support stockings. or thigh highs. socks??

Did any of you use any type of support stockings on your legs after surgery? I plan to but I am not sure if I need thigh high type of just up the knee. I have superfical vericose veins from pregnancy and weight. Only one leg ever cuauses any mild discomfort. But, I do fear blot clots..
What did you use, why? And do you have any suggestions?

What surgery are you having? I did not wear anything after I returned home from my TT.

Weight on Day of Surgery: 261lbs
Current Weight: 152 lbs

When I woke up from my surgery my legs were wrapped in a stretchy ace like bandage. They took them off after my surgery.
