Happy Hump Day!

Well goodness, Tuesday morning, I was having a reaction to the skim milk powder in my hot chocolate protein drink so I laid down at 11 am for a half hour and, somehow, fell asleep after having just gotten up at 10 am! How shocked was I when I WOKE UP at 5:30 pm!  Arrgg!  JB just let me sleep - says I obviously needed it. But I missed the whole day!

And because of that, I am now awake all night on the day that I have to fast for twelve hours. I have my next blood test today to see if there is any change with my white blood cell count, apparently the last test showed my white cells were far too low.  I have little real hunger since my RnY surgery so it’s somewhat amusing that now, when I cannot eat for 12 hours, I an experiencing cravings….lol....it figures!

Soon I will use my sleeping pills and try to sleep then get up and head into the city to get the blood test done right away.  I have a nice “pot roast” for supper tonight. All is quiet on the home front.  Derek was here for supper, Kathy leaves in the morning to go back to the Coast Guard ship that she is assigned to for two more weeks so I expect that Derek will be here more often than not for dinner but I don’t mind.

Got all my celery leaves dried and jarred and I also gave both Kathy and Amy a bag each to use for soup.

We get frost at night but the sun has been out during the day…I am just NOT ready for snow. However, I am working on Christmas shopping, trying not to overdo as I usually do.  We do not need STUFF, we prefer just being together instead.

Well, it’s almost 3:30 am…maybe I can sleep now…sure will try!

Have a safe and happy day…sending prayers and positive energy to all needing it.

Good Morning Nancy,

So good to see you posting so frequently, Nancy.  Sorry you are staying up due to the pain or discomfort that you wrestle with.

I've tried to start this reply several times already, fallen asleep, and messed it up.

Today, I am staying close to home.  I'll get to an AA ,meeting near me.  Then, I have some gathering to do.  My niece is taking some stuff to Jersey for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, and I am getting stuff together today.  I also have to clear things up so I can host the dinner tomorrow.  My kitchen counter is huge, and needs to be cleared off, so the food can be placed on it.  Also, my living room needs a quick tidying and Swiffering of the floor.

If I have enough space in the fridge, I'll make my homemade cranberry sauce with Splenda.  I just follow the recipe on the bag of Ocean Spray cranberries, substituting the Splenda for the sugar.  It's very popular with my family, and sinfully easy.  The only ingredients are the cranberries, Splenda and water.

Gotta go.  Tons to do today.

Hugs,

Trish

Hi Nancy and Trish,

I couldnt sleep last night either!!!!! I was up most of the night knitting!!!!! I use the same recipie on the cranberry package also, but I add a a splash of orange juice or the juice of an orange and some orange zest.  and some cinnamon.

Today has Carl and i going to Costco to get pies for tomorrow. We are going on a road trip to Ft lauderdale. We are also going on a house hunting exposition tomorrow and Saturday. We are toying with the idea of moving down there.

I interviewed for a prn position at a small hospital about 25 miles from my house. But Im not sure if it is worth the one day a week of work. I might turn it down if it is offered to me.

I am going for a massage at 11. I cant wait, my neck is killing me!!!!!

I had another run in with my bipolar cousin the other night. She accused me of giving her my truck. I called her and told her I wasnt paying the insurnace and tags anymore. I wanted the truck back if she wasnt going to pay the insurance or pay for the tags that are due. She was in the process of buying the truck from us and didnt pay the paymenst that she promised to pay. She payed about 900.00 and quit paying. I havent had any money from her since last February. I told her I wasnt her sugar mama anymore. She went off on me. Called me every name in the book!!!!!!

I was flabergasted. She told me she had the title to my truck in her hand. I said you are a liar!!!!! How can you have the title when I have it right here  in my hand right now.!!!!!!!  its a vicious cycle!!!!!

Now you know why I want to move. I cant take the drama here!!!!!! i am so afraid to go anywhere cause I am afriad she will break into my house and do something.

but the good thing about this is I am staying away food cause in my old days I would be eating my way to oblivian over this!!!!!

Hi Carla,

I empathize with you on the bipolar relatives thing.  Mom is so difficult to relate to.  She and I had two huge blow-outs on our two day drive from Michigan.  She has always been difficult to relate to.  It got so my own therapist flat out told me Mom is crazy.

I also have a bipolar cousin, *****ally was out there.  Problem is, she estranged herself from all the family, and was homeless for a while.  My Mom is her Mom's medical power of attorney, and it caused such a stink for this cousin.  Mom has been wanting to get in touch with the cousin for years, and nobody has a clue where to look.  Mom fears she's dead.  My Aunt, Mom's sister, has dementia and is in a nursing home.  Mom got some money that was my Aunt's that Aunt doesn't need. So, Mom wants to give it to my cousin.  It's not much, just a couple of thousand.

Hang in there.  Just take possession of the truck, and let your cousin deal with it.  My son had a car I bought him for college, and my rule was he could have it for work or school.  If he wasn't in school, he was to pay me the insurance.  If he was in school, he didn't.  He went for over a year without either work or school.  He was living with his Dad at the time.  I took possession of it, and he disappeared the next day.  Ten days later, I got a call from him.  He was in a rehab for his heroin addiction.  Turns out, he was driving across the river to Trenton, getting heroin to sell where we lived, to feed a really bad habit.  No car meant he was out of business, and couldn't get the heroin.  l

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Hugs,

Trish

Good mornin' ya'll.

Nancy, it does sound like you needed some rest. Somehow you need to convince your body you would like that rest at night!

Tri****hink it's wonderful that you are close enough to help the victims of Sandy.

Carla, would you make enough money at that job to make up for the extra gas you would be using? It must be frustrating and sad to have to deal with your cousin. Perhaps Judge Judy could help!

i have been MIA for awhile again. Got a note from my doc saying my vitamin D level is down, he faxed an RX to Express Scripts for me.

Today I will do what I can for tomorrow's dinner. Make the pumpkin pie, the cheesecake, the gravy, the pumkin bread. I know that isn't all that much and I could get it all done tomorrow since we aren't eating until 2. But it's nice to be able to spread it out. Plus I know Dustin will be down for breakfast soon. We will only have 5 this year. We have had at least twice that since we moved here 7 years ago.

Ok, my 'girls I can share anything with'. As you know I had my band removed and got the sleeve a year ago. The sleeve NEVER worked. I loved my band when it was adjusted right, I lost 125 pounds. I am slowly gaining that back. Soooooo, in January I am going and get a band back!!

everyone have a fantabulous day!

Hi Carolyn,

Sorry you are not finding the sleeve effective either.  When I went to my first consult with the surgeon, I was interested in the band.  My surgeon said he could do it, if I really wanted to, but said it was not as effective as the RNY.  He explained about sugar and dumping, as well as the malabsorption issues with the RNY and everything.  He even drew me a picture of what my digestive system would look like after RNY.  For some reason, I opted for the RNY, even though he only did the RNY open at that time.  He now does it laporoscopilly in addition to open.  I have no regrets choosing RNY.

My sister got the band several years ago, and has had issues with gagging on food and throwing it up.  She also has gained weight since her surgery.  She never followed the weight loss surgery diet recommended by the nutritionist at her surgeon's.  She is looking into getting the sleeve now.  She's afraid to get the RNY because she has had pulmonary emboli, and is on Coumadin.  I spoke with my surgeon about it, and he said that he could do the revision to RNY safely.  Unfortunately, Sissy refuses to consider surgery where I had mine because it isn't a regular hospital, it's a bariatric specialty hospital.

Good luck with your revision.  I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hugs,

Trish

Good afternoon Nancy and everyone.....

Nancy.....I haven't been sleeping well either. I went to bed at 10PM last night and was up and down until 6AM. I finally fell asleep about 6:15AM. My alarm went off at 9:00AM. I had to go back to my dentist and get a loose filling fixed. All is well now.  I will see her in 6 months.

I then went up to the hospital and spent a couple hours with my friend Pam. They admitted her again last night. She has an infection in her tummy near where they took the gallbladder out. It is always something!!  That poor gal!!

I am going to take a nap now as I can hardly see straight!!

Wishing you all a good day!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I am going to the Twin Cities to spend the day with my daughter Carrie and her family.....his family too!  I am picking up Kyleigh and taking her with. Keep safe everyone that is traveling for this holiday.

I know I had more to comment on but I am at a loss right now.

Prayers for many in need.

Much Love  and many Hugs   to all.....connie d

Connie,

I hope you are able to get some rest today.  I have also been having trouble sleeping as well.  I have trouble falling asleep, and then wake up at dawn.  I go out to my chair, turn on the TV, get on my laptop, and fall asleep again.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hugs,

Trish

Hello everyone!

I slept quite well last night, but I'm in a slump today anyway.  Just can't seem to get motivated to do anything around the house.  The baby is napping, Chris has gone to work, and Carrie won't be here for another few hours.  I could be getting so much done, but all I want to do is lie down and read my book.

I did make a last run to the store this morning.  It was crazy in there!  Glad I did the majority of my shopping on Sunday.  I'm going to try a couple of new dishes tomorrow.  One is sweet potato gnocchi in a sage butter sauce.  Don't know what that one will taste like, but I bought these gnocchi months ago and I need to use them.  The other is a butternut squash risotto.  We've never had that either.  I guess I'm in the mood to experiment.

I made a Tex Mex lasagna earlier this week and it was yummy.  I am spending way too much time thinking about food these days.  It's a bad habit.  I like to entertain myself in the kitchen.  Problem is I also like to eat what I cook!  LOL!

Hope everyone who is traveling today stays safe.  Carla, I'm sorry about the problems with your cousin.  I certainly can sympathize.  That bi-polar business can get real, real messy.  I'm just thankful that Chris seems to be on a pretty even keel right now.  Last year our Thanksgiving and Christmas were nothing but pure hell.  We are all holding our breath for this year's holidays.

Carolyn, I sure hope this next revision works for you!  Got my fingers crossed!

To everyone else, Happy Thanksgiving!  Love you all!
