Hi Ruby and my OFF family:

Sunny day today but chilly so far. I am early for my dental appointment, which I thought was yesterday but was really today. So I had to get up early two days in a row, and I'm really sleepy now. I'm going to need a nap when I get home before I go into work.

Vickie, tell Butch it takes a long time to heal from knee surgery. He's not going to be better in a week. The PT will require a lot of pain meds. Take them. They will make PT a lot easier and he'll be able to do it better, which will make him better. So he won't be able to do as much around the house. Tell him to veg and enjoy people waiting on him for awhile ... boy, he sounds like my dad. After Dad had his hip replacement and came home, my mom knew he'd try to paint the porch, so he had my brothers come to the house at 8 a.m. to do it. But nope, Dad got up at 7 and was out there painting the porch right after getting out of the hospital. Stubborn old man! (He was at the VA hospital and they kept them longer than 3 days like they kept me.)

Not much else happening. Back to work this evening. No sports tonight at least ... sick of reading about basketball (notice I didn't  say I was sick of basketball, just sick of reading about it).

Have a good day.

Greetings Ruby and OFF Friends,

I've been pretty busy so far today.  First I filled my crock-pot with homemade stuffed cabbage, which is cooking right now.  Then, I tidied and vacuumed my carpet  Utley is shedding horribly, and I sometimes have to vacuum twice a day.

My grandchildren were all here for about an hour.  THen, Colleen came by and got Isabel to take her to Girl Scouts, and now I'm watching the boys  Franklin is asleep, and Lincoln is watching Tom and Jerry cartoons.  When they go home, I have to go fax something so my records from where I had my RNY done can be accessed by the hospital here in Michigan.  I had my surgery at Barix, which is sort of a chain of weight loss surgery hospitals.  They do everything, pre-op consults, the surgery, and all the post-op visits.  What's good is at every doctor's visit, a nutritionist come in and does a consult, and it's all included.  They also have pre- and post-op support groups.  The Barix in Pennsylvania was right next to where I had other doctors.  Here, it's like two hours away, or something like that.

I'm supposed to go to Bible study at church tonight, but it's been snowing, windy and cold all day.  The thought of leaving my warm cozy house after dark does not appeal to me.  It's possible they will cancel tonight's study.  They did that a few weeks ago when it was snowing.  I hope they do, because I have missed several weeks due to being sick.

Ruby, don't beat yourself up about a little regain of weight.  If you are doing any strength training, the gain could be increased muscle.  Muscle weighs more than fat.  The good news is muscle burns calories when your body is at rest.

Must scoot.
Hugs,

Trish

Trisha, I know the story about muscle weighing more, etc.  Right now I want to get back in my clothes.  My bottom just will not fit in my pants.  LOL  Even my arms are bigger.  Some of my tops are too tight.  i have gained only 15-16 pounds in the last few months.  When you are short (5'1") every pound seems to show up.

Tonight is book club (not sure what I am going to wear.)  Also I went to a funeral today and it was a struggle to find something to wear.  I know--POOR ME.   Forgive my whining.  I know get off my bottom and walk/exercise and watch what I eat.  Talk about eating, this hostess w

ill have lots of FOOD.

Better get to the closet and see what I can wear.  Really I count my blessings for having this surgery.  It is just this regain have me scared, but I am tough.  I will deal with it.

Trish....I don't know how Colleen made it before you got there. You seem to be busy with the kids most every day. That is good for you and your grandchildren!!

I hope you found something to wear and got to your bible study group tonight!! My pants are tight but my tummy makes my tops way too tight. I better change that soon!! I refuse to buy bigger clothes!!!

Love and hugs....connie d

Evening everyone...well today we went to see if we could get medicaid...NOPE! I have to apply for SSI see if I can get that...need the last 10 years o work history and dr visits and medical...Rick nothing at all they will do for him!!! Only because I am 60 and he is so much younger. So I told him we could still go to the ER and have his arm/back looked at and tell them he has no insurance and ask to see the person to help him set up medicaid for the bill. Worth a try. Anyhow I go back next week on the 28th and see what happens next. Right now my sciatic is acting up again and m lower back is also starting to hurt and my hand/wrist is screaming!!!!!!!! Can I make it to Willoughby to see my pain dr before my medicaid that I have yet runs out? I have no idea. Will be calling him tomorrow for sure!!! If he doesn't take medicaid I guess I will not be making that trip for treatment. Can't afford it.

Weather here is very COLD wind and temp is 29* and mother nature can knock it off anytime!!!!!!!!

OK hand is hurting ALOT need to get off here...

Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!

HUGSSSSSSSSS

Judy...I hope you can get some help with your medical. You need that wrist taken care of. Rick on the other hand is in a tough spot. He will have to go through the hospital They may cut the bill some. My friend had that happen. They gave her 40% off. However, she is still stuck paying many thousands of dollars herself. Payments... but they will go on for many, many years. She is sick now and couldn't even see her regular doctor. She owes $3000 there and they won't let her be seen until it is paid in full....good luck with that for her!!

I think it is awful how many doctors, dentists etc., don't take Medicaid anymore. They just don't get paid enough and lose too much money. It is only going to get worse as time goes by. Who knows how this will all work out with Obamacare....better known as Nocare!!

Praying for you...love and hugs...connie d

Not only are some doctors not taking Medicaid.  Some are not taking Medicare even when you have a secondary insurance.  Really I do not have a GYN.  Seems Medicare pays almost nothing for well women check ups.

Judy,

All you have to do is go to the Dept of aging in Ohio and they will help you find a policy that you can afford to pay out of your salary for health insurance. I did that on my own for my daughter. I pay like 120 a month for insurance for her. It has a high deductable for if she has to go into the hospital. The copays for the doctor is 40.00 for a office call. but at least it is something. I still pay it for her even though she is married. It is through Aetna. She has had it since her last year of College.

I have insurance thru the government and I pay thru the nose even though it is thru carls retirement. I pay 500.00 a month and the government pays the other 800.00 a month. I got to have it or I would be dead!!!!!!
