I'm back. We ran down the hill yesterday (about a 2 hour drive one way) to take our grandkids their Easter things. I made my granddaughter some spring clothes and one very frilly Easter dress, and I took them down to her last night, picked her up, took her shopping for shoes and a new purse, then took her out to eat. She is tall like her mother and has very large feet so finding a pair of little girl shoes that fit her is almost impossible, but we found a pair of shoes in the tween section of the shoe store and I had a piece of fabric from her dress in my purse and you would think the shoes were painted with the exact dye as the dress...it was a perfect match. We also picked her up a pair of sandals and tennis shoes. She is singing a solo in their church today and she is also singing with a teenage group (she is 8). I texted her before they left for church and I said don't be nervous and she said, I am never nervous singing in church...people there don't judge. I thought sure they don't judge.
I am making a bean casserole for today and a vegetable casserole (root vegetables with one acorn squash and a bunch of mushrooms) because my sister and her daughter in laws and my daughter cannot cook anything without putting either chicken, pork, or beef in it. They wrap their green beans in bacon...So I take our food which they all eat too. Anyway, ladies, have a good day.
Happy Easter Ladies,
I am putting the last touches on the food that I am taking to my sisters. Let me run stir a pot...BRB
Hello Jeannie......I am so sorry about the news of Kenny's illness. I hope all works out well for him. It must be hard for you to deal with this too. I am keeping you both in my thoughts.
I hope I never get anything spilled on my computer again!! Thanks for the advice. I will tip it over right away! Last night I put the keyboard cover back on the keys. I had taken it off the evening before the spill. I seem to have to hit the keys little harder with it on. That is why I took it off in the first place.
I remember making birds nests too. I always used the short cakes. Some people make them with chocolate and chowmein noodles. I don't care so much for those.
Have fun at your sister's egg hunt!
Love and many hugs to you....connie d
Vickie....the cake looks great!! The boys are so cute!! Budder with frosting on his face makes me laugh!!! The picture of you and Budder is one of the sweetest pics I have seen!!
Have a fun and Happy Easter!!!
Love and more hugs......connie d
Hi sistas!
Wow, I am wiped out! Very very very busy day! But we did some fun things with the boys today and I got a couple of pictures to share. Trish, here's our Easter cake. How did yours turn out?

After the boys left, I worked out in my yard for a couple of hours. I transplanted some petunias and things I've been growing in pots on the back porch out into my new flower beds. I'm as ready for the Bunny to hide eggs tomorrow as I can manage.
I think I'm too tired to eat supper. I just want a bath and bed. Love you all!
Remember, if you spill stuff on it again...quickly unplug it and flip it over so the liquid will run back out and stay away from the mother board. Apples insides are pretty secure and protected but still, it is always best to make sure no current is going to it and it is key board down so the drink will run out....Glad it is working.
Hey Trish,
I used to make the bunny cake with the big ears. LOL...when my kids were teenagers and I sort of had hoped to stop with the Easter egg/basket/cake stuff, my son and daughter both threw a fit but my daughter makes it now and does a pretty good job.
If the pollen is as high where you are as it is here, you need to stay put...I swear my nose is bright red and my eyes will not quit crying...These Ozark Mts. are toxic with pollen.
Ladies, have a good Easter.
Vic,
We are taking things a little at a time. He didn't quite understand why the oncologists is involved without there being a positive biopsy so he thinks the oncologists is working with his prostate doctor....anyway, hopefully we get a plan soon.
I always make birds nest with my grandkids and they are so easy to make. I use those Hostess short cakes and make white powder sugar icing. We die coconut green or whatever color the kids want and we use jelly beans. The older kids are able to spread the white icing all over their short cake and I do it for the little ones and then they can put the coconut (grass) in the cup part of the cake as if it is a nest and then they put the jelly beans....we usually make some with and some without coconut and the ones without can be used with strawberries.
We are going to my sister's tomorrow for the egg hunt. My granddaughter is the youngest of the kids, the rest being teenagers, but the big kids still hunt eggs with her. I sure do dread going down there with Kenny being sick so I may get there for the egg hunt so that I don't have to spend too long. If Kenny feels like it, we may stay longer but he is so sick.
Have a good Easter.
Hello Vickie.....it does sound like a busy kitchen day at your house!! The kids will love of it all!! I like that cake that you are making too. People have been posting it on Facebook the last few weeks. Have FUN!!!
You haven't mentioned how the apartment hunting went with Carrie and your mom. Anything even a little acceptable? She will have to adjust to not having everything exactly the way she wants it. I hope it works out soon.
Love and hugs to you....connie d
Good Afternoon Trish and everyone....
Trish....I am so sorry you are so sick. I hope the medications help soon.
I am glad you scratched the dog Easter Egg Hunt. If you are weak you don't need to be outside doing that. Pollen is high. I have had a runny nose for weeks now.
That bunny cake is going to be so cute! I use to make them all the time when my girls were young. They made them for their children when they were young too. I am sure your grandchildren will love it too!!
Try to get some sleep this afternoon if you can. You need rest to get better. ![]()
Love and hugs to you...connie d
