Residency Program Questions
I'm using the University of Washington's residency program for an extended abdominoplasty. I was going to have surgery in November, but when I went to UW Medical Center for my consultation, I really felt completely comfortable with the resident I met with and when we got to talking about possible surgery dates, I found out his final day in his residency is Friday, October 30. So, we checked for his last openings and scheduled me for that Wednesday, October 28. I completely forgot to ask about a pain pump, though, so will be checking on that at my pre-op appointment on October 20 with my resident and the chief surgeon who will be with him in the surgery room.
I was originally going to go to Dr. Sauceda, but my family was worried about the activities around Monterrey - I tried to explain to them that the town is safe, but that didn't convince them. Then I decided that in case something did go wrong or I had complications, I'd rather be closer to home. I heard from a couple friends on here that they went through the residency program and were thrilled with their results. I'll be having my arm and breast lift done here, too, as soon as I save up for those.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance. Unknown
There are excellent surgeons all over the world, and quality work speaks for itself.
Concerns with surgery outside the U.S. are that you may have limited (or no) insurance coverage in case of problems, no legal protection, and all breast implant warranties (worth free implants and over $1000) are void. Cosmetassure, which covers complications for the first month, is also limited to surgery performed in the U.S.
Revisions and any other concerns/questions/office visits beyond your 2 week stay (and there are plenty of them) may likely require more travel, or care by someone other than the operating surgeon. Delays in diagnosis can be an issue here.
Travel, especially longer trips, after surgery increases blood clot risk, requiring the use of Lovenox .
Like any surgery, deciding to go out of the country requires a little more research and planning so you can get the facts, weigh the pros and cons, and decide what works best for you.

Thanks Heidi.
I truly wake up most mornings looking forward to my day. Of course, I also feel I am only as good as my last performance, which is good for the perfectionism. And going nuts.
