway 17 through the mountains from Santa Cruz to San Jose. He has his hands full with three little boys....4, 6 and 8, AND he's is starting a new job as an engineer for a startup company that keeps him working 10 hours a day or more.....poor guy. Wish I lived closer sometimes so that I could be more a part of their lives.
The sun is just popping up over the volcano Haleakela.....it is brilliant and the ocean is again smooth as glass. The only bad part of sunrise is that the blinding light shows every speck of dust in my living room and kitchen. It's actually a good time to clean because I CAN see the dust/dirt. When the sun gets higher, the dirt doesn't show because all my furniture is the color of red dirt......rust!! I live with the ocean on one side and a huge sugar cane field on the other......and it gets incredibly dusty, especially when they are harvesting the cane. My two kitties have found blissful spots in the sun and are taking first of many naps today....LOL.
Trish...sure hope you begin feeling better. It's a bummer to be sick and have so much on your plate. Please take care of yourself and don't do too much!!
Laureen......always love seeing you on here!! Glad you had a nice weekend, and hope this week is special for you.
Vickie...So glad to hear you are home after surgery. You have such a busy life and having physical problems is such a downer when you have so much to do. Wishing you the best of luck!!
OK...I'm taking the newspaper out on the lanai and getting an hour or two of morning sun. Being a little tan makes my hangy down skin a little less noticeable....I hope!!

Good afternoon Trish and everyone...
I have been going back and reading all the posts/threads I have missed. Lots going on here as always! I have been missing all you great ladies!!
The wedding was beautiful!!! It went without a hitch. Everyone had a great time. I posted one pic on my timeline on Facebook. It is just a pic of my daughter Jamie (bride) and my new DIL Megan, also grandchildren Nic and Grace. If you click on the pic you can see Nic better. Nic was determined he would not attend the wedding much less be a part of it. I had a talk with him Friday night and he decided he would come but stand way in the back so no one could see him. Well, the day came and he was mingling with everyone and having a good time. He still didn't participate in the actual ceremony. However, he, on his own, walked up and had pics taken with everyone. When I saw him with his mom, Megan and Grace I just cried. Tears of joy. The look on Jamie and Nic's faces when they looked at each out was just priceless! Praise the Lord for answered prayers!!!
The reception went great too! We all had so much fun. Both my ex husbands were there. We got along great! We actually had a lot of laughs. I am glad we made peace long ago. It is so much better for our daughters and grandchildren.
Trish....sorry you are still feeling so sick. I pray you feel better real soon. Please take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest.
Laureen....it sounds like you had a very busy but fun weekend with your family!!
Vickie....glad the surgery went well and you are home again. I am praying that the biopsy results a good! HUGS!!!!!
Carla....YAY....you finally made it home to Florida!! I am still praying for your friend. So sorry that her time is so short. I am happy that she will be able to have help at home.
I have several other thing I need to get done before Grace gets home from school.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!! Prayers for so many in need!!
Love
and many hugs
to all......connie d
