Things are still progressing well however today I got my monthly gift from Mother Nature which didn't help things. I felt weak, sad, crampy etc and ended up using pain pills which helped me sleep.

My drain is leaking a lot at the area where it enters my body - to the point that when I sit down I have to have gauze pads ready because there is a little gush and I soak 2-3 small gauze pads easily. I've talked to the nurse and surgeon and apparently this happens sometimes and as long as the drain is still collecting/draining fluid and the site isn't infected it's ok but to be sure I'm going to see the surgeon tmr. There's no pain at all it's just a pain in the butt and gross. Anyone else had this or heard of this?

Also, not sure if it was my cycle, hormones, frustration from drain, surgery, chemicals from all the meds, etc or a combination but I was quite emotional today and cried 2 or 3 times which isn't like me at all. Apparently this too isn't uncommon. I don't regret this at all of course, just not feeling great mentally today compared to all my other days so far.

Good luck to anyone embarking on their PS journey - hopefully these posts help normalize things a little (and gives those of us who are bored at home recovering something to read lol)

So helpful, thank you!! I've read of others having their period bought on by surgery. That's adding insult to injury!

The emotional response is a normal part of surgery recovery, I think. I had a couple of breakdowns over the first week and one about 2 week post op too.

Did they tell you to strip your drains each time that you empty them? Mine never leaked around the insertion site.
