A few years ago, we had some bullies on our board. In fact, one was a male and he hated my guts and I don't know why. If I said yellow he said red and it got where I hated to come to the board but I was going through a horrible crisis with my WLS complications and had some good friends here so I continued to come and comment. That guy and a couple of others began taunting me; he would send me horrible and I mean horrible messages. One-by-one some of his female fan club started blocking me or hiding their comments from me. I would try to make comments and others would see the entire conversation and I would not know what they were talking about so finally I realized that I couldn't be a part of a board where bullying by my friends was going to go on so I left. I stayed gone for a long time and when I came back, some of the same women who had bullied me were still on the board and they still had me blocked and until one day I realized that conversations were going on around me and I wasn't participating and I called everyone's attention to the immature behavior. Now I don't consider myself higher or mightier than anyone else here but if you make a comment on the board and selective block other members, I would consider that divisive and unhealthy. I have done nothing to anyone on this board and as far as I'm concerned, neither has Julia. What happened on FB is for FB and not for our board but a couple of you have blocked me and are making comments in which I cannot see or respond. At this point, I hope you are really proud of yourselves. Of all the stress that so many of us have going on in our lives, then this! Well, you won't run me off this time. Play your little games; I will talk to those who aren't hiding from me. Our board members don't need the **** that was dropped on our door step.
To everyone, life is way too short.
I will make comments on a political thread if someone has commented, but I suppose feelings are strong on both sides of the aisle.
But this group, I thought, was special. Very special.
I USED to get upset when people on the opposite side of what my political beliefs are used to post, but I can't. I lost a good friend because of that and promised to never do that again.
And no matter what one's beliefs are, there are others on the other side with beliefs just as strong.
And in the end, life is way, way too short to let things like this upset us. This is a group I recently joined. Posting on the main page of Obesity Help there are plenty of bullies.
Please people, put aside your differences because, after all is said and done, these are people who have talked to each other on this blog for a long time.
Friendship is more than getting upset with another person. Because in the end, again, life is way too short.
Please, there is enough horrible stuff going on in the world, yes, I do mean people starving and all that. Can't we all get along?
Wow! I don't know what to say. I think that what we all need to do is realize that politics, religion, and masturbation are things left off of OH...okay, maybe masturbation can be here from time to time but definitely this should be a zone free of politics and religion. And, as it turns out, the religion is very active on this board and from time-to-time, I am offended by some of the comments but I quit trying to get folks to realize how it makes me feel...likewise, when people post comments that can lead to politics, I try to shut it down because truthfully, no matter how much you hate the president or you hate one or more candidates, if it is brought up on here, I will do some talking. I am glad we keep this a neutral zone and it should remain this way. What ever the hell happened on Facebook should stay there....I can tell you that on my Facebook page, folks post those anti-Hillary comments all the time and I engage in a bit of political debate, which they cannot win and I tell them, if you post it on my feed, I will respond. I won't open the door, but I will regulate fully with sources to support my claims.
So, when you bring your anger in here and upset everyone, it is unfair to the rest of us. We are friends with Julia and we are friends with Vic and Connie. While I don't want to take sides, I will not allow anyone to be bullied or attacked...gang behavior doesn't belong on our board. BTW, that is why I am not friends with too many of my WLS friends...because on FB, I do talk a lot about politics and see what happens....
If this matter was that upsetting, it should have been dealt with OFF OH.

When I post on Facebook, I welcome discussion of anything I post there. I've never brought political stuff to OH. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way.

I am on my way to teach but will join the conversation when I get back. If it wasn't on our board, why is it being brought here....although, I like a little political picture posting....I'll be back.

NOW this is very inappropriate and childish. Just so everyone knows what happened before you start calling people bad apples and inappropriate. Vickie put a very right wing political picture on Facebook that caused a reaction from myself and one other person from OH. We both reacted in a respectful way I think. Vickie told us that she didn't ask for us to comment...all I said was that I felt strongly about what she put on there and felt the need to comment. It had nothing to do with OH except that we have all been on here and are friends here. I think Vickie is just having a bad day.

You aren't talking about leaving our group are you? I thought all was good & so look forward to both of your posts! It would be awful to not have you here!
I don't understand about the one bad apple...not my business, but can't whatever is going on be resolved if it is about one person?
I'd hate for WHOLE group to fall apart bc of ONE person! There is such a history here!
