I find snacking on nuts really helps my cravings.  They are higher calories snacks - but they are loaded with good fat and fiber...

when I am in a active losing mode - I portion them.. but - if I am just maintaining - then really my pouch dictates when I had enough (the fat in them causes slight nausea if I eat way too many). Because I am on rather limited carb diet - nuts are my main source of carbs...

Nancy and Ladies,

I have a box of crackers in my office and eat them when I don't bring veggies to snack on. Yesterday, I ate nine crackers. I know better than to eat glidder foods but I did/do sometimes.  Anyway, today, I am taking responsibility for those unhealthy eating binges, so I looked at the calories of one serving; they are like 60 calories for 5. I put the crackers in the lounge where the students sit and I put a note, please eat so the fat lady will not eat unnecessary calories.

Today I will walk and at noon we do yoga.  I am really getting dedicated to it too.

Breakfast today was loaded oatmeal (walnuts, berries, and prunes); lunch is soup with NO crackers; dinner will be shrimp, squash, and mushrooms.   I am going to bed at 6 tonight because I have stayed up way too late for the last few nights and I am exhausted.

Ladies, have a good day.

Nancy,

I just have a few minutes but had to stop in to congratulate you on your Canada offer! How exciting & what a statement about your work! Enjoy & knock them dead!

You did great eating yesterday... I wish I could say the same! I started collecting high protein recipes off various FB sites last year. Of course now I am getting inudated with all kinds of food porn. Last nite I made cream cheese cookies & ate EIGHT of them. I am SO pissed at myself!

Anyhow today is a new day & sunny to boot. So I plan to double my walking, do some gardening & just MOVE as much as possible.

Gotta run. All have a great day!

Kathy

Well, I am still working at it.

Monday, I had a most intriguing luncheon meeting with a lady who runs the WILD WOMEN UNITE " weekend retreats...she had found me through the internet while researching mandala workshops and has asked me to teach several workshops at this retreat. Apparently they are getting big in the UK and the US but this will be the first one in Canada.  What really shocked me was that she insists on paying for my transportation (out of town), my meals, lodging and registrations...she said she wants me THAT bad to teach! So no expenses at all for me for three days.  They will accommodate all of my accessibility issues as well. I am a bit overwhelmed.

My lunch was chicken parm..I ate the chicken but not the pasta. Then I had to buy more glitter glue at DOLLARAMA..I had changed purses and forgot my credit card at home...luckily thisd lady bought some of my colouring books which left me with enough cash to pay for my lunch and buy thr craft supplies. So I now have sixty five hand made individual birthday party invitations to present at our huge provincial conference for BPW this weekend and I still have three posters to make before even looking at my own personal packing.

Dinner was grilled fish and salad and an orange before bed...my weight has stalled but I will not give up.I am exhausted..two 3 day conferences in a  row and all the extra prepping for them as well as teaching four workshops/day at them both.

Of course after 4 hours in bed NOT sleeping, I gave up and came down here and started glueing again and tying ribbons.

As much as I enjoy my work, I am drained right now. Maybe I can sleep for a few hours until my 12 noon meeting again this afternoon...then sorority dinner meeting tonight and BPW dinner meeting Wed evening, Thursday I pack and have to have all of the presentation props ready...the conference is 2 hours out of town. Well back to bed...HAPPY TUESDAY!

I'm doing a quick drive by too. I've been quite busy with  artistic endeavors...my favorite! Tomorrow night I weigh in and I think I'm down at least three pounds. I bought some protein drinks at Costco today and those are going to be my breakfast for a while. I'll try o talk more tomorrow.

Trish,

after you get the injection in your hip, you be careful....I tore my rotator cuff to another degree because after I got the shot, I thought, wow, this is good stuff and went crazy doing things I shouldn't and just tore the cuff so much....it's not good so let the bursitis get better.....Looks like your food is doing good....one day one hour one bite...that's all any of us can do, right?

We also have walking and bike trails that go all through Fayetteville....the only down side to Fayetteville is its a mountain and full of trees and plants and eagles and hawks and coyotes.  Every morning, I get to work right at 7 and there's a mama fox that I have been giving a little cat food to because she has a den full of babies and I just want to make sure she eats well....as a payment, she stands right outside my window and I watch her eat, stretch, and bathe before she goes back to her babies.  Our campus is full of rabbits and squirrels...a ton of birds.  Magazine Mt. which is about 4 hours from here has a butterfly festival every year and we go to that....Magazine Mt. has the most species of butterflies as any mountain in the world, or so I've heard. A friend of mine takes people on tours to the water falls...hey, look at this...http://www.exploretheozarksonline.com/activities/parksnature /nationalforests/ozark/bigpiney/gloryhole.html we go here often...it's a little hike off the rode but it's so worth it.

I live in Fayetteville and down the mountain is to the River Valley about 30 miles east of Ft. Smith. There are several very small communities surrounding Fayetteville but I bet you would love Fayetteville...it's small town living at its finest. We have the  best theater compliments of the Waltons and we have Crystal Bridges, which is free and has tons of walking trails. We go often...it's beautiful.  Normally, we have mild winters but every once in a while, we have some pretty bad snow but it's still nothing like what most people see and it doesn't stay long.
