Hi Ladies
I spent all afternoon with my dad. He grilled pork steak and my step mom made macaroni salad, broccoli salad, corn on the cob and shrimp ****tail. Then for dessert she had watermelon and Boston cream pie cake which I split the piece with my SIL, she had the RNY about 10 years ago. Then she sent me home food. I had pork steak, shrimp and macaroni salad for supper. I had my usual breakfast egg omelet. I think I didn't do to bad today. Better than yesterday.

Hello folks
Well I have been MIA for awhile. I was in Atlanta visiting my son, DIL, and grand daughter. It was her 5th birthday and she has grown so much. She's just shy of 4 ft tall. She looks older than 5 as a result. We had a lot of fun together but now I am home and buried in laundry since John was gone also.
I am gathering the things I need to pack for Wyoming and cleaning closets as I go. So, my spare bedroom looks like a hurricane hit it. I am mentally tired, I can't think with clutter and I can't find anything in my closet if everything is pushed together. I decided the only way to prevent that was to give away a large chuck of my clothes. Even if they fit I do not need 10 pairs of jeans and a similar amount of capris and shorts. Hopefully I will be able to go into my closet and see what I have. I am also anal about my closet. I hang things in categories. With pants I hang Left to right, jeans, capris, then shorts. With tops I hang by category, color and material. I put tanks or camis to the right and going left I hang T-shirts, then casual knit shirts, then casual cotton shirts, then long sleeve shirts. Each category is arrange by color. I have a separate section of my closet for dressy things also categorized. Once I have my closet in order it gradually gets messed up as either I hang things in a hurry or John hangs things and he doesn't care. It is now at the point where I can't walk in there without getting a headache. I know....there is medication for that.
Well I had better get back to it.
see ya later
Julia and Ladies to Follow,
Julia, you are like me; you get a little happy and then you commit...and then regret it. LOL....I love Tahoe but haven't been in decades.
Well, yesterday, I spent the entire day trying to clean up the apartment. The kids will be here for two weeks and so I had to try and figure out how to keep their things put up so we are not stepping over their bags of clothes and technology and books...well, you know. Both kids are going to be taking some courses at the University with the girl taking photography classes and geology and the boy taking a robotics camp. We are also giving them some intense language studies. In our state, our children are not given foreign language until they are in high school, so through the years, my husband has been teaching the kids German and I have been teaching them Spanish. This week, I have a colleague of mine who is going to give them two weeks of intense tutoring in Spanish and we have another friend who will provide a little conversational German. We are very excited that we can provide the kids with this and that they were invited to these summer camps but we will be taking the kids all over town for two weeks: mornings at the university, afternoons at the Jones center, and then late afternoons for language studies. I am pretty sure by the end of the two weeks, I will be exhausted.
I dropped five pounds doing the reading, which I knew I would because I walked a lot. Our hotels are several blocks from the convention center so they bussed us to the center but we walked all over the convention center and back at the hotel, I walked around the mall that is attached to the hotel and around the park that was in front of our hotel...Plus, the living on salads helped.
Yesterday, I cooked a pot of beans and was going to make some potatoes and okra but the kids talked Granddad into ordering cheese pizza so they ate the pizza and I ate a bowl of pinto beans. I really needed some good protein...I also cooked a few shrimp so I was set.
Since we are in for a busy week, I am going to get our evening meals prepared today for next week. We did buy the kids some meat products because they are not vegetarian...When DH went down to pick the kids up on Thursday, my older grandson met him and gave him a cooler filled with trout, bass, and catfish (all frozen that he had caught and filleted for us except the trout, they are just gutted), so we will have plenty of fish for the next two weeks too.
Today's eating for me: Loaded oatmeal for breakfast....Lunch will be bean soup....dinner...trout, beans, okra, corn on the cob, and squash...(the daughter's garden is going crazy).
Ladies, make good food choices today and remember, we all mess up but once we mess up, we have to pick up where we left off....so if you eat a little dessert today, don't wait until tomorrow to fix it....today, eat healthy the rest of the day. And, of course, move....do some yoga or walk....stretch that back....right now...walk over to the kitchen table or sink and spread your feet apart enough to give you a good base support and move an arms length back from the table and put your hands on the table and bend over and stretch that back and neck.....it will feel good but don't over do it because those muscles are like your leg muscles and you don't want them to get too sore.....if you do this a couple of times a day, you will work out all that sludge that has accumulated in your upper and even lower back....I promise you will...
Happy Father's day to all the men who swing by...and to those who still have their fathers around, I hope you get a chance to spend a minute or two with them.
Hi Everyone,
I'm starting the thread early because tomorrow I won't be able to do it. I have been in Lake Tahoe for a week and tomorrow is our travel day. It's been a nice week but I'm ready to go home. My dogs are waiting. Even though they don't know why I am sure life is tougher on them when we are gone. They rely on our attention.
I had a crazy good dinner tonight....filet of sole with a sauce and capers, asparagus, and angel hair pasta. I get it every year at this Italian restaurant when we are here. I could only eat half, maybe less. It is still a splurge though. I am hoping that I have maintained this week. I am not looking for a miracle...lol.
Tomorrow night we will have overnight guests...I invited them when I had a couple of glasses of wine...damn. Now I wish I hadn't, but the damage was done.
I am not sure of my food plan tomorrow. I'm thinking we will have breakfast on the way out of town, so I'll stick with eggs and a piece of sausage. There will be no food in the house until I get to the grocery store ....not sure what the rest of the day will involve foodwise.
One of my first tasks is to hit the scale. I need to see what I'm dealing with up close and personal.
Happy Father's Day to everyone that is lucky enough to have a Dad that is still living. My Dad died young so I haven't had him in my life for forty years. We will celebrate a bit because my husband is a Dad.
Missed you this week Jeannie...I'm sure you are thrilled to be home!
Julia
Hello, everyone:
Today I spent the full time at a creative workshop doing crafts while reviewing and using new crafting products. I made two wall boards for my main entrance bathroom and started a light green wine bottle- painting leaves and tendrils with metallic gold paint pens. That bottle has to be completed for the next workshop..six in all....monthly.
I made sure that I had my protein drink before leaving home and drank alot of water during the workshop. I had six rice crackers with hard cheddar cheese on them and a handful of green grapes..I ignored the chocolate and the cookies laying there...yay me!
John & I had a late supper...I just ate a bit off his veal cutlet..ate the veggies (steamed broccoli, cauliflower & peppers) while he had the pasta side with lots of sauce & cheese.
Dessert was a 90 calorie "fruit popsicle" made with real lemon juice and lemon pulp...very refreshing.
I know that I did not get enough protein in but the temperature reached 32 degrees celcius and neither of us felt like eating..thank goodness for AC. One day off won't kill me.
Mary,
My husband and I were talking about hurrying up to wait on people. I hope your worker shows up. It is so hot here too. I swear; I walked out to get something out of the car and the heat took my breath.
My beans are done; I may go take a little nap.
Yvonne, sounds like you'll have a good day today. Stay away from those brownies!! Enjoy the reunion and the cook-out. I'm jealous!
Jeannie, too bad you had a roommate from hell. I volunteer at a Food Share and there's one lady who is very nice, but she just talks, and talks, and talks some more. I hear her tell the same story to each and every volunteer, on and on and on. By the time she gets to me, I've heard her tell the story several times already.
And she stops working when she talks.
SHUT UP ALREADY!!! (Rant over)
I'm just taking it easy today. Too hot to work outside. A co-worker was supposed to come over and do some yard wool from me, but no sight of him yesterday or today. Oh well, I've gotten used to waiting around for workers. ![]()
Hope all is well with everyone.
Hey Yvonne,
Sounds like you are in for a busy day.
I finished the readings yesterday and we read 2.8 million essays....oh my! I came home late last night: KCMO is only about 4 hours from here and it's a pretty easy drive. If I had flown, it would have taken me two hours longer because there aren't straight flights from NWA to KCMO.
The week was hectic and I bet I walked six miles every day and mostly ate salad for lunch and dinner. They just don't know how to make vegetarian meals...but they had salad bars that always had chick peas and black beans so I was able to eat the salad with a load of beans.
On an aside, we always share rooms with other readers and I have often shared a room with a friend of mine but the last two years, she has not attended so I shared a room with another friend of mine....this year, that friend went into some mental thing of not sleeping....she wouldn't shut up...I didn't get to sleep before 2 all week and had to be up at 5:30....the only time I was free of her endless chatter was when I left the hotel early to go the convention center to eat breakfast and I left as soon as the bus came to get me....In fact, out of the entire week, she probably didn't read one full day because she was so manic that her table leader sent her home every single day.
Next year, I will room with a stranger because if I had been rooming with a stranger, I would not have thought twice about going to ETS and saying, please get the crazy woman out of my room but since she was a friend, I didn't want to get her in trouble.
We have our grandkids for the next two weeks. My eight-year-old granddaughter is taking a gifted and talented summer program at the university and the boy is taking a robot thing. DH and I are trying to figure out what to do with them after their morning classes. We will probably have them go to the Jones center, which has dance classes, sports things, swimming, ice skating, and other things. We pay a couple of hundred dollars and they provide them with activities every afternoon. Today, I really need to figure out how I am going to fit the two in my apartment for two weeks.....geeze we live in a crowded and cluttered apartment
My breakfast today was a very small whole wheat pancake with walnuts and sunflowers...I put a little cashew butter on it.
I am making a pot of beans for dinner and will probably make an egg salad for lunch....
Ladies, I've missed you guys but have just read so many AP essays every single day that I just couldn't read or post much....plus I had so much work to do after reading and that kept me busy....I spent all my evenings in the hotel lobby, hiding behind the big plants, so I could work without my manic roommate distracting me and about 11:30, I'd go back to my room and she would be awake and manic as hell and ready to chat.....even when I took out my hearing aide, and even when I put my eye cover on, and even when I said, goodnight, she continued to chat.....holy bat****crazy......
Talk to me...I need normal....my friends...my support group....
Hi Ladies,
I have a family reunion to go to this afternoon. Then tonight I'm going to see a high school friend that I haven't seen in quite a few years.
So I don't know what I'm eating today but will try to make good choices. I'll try to stay out of my brownies I made since I know they are high calories.
Tomorrow I'm going to my dad's for a cookout after I get out of church.
Everyone have a good day.
Yvonne
Hi All,
I'm here. It's been a busy week for me too. We have a week in Lake Tahoe once a year with my husband's three brothers and their wives. It's been fun but I am ready to go home and see our dogs and daughter. I have no idea what this will do weight wise. Hopefully no damage...I have tried to be careful. Yesterday we did lots of walking at a mansion on the lake...I could sure get used to living in such a beautiful spot with a yacht and servants...lol.
It's great to have you back Mary! You truly have come out of a potentially horrible situation with a whole new life! Nice to see you too, Trish. Sounds like your vacation has been wonderful too! And Nancy, you continue to push right through pain and lead a very busy life! The knee intervention sounds great...
I have company coming for dinner...all eight will be here at three. Tomorrow we take our hosts for a fancy Italian dinner, and Sunday morning we all head in different directions. I'm attaching a picture of the view outside my timeshare balcony....
