thigh lift experiences?
hi everyone,
I am absolutely having the TT, and the way that was described was that there would be an incision all the way up above my belly button so the top roll of skin would come off. I believe that is the fleur de lis inscision..
Anyway, I am still the fence with the thigh lift. The DR called it a medial thigh lift and said it would be an incision in the crease of my legs and the top roll of skin and fat would be taken care of. There would be no stitches down my leg.
Is the thigh lift really worth it? Can someone share their photos with me....I am really concerned about the recovery and how that part of the body will heal. Do all thigh lift pts get openings/separations?

HI
I am having an inner thigh lift. I will be cut from the knee up to the groin area with a long incision.
my PS feels you get better results with the long incision versus the one at the top of the legs. He says sometimes you have to substitute scar for skin and I would rather have the scar then skin. He did a full TT on me in December and my incision is amazing. check out my pix of my TT. my thighs look like a shar paei dog I didn't post thigh pix yet after my thigh surgery I will post b4 and after
good luck to you

I am scheduled to have an lbl and medial thigh lift on March 19th. I'm happy to share the photos with you if your procedure is after mine. My inner thighs are so saggy that I cannot wear shorts or any bathing suit (even a skirt!). If I had to choose between the two procedures, I'd pick the thigh lift. I know I don't want the incision down my leg because I am already self conscious about the scars on my arms from my arm lift. It's all a personal choice. My pre-op is this Friday and I'll have much better information about the actual procedure and recovery.

Hi sweetie!
As you know, I had the thigh lift on Feb 2, along with my LBL. It has been a rocky road, but I feel like I have had more ups and downs with the LBL.
I had the thigh lift that goes from knee to groin in terms of incision. Personally, for cosmetic reasons, I would have liked the groin only incision...I think that is awesome. However, from what I have heard and read, the results over time, are better with the knee to thigh incision. I guess this is because of gravity; more tissue can be manipulated with the knee to groin cut, therefore there is less chance of drooping. The groin only cut can only get rid of so much.
With that said, I guess results would vary. If you have loose inner thigh skin only really close to the groin area I would bet the groin incision would be great. If you have saggy skin that starts close to the knee, perhaps the long knee to groin cut would show better results.
Certainly, for surgical scars, the groin only cut is a dream! And I would think less cutting, less chance of wound openings and such. That is awesome.....but long term, I'm not sure you will get the same results....
My scars on my legs are pretty thin. I did have wound seperations that actually closed with just gauze and tape, and then my surgeon steri stripped them back and they SEEM to be doing great....but I know this can chnage and at any time I could get another wound separation. My LBL is proof of this...I have one huge wound on my belly abovethe mons area, one of each hip and one on my butt crack.
I will say, in terms of the thigh lift, I have heard this surgery has VERY high rate of wound separation and complications. Thighs and arms are very tricky in terms of recovery.
Here is my advice if you go for the thighs: Lie down a lot. You will be sick of it, trust me, but avoid sitting as much as you can as this position just welcomes wound separations. Lay down and lay down some more! The thing is though....this is for an incision like the one I had; the knee to groin....perhaps your instructions will differ?
I will say that my thighs were the one area on my body that I wanted surgery on more than any other, including my tummy. I hated, hated HATED my inner thighs! Clotes covered my belly and everything else....but when I wore shorts, or my bathing suit, or a skirt, I hated that saggy skin on my inner thighs. Everyone said it could havebeen worse and I know it could have been, but to me, it was horrible! I hated it! So I always said if I ever had plastics, I would have my thighs done.
As it turned out, I was able to do the LBL which was great, but if I had to choose, and only have ONE surgery; if my dad (who paid) said, "Pick a surgery; thighs or LBL" I would 100%, no hesitation, would have picked my thighs. As I said, mhy tummy had saggy skin too, but I could have lived with it; clothes worked wonders. I was lucky that I had both surgeries (well, lucky isn;t how I feel right now due to my emotional state, but you know what I mean...I just feel so down in the dumps.....but I know I was lucky to have been able to have plastics). However if I had to choose, without a doubt, I would have picked thighs.
I can't wait until summer, when I can wear shorts, or my bathing suit or a cute short skirt or dress, and not have to worry about that nasty wrinkly skin on my inner thighs. I can't wait.
I would love to show you pics...as soon as I load some on the computer I will let you know.
Best of luck with your decision. The TT and medial thigh lift are routinely done togther. Receovery can be hell, but if you rest and take it easy, and not bend or stoop, and lie down A LOT even when you feel like you should get up, you should be fine. I mean, it of course it is good to walk around a bit to avoid circulation issues/blood clots, but my point is, the thighs are sensitive after a lift and separations are a HUGE possibility.....
Best of luck, hon. You have always been there for me, so if you ever have questions about the medial thigh lift or if you need to chat, I am here for you!
Hugs,
Denise

Hi,
I had the thigh lift you are talking about. Denise is right in that this won't take care of extra sagging at the knee area. In my case I didn't have alot of that so the groin cut was all I needed. I will have a little droop at my right knee but not bad.
I had the thigh lift with the LBL. It is a hard recovery. I had several open wounds, 5 in all, in the groin cut and at the point of intersection where the LBL/groin and mons incisions meet. One picture on my profile shows the one big hole at 5 weeks. Now at 9 weeks, this big hole has almost completely healed.
For me I had alot of swelling as well. Primarily at the lower butt/upper thigh area. This puts alot of pressure on the upper thigh incision. I also had Butt Aug so I am sure that contributed to the swelling as well.
Now that I am at 9 weeks I am feeling better about everything, swelling is improving, 5 of 7 holes are healed, 2 holes are close and I can move so much better now. Ask me at week 3 to week 7 and i was feeling different about it all. Those were pretty emotional weeks.
It was worth it all to me. I just wished I had been a little more prepared for the type of recovery I ended up with.
I guess just know that we are strong, with what we have been through in our past life/self has made us strong. We deserve to have the body we want and we can make it happen!

Hello,
Congrats on your upcoming surgery.
I had the thigh lift 1-7-09 along with an arm lift.
I have not had any problems yet. Knock on wood. My incision is the hockey stick one. The 2nd week PO I tried to lift my leg up to tie my shoe, and I felt the "pull" well, had very small seperation down by my knee.Just had to keep it dry, It has healed up fine. My PS did leave the few staples I had in the groin area for 4wks. I think this REALLY helped me. I did loose all the very saggy skin in the front of my thighs, but they still seem big. Much better looking than before, but not what I expected. But my thighs were HUGE. So I am just trying to do more exercise and see.
Good luck,
Montie
