I'm looking at a lot of work-- will be over 200 pounds weight loss and it shows-- started at 368 pounds with 48H breasts and 65 inch hips...whew! I don't expect they'll cover the arms (despite the fact I got a hellacious case of hangies)-- they may cover the belly (it covers my pubis when standing)-- and dunno about the breasts-- I went from 48H to 36D and lost a lot of volume but still could stand to lose more due to back pain. What're my chances on coverage? I have a pretty inclusive BC/BS policy...what was your experience?

First of all, congratulations on your amazing success.  This is what I've discovered along the way.  Some insurance companies will cover a panniculectomy but not an abdominoplasty (mine covered the abdominoplasty).  I was able to get my BR/BL covered, only because the BR was part of the equation.  I was not able to get my arms covered and although I never tried, I don't believe they would have done my thighs (frankly they're okay).   There is one lady here named Sarah who appealed and had her arms covered but she will be needing multiple surgeries and I'm not sure where she's at with that. Good luck.

I got my panni covered (had to pay extra for the muscle repair), as well as my LBL and thigh lift.  I am also getting a BL (I have to pay for the BA portion), and they are covering my back resection, axilla repair and brachioplasty. They covered the panni with no problems.  I had to appeal and fight for the rest...but I won!

And, in the end, I distilled everything down to one wonderfully simple principle: win or die.

Good luck yo you.   My pannus hung almost to my knees and I was denied it all depends on the insurance co.    My before and afters are on my profile if you want to see them.    I had huge amounts of skin like you do but I only lost 140 but at only 5'1" that was a massive amount of skin for me.   I am going in next week to get lipo done to midsection ( muffintop ) that I was left with due to freak complications that arose during my LBL May 07.    Good luck to you as you seak insurance approval.   Hope they approve you.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

I think with that much skin on your arms they should pay for it....(but some  insurance companies are *******s!!!!)  I know I fought with my first insurance company for over a year to get a LBL covered...and they denied me time and time again.  I switched insurance companies and they approved a LBL, and a male breast reduction  the same day they got the request. I honestly think it depends on the insurance company itself.  Just document document document and most importantly document....rashes pains and numbness associated with excess skin.  I think it was Sarah (sarahlicious?) on the main forum who got her arms covered .....I lost 300 lbs and my arms aren't beautiful, but they aren't terrible.....I do have some rashing but I don't know if they will pay for it.  I'm very happy they paid for the big stuff, and I'll worry about the smaller stuff later.
