Knocked down and angry

Got an insurance letter saying they want more documentation. Read: Six months of dermatology appointments for rashes and PT for lower back pain. The max my insurance will cover is $1500 and I'd be paying that much anyway for all this documentation. So I said, let's just go ahead w/o their coverage.

My quote was around $8000.

I contacted the surgeon's office and they said, oh, that quote included insurance coverage. So they gave me a NEW quote w/o insurance coverage of $1200.

What kind of math is that?

I got financing and income tax that JUST cover the $8K. I don't have an additional 4K to pull out of my purse.

I feel so defeated. I want this skin gone. I still feel like I'm 300 lbs as long as I have it.

What are you having done?  Are you open to traveling out of the country for surgery?  You can take pics of your front, side, back, and other side and send to [email protected] and he'll get back to you with a quote.  If it's over $7000, it's all-inclusive for up to 12 days at the Hampton Inn, your clinic time, surgery, 2 sets of garments and up to $600 of your airfare.  You do need a passport.

Thanks, it might be an option. I need to think more clearly when I'm not so upset. It's just one defeat after another, you know?

I so understand.  When I was trying to get my DS, the WL surgeon sent an email to my PCP saying I wasn't big enough for WLS.  I was 5'1" and 225 lbs with high bp, cholesterol and was insulin dependent.

One thing, as you combine procedures, the price goes down.  Lick your wounds and have a good cry.
