Yep its me again the one who had braicoplasty and one arm the stitches busted open and had to have a wound vac on for a mouth..and was suppose to have a skin graft next well i decided to hold off on that due to the fact i have to come up with the money for that so im doing wet to dry twice a day wound care. so was wondering how long before my skin grows back, the wound is closed guess now its just a matter of time the skin covering up the wound, i still have a major indent/hole or now its the size of a triangle i still don't look at it the nurse changes it . i just still cant look just disturbs the hell out of me,. will the indent ever go away?? i guess i will just have a MAJOR SCAR .THAT later i can have a revision.. but when will the indent go away as the skin fills in?? Is there anyone out there that has gone threw this i have done research back and forth on Internet looking for stories like mines there has to be someone out there that went threw something like this i want to know how did it end does it better. its like looking threw and empty tunnel..

Wish I had complete answer but I think it is individual depending on how you heal, size of wound and treatment to close it. Offhand I would think four months bug I don't know why I think that. My TT gangrene which looked the size of a thick dime, after debridement, was made to appear larger and on a Vac in hospital took almost seven weeks. My right breast in anchor breast kift, had opened and looked blistery and then was stitched closed in September but reopened within five days. It has been closed since before Hanukah and it looks fine now.
Different area of the body so different level of tension.
Maybe others will have answers.

Well my TT was October 22 About 2 weeks later I started to get an open wound....it got pretty big (in my opinion) roughly 5.5 inches across and 4 inches too to bottom at one point. Fast forward 9 weeks to today, and my wound is still open, it's currently smaller yes, but still open. It is about 2.5 inches across and the same top to bottom.
I follow my doctors wound care instructions to the T and it has closed some but like I said it's still open. I just remain positive, I know my body is healing the wound because I can see the wound becoming smaller. I'm not worried about the scar I'm more concerned with the wound closing and still thankful to have my excess skin gone. I dress my wound twice a day just as I've done for the last 9 weeks since it developed. I don't see an end in sight, as it's been 9 weeks and it's only half the size it was at it's biggest, but I remain hopeful and thankful for my excess skin to be gone!

It's not the same story as yours like you'd asked for, but it's my story, and I too am dealing with an open wound that is slow to heal, slower than what yours took to fully cover itself it sounds like.

My tummy tuck incision turned necrotic and I had a crater in my belly that took over 5 months to heal up completely.  Once it has healed to about the level of the surrounding skin, it took about 3 weeks to complete the skin growth.  Be careful because the new skin is extremely fragile and can be torn juts getting dressed and undressed.

Well that sounds like good news to my ear.. I believe mines was necrotic to and a crater the measurements when i got wound vac on a month ago were 7.0 long x 5.5 Wide X 0.5 deep, and its know where that size now i haven't taken a new measurement but the nurse says no where near when i first began..So u telling me your story now i can finally get some relief.. Thanks wink also i keep it wrap since im getting the dressing change twice a day..

I was wondering about the fragility of the new skin, Lora so thanks for posting that. Sounds like a long road ahead if yours took 5+ months to heal up! I'm just over 2 months with this wound, which also started as necrotic tissue. I just want to be able to relax in a nice hot bubble bath!! That used to be my cure all and stress reliever for me.

I know exactly what you mean. I also used bubble baths to release stress and I really missed it during those months!
