Sunday Morning in Pennsylvania

Hi Trish and my OFF Family:

Well, not a good start to my day: my Sunday newspaper wasn't delivered. I live for the Sunday paper ... it has all the ads in it. Not that I have any money but I enjoy getting them, looking through and cutting out the coupons (although we get lousy coupons). I logged complaints on the phone and online ... still waiting for my paper.

Trish, making a big move is always an issue ... I have never taken my moves lightly ... I've made several of them. When I took the job here, it was a slight pay cut ($2,000 a year) but it meant I would be closer to my family and I wouldn't be subject to the yearly one-week furloughs we were being made to take in Monroe. Plus, the stress level would be less. I'm happy I made this move ... it's not always been that way. But you have to weigh the good and bad, the pros and cons.

Carla, you need to get home and de-stress. Traveling has done a number on your body. That, and the weather systems and the funeral, are probably causing your headaches. Take some time for yourself to relax ... no babysitting, either.

Vickie, hope you find your fridge. I have used a website for several years for my sheepskin slippers. It's called Kiwi Sheepskins and it's in New Zealand.
http://www.kiwi-sheepskins.com/sheepskin-slippers.asp

I've had good luck with their products. Always wonderful slippers that last a long time. I think I've ordered twice in seven years from them. Tells you how long they last.

So yesterday I did not a whole lot ... I was cold most of the day, took two long naps in my recliner, watched the World Series (loved that the Giants are beating the Tigers) and read a book about Thomas Becket, the archbishop of Canterbury that was murdered by henchmen of Henry II in the cathedral. It's a fascinating book ... almost reads like a novel at times. I will have to go back and watch the movie with Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole after I'm done, although now I don't have a VCR anymore, so will have to find it on Netflix. I have the movie on videotape but no way to watch it, unless I connect the 13-incher with the VCR. If you haven't seen that movie, you should watch it ... it's wonderful.

Judy, sorry you didn't win last night, but sounds like you had fun anyway. Try to put Thursday out of your mind until then ... worrying about it won't help (I know, easy for me to say ... I'm a worrier from way back ... but really, it will only make things worse). They caught it early, so that's a good thing. I did a story once on a woman with breast cancer (she and her hubby both had cancer ... he had testicular cancer). She said, "You don't die from cancer, you live with cancer." And it's true ... she lived a long time with her cancer. So be a fighter ... be a cancer warrior. Don't let it get you down.

Well, not much else happening here. I plan to watch football, football and baseball today and read. I have tuna casserole on the mind, so I'll try to make that today. Good cold weather meal. And it lasts me a long time.

Have a good day.

Good morning Trish and everyone.......

I survived the Halloween Party. We went on a hay ride through a corn maze!! OMG there ghouls jumping out from all sides, climbing off and on the trailer. It was a riot!!! It was really a fun night! I can't wait to do it again next year!!

I have to go now and help Pam (BFF) finish up things at her mom's apartment. There are still odds and ends to do. I had other plans for today but changed them.  Pam's MS is really bad today. I need to be there for her, she just can't do it.

I am praying for so many of you here. Seems to be a lot going on!!

Wishing you a wonderful day!!

Love  and Hugs   to all.......connie d

Trish where about are you looking to move to?  Sure can buy here cheap these days.

Judy ditto on the ugly U of M colors, that would be the oldest DD and the lovely MSU colors that would be the youngest DD, my Dad and all us Michigan 4-Hers.  Now as far as Ohio colors we won’t go there I really, really like you.

Carla my Sister lived in your area and she said the same thing about that area.  Good luck on your trip home.

Vickie I got a little second for the same thing, I have two a second for in the barn to hold drugs for the animals and pop for DH (Bill) to get during the day to keep him from tromping in the house with boots on.  Both came at different times. One came from Builders Square, oldie but goodie.  And the second came from Home Depot.  Both where scratch, dents and discontinued.  But, I had more time than money and checked every time I went to a store.  Good luck with the house deal.

Vickie my oldest DD got me a pair of those sleepers.  I gave up because I couldn’t walk and I don’t usually sit that long in one time.

Dibbie I need the same wash.  Ugh roots.

Mag have fun with your friend.

Eleen stop picking on our Tigers!  My oldest DD is a fan but, said up front that the teams that sweep getting there don’t win historically.  But, she really had hopes.  I feel so bad for her.  Me I really could care less but, they are MI and have been so horrible in years pass.

Trish glad you survived the Halloween Party.  I didn’t, I gave into the carb Monster and up 4 pounds today to show for it.  Every time I get most of the weight off from a carb binge, I fall again.

No grandkids today or appointments so had time to sit and catch up.  Have a blessed Sunday all!

Can't help picking on the Tigers ... they're so much fun to pick on! And not all true about teams that sweep ... the White Sox were done earlier than the Astros in 2005 (didn't sweep, but won 4-1) and still swept the Astros. So it doesn't always happen. Anyway, I'm a White Sox fan and still feel sad they didn't make it into the playoffs and the Tigers did (the Tigers just outplayed the Sox at the end, that's all). I think Jim Leyland doesn't get his teams ready for the Series very well because it seems they come in flat offensively and defensively.

Yeah, she didn't say all just usually.  She knows all that sports stats stuff.   I'm guessing the Jim is the coach and no he didn't get this team ready at all.  Sorry about your Sox.

My daughter lives in Perry, Michigan, 30 minutes east of Lansing, just off 69.  She and her husband own some rental properties, and one of the houses is vacant.  They would have to change their pet policy, because right now they don't allow their tenants to own pets, and there is no way I could part with Utley.  I already know that the rent would be much cheaper than I pay currently.  I don't have the money for a down payment at this time, so I couldn't buy a home yet.

How far are you from East Lansing?  My daughter got her Masters in Reading Literacy at MSU.  Go State.

Hugs,

Trish

My youngest went to MSU for pre Vet.  Didn't get in as they changed the criteria the year she was applying.  Her Mentor quit over it as all she advised didn't make it as they did as told.

That is where most of my money went and who I rout for.  Perry is half way between me and MSU.

Good Evening,

Praying that each of you in the path of Sandy stays safe.  Hurricanes are nothing to take lightly.

My grandfather used to tell me that God never gives us more than we can handle.  But, I’ve had to remind God at times that I have had all I could handle.  So, I’m praying that God gives you no more than you can handle and places his healing hands on all in need.

This was an extremely lazy day for me.  After church, I was so cold that I took my Sunday paper and climbed under the covers and napped on and off all afternoon. What a great way to spend a relaxing day!

Hope everyone has a good start to their week.

Hugs, Sandra
