Hello, everyone! JB and I just returned last night from a week in Quebec to visit family and attend a reunion. We had such a great time...laughing until our cheeks hurt and enjoying several days of boating down the Ottawa River. One of my cousins has a pontoon boat so that I could step right onto it without climbing, which is great since I need two complete knee replacements in the near future.
I ate carefully but did have tiny portions of naughty stuff. However I could not take my daily fluid pills (for my lymphodema) as that means constant trips to the bathroom...really a nuisance when you are away from home. I got weighed when we got home to see a five pound gain but I suspect that, in two days and regular fluid pills again, it is mostly water and will correct itself to my normal weight.
It is extremely hot, humid and dry here..we have a complete fire ban here...no campfires, open BBQ pits, no fireworks...rain is desperately needed in this area. My garden is dead...no rain for three months. Living in the country, we collect our own water so we canno****er the gardens.
Today, we are back to normal...everything is unpacked and washed again. I brought home several huge eight pound capons (frozen) and will use them for a family BBQ on Sunday.
Plans for today,
BREAKFAST: protein drink
SNACK: banana
LUNCH: business meeting...planning a salad with grilled chicken since I know that restaurant's lunch menu
SNACK: unknown, maybe a yogurt
DINNER: lean ground beef (Salisbury steak) & veggies & salad
BEDTIME SNACK: protein drink
I have a busy day with multiple stops. We got double-charged for an $86.00 grocery bill (charge card) so I have to get that taken care of too and stop for more skim milk powder for my protein drinks plus buy ingredients for my IMPOSSIBLE CHEESEBURGER PIE for a POTLUCK LUNCH on Saturday. I try to get as much done one one trip as possible then rest the next day as my legs/knees will be screaming by then.
Now it is back to the drawing board (literally)...clients need their illustrations for their books.
Have a wonderful and safe day!
Yes ..you are one of the lucky ones and You had VSG... And just 2 years ago.. ...
I wish I had VSG... Better chance of more normal, yet smaller stomach..
At the same time I often wonder if my gut issues were there before RNY, and RNY just made them worse... I'll never know.

I hear you on the gut issue... It is comes and goes for me.. Last surgery I had 2 or 3 years ago show minimal scar tissue and just flipped intestine. The doc unflip that and stitched it...It helped with the horrible pain I used to have... now it is just regular gut pain that I need to learn to live with.. Most likely SIBo and small intestine sensitivity to gas.. any gas - so one what to avoid the pain is FODMAP free diet.. low carb diet.. low fiber diet.. plus Miralax to makes thing move along....and to not stick around...
but when I get a flare - it is not good... and something normal things can cause it to flare up... even like some spices added to the meat...
(I am dealing with that now)
I do get the Hyoscyamine pills..,. so that helps a lot.. I would not do without them.
I do hope you find an answer..

Hey Halab,
I am here but so busy. I am hiring new tutors and getting them trained and getting ready to head out to Yellowstone...it's a busy time. Plus the stomach issues are driving me nuts. I am going for a CT scan but the surgeon said it probably won't show the scar tissue...and he is advocating for outpatient exploratory....I am thinking he is right on that one.
Breakfast today was loaded oatmeal
Lunch was blackeyed peas and squash
Dinner tonight will be fish.
I am getting my hair cut this evening too so I cannot wait to get this mess up off of my neck. Yesterday, I pickled four gallon jars of cucumbers. I swore I wasn't going to do it but my daughter sent me a large basket of cucumbers and garlic so I had to do something with it or let it rot. I had already given the larger cucumbers away....I saved my large pickle jars and surprisingly the lids still sealed. I will give them to her because the kids love pickles.
Well, let me get back to work.
Ladies, where are you guys hiding? Like Glenda the good witch to her little people: come out; come out; wherever you are.....
I don't usually post... but here it is
It is hot in SC.. scorching hot... deadly hot...
we took it easy...Saturday... I felt funny - weak in the morning and Keith took Dewey to the vert... I ate breakfast and took a nap..we went to a movie later... and when we got back .. I just cooked bunch of dishes I was planning to cook.. Sunday was some garage organizing work (mostly Keith) and some weed pulling from the flower beds and spraying...- me. I got over heated.... and it took a cold shower + 4 more hrs for me to just cool down... (I should know better - my body doesn't handle heat very well due to adrenal issues). And of course the side effects from overheating lasted all Sunday... and I am still not fully recovered... (dehydration due to mineral imbalances)
Monday we just chilled (I got up really late) and went to a movie and...Kohls.. I scored nicely in Kohl's...not that I need new clothes - but I needed some more "business casual" tops.. They had some "winter" tops for close to nothing...so I grabbed them also... Even though I may ***** about RNY - but having that allows me to remain rather same size for last 2-3 years... so now I can buy stuff when they are on sale..for any season..
Since i don't drink alcohol.. and I don't eat grains or most carbs - I have been losing weight.... bit too much.... I need to stop that... at my age - 55 - I don't need to get too skinny...
Eating grains or potatoes is not an option..and increasing fruits... gives me runs.. so.. plus I can't eat dairy... really don't like that...
I know - even a year ago I would laugh at that, "nice problem to have", and even wished for it, but my body doesn't handle that very well.. I am still technically "overweight" on BMI scale.. but my body fat % is dropping together with my muscles.. my heart doesn't like it... (irregular heartbeat)
anyway... today I am trying to drink more minerals..(electro-mix - by emergen-c - really good stuff to get potassium) plus I hope to get some more salt and more multi..
eats:
whatever I can stomach... I have chicken dish, HB eggs, avocado, cucumbers..nuts...etc)

Hey Linda and Julia,
I am feeling much better today than in the past week but I am very careful what I eat. We drove down the mountain to spend the afternoon with our grandkids...Mr Mathew's birthday is the fifth but we celebrated today. We got him his own drone, and he was very happy. Of course, it only flies like 150 yards from where he controls it but it does take pictures and videos so he said his project for gifted and talented first semester will be to do an arial map of their home town....
Linda, you will love WY. My niece has a ranch in Douglas and on our way to Cody, we will stay a few days with her and dig around for fossils, of which are abundant where she lives.
Today, I had a very soft boiled egg for breakfast and lunch I ate some potato soup. Dinner was a little better--tuna salad. I snacked on pretzels and watermelon.
Ladies, enjoy the fourth.
Hi Linda and those to come,
I've been out cleaning off the patio. I try to get an outside task partially done before it gets too hot. I'm getting ready to get into the bath now and also wash my hair. At three I have my tutoring session.
I haven't weighed yet this morning but I seem to be maintaining my weight this week. I'd kind of prefer to go down two more pounds so that I could say I hit my first goal, then maintain there for a while.
If I get my butt in motion I will have time to run to the fruit stand for a couple of watermelons. I need one for a party tomorrow and one for us.
My food today is in flux. Not sure what I even have right now. I did have a part of an omelet for breakfast. My husband brings his breakfast leftovers for me every Sunday. I prefer to sleep....
Hope your day is peaceful! That is my favorite kind of day!
Julia
good morning
My last day in Dallas. Friday I got in,checked into my hotel and then drove to my daughters. Hung out a while then went to dinner. I had a grilled shrimp salad. It was very good.,mixed greens, corn, pistachios, carrots, and shrimp. Was much to big. I ate the shrimp then maybe a fourth of the salad. My daughter and SIL had a softball game at 9pm. It was fun. My elder grandson was playing with a few boys and got hit in the nose. Result.....nose bleed. Recovered quickly. Yesterday we went to see finding Dory. It was good. Today I'm fulfilling requests. I'll take the boys to KFC for lunch then to Joe's crab shack for dinner . The younger wants crab, the elder is picky and I'll hope the children's menu has something he'll eat. I'll call ahead to see. Tomorrow I start my journey to Wyoming. I am getting in my steps and watching my food choices. I packed my scale, does anyone else travel with a scale? I have to or I'll have no idea where I am results wise.
Well ladies, keep doing what we're doing and stay the course.
