Does anyone know for sure what the co-morbidities HAVE to be for this insurance to cover?

I have had high blood pressure in the past, as well as irregular periods, asthma and joint pain.

My insurance must be looking at my current weight vs. previous weights and issues.

Very annoying!

 Thank you. :)

I imagine they did not look at my presurical weights.

I also assume that insurance wants to make this as difficult as possible, so they don't have to pay.

Good Morning all you Beautiful people,

This coming saturday is our monthly support group breakfast in Haltom City, Texas.    We meet at Sunny Street Cafe.......5000 Western Center Blvd......Haltom City 76137.    We meet at 9 AM and everyone is welcome whether you have had your WLS, just thinking about it or where ever you are in your journey.    We are having the breakfast a week early due to the holiday weekend shopping that will be going on next weekend.    SO if you plan on attending the breakfast please let me know.    We have to give a head count to the cafe saturday AM before we arrive so there will be enough seats for everyone.    Have a blessed week and hope to see you there.

  Good Morning Everyone,

I am up WAY to early this AM due to my 21 yr. old slamming a door at 3 AM.   UGH don't ya just love your kids.   LOL   Oh well.....I see a nap calling my name later on today.    We ALL have SO very much in our lives to be grateful for.    Today I am SO grateful for my life and health.    None of us have any guarantees in life.    My health prior to WLS was one thing that I truly didn't value very much.    Now I worry at times that my vitamins are where they are suppose to be.   I go to the doctor on wednesday for my 6 yr. check up.    I can't believe that next week on the 22nd it will be 6 yrs. since I had my WLS.   WOW how fast time has gone by.    I am SO grateful that I have had no major issues due to my WLS.   I am grateful for my life and all the enjoyment that I get out of it now since my WLS.    SO grateful for so many many things in my life but I am certainly so grateful for the blessing of a second chance to have a more productive life in a thinner body.    Grateful for my family, Faith and answered prayers also along with many many more things.    PLEASE share with us if you will what you are grateful for today.    Have a blessed day !!!

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Topic: Throat Air?

I am 15 months post op with the Realize Band.  I have lost a total of 72 pounds and feel great except for two things:

1) After I eat or drink anything I get noise in my throat (sounds like air coming up).  This also happens at night for 20-30 minutes when I first lay down.  Not really a burp, just air sounds.  Anybody else experience this?

2)  Even with taking a probiotic and eating lots of dark green leafy vegies... I have been having lots of problems with constipation.  Is this because I am eating less and therefore have less waste? or is this a side effect of having the band?  I have never been a "everyday girl" but it's gotten to where its more like an every 5 day thing and then I have to work at it.

Appreciate feedback.

P.S. I do have a follow up with my doc later this week but thought I would post for others experiences.

Topic: Fellow Banders in the LA Area - info on Meetup group in Burbank
About three months ago, I started a Meet-up group for those who seek a supportive environment to discuss our banding experience - pros, cons, all opinions - but supportive!

The group is also to help those considering banding, or any bariatric surgery, so that they have an environment to comfortably ask questions of those who have HAD surgery.

This group is not endorsed by any particular medical facility, doctor, or product manaufacturer.  However, we do get some perks from supplement suppliers, etc., via samples, but they do not govern how we meet or what we discuss - just offer perks!

We have a meetup on Thursday, November 23, in the Burbank area. Please feel to join us by joining the Meetup group.  The group is called Banded to Lose:

http://www.meetup.com/Lap-Band-Meetup/events/40522272/

About me: I had banding surgery in May of 2010 .  I can honestly say that my experience has been a very good one and that I have lost 68 lbs.

Obesityhelp.com has been a major part of my life as a support and information sharing community.  It was also instrumental in helping me make my decision to get banded.  If this is your first time to Obesityhelp.com, and you are considering any kind of bariatric surgery, you are definitely in the right place!

If you want to meet and talk with others locally, please RSVP and feel free to join us at our meetup group!

Before appealing, make sure you know your State's laws regarding appeals. Example, in NJ: you can only appeal 3 times. If denied all 3 times, you cannot appeal any longer, and you're "prohibited" to have the operation with that insurance company FOREVER.

My advice, double check your information!!

(Read between the lines):

You may be SHORTER than what was written down. Example: at 5'5 the "cut off" BMI is 239 (that's a BMI of 39.8). At the same weight a person who is 5'4 has a BMI of 41.0 and 5'3 it's 42.3. So again, you may be SHORTER then you thought (or what was written down).

I've also know people who after denials had themselves weighed again by the Doctor. (Keep reading between the lines). If you this, make sure you don't have extra WEIGHTS in your pockets because that could make you heavier!! One person I know had an extra 10 pound weight in their pocket, and they didn't realize it until the got home. Imagine their suprise.

Hope this was helpful.

Good luck!!!
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

Topic: MONDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Morning my friends,

Hope everyone had a good weekend.   Hope everyone is getting ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday next week.    Hard to believe that is is already that time of the year.    Make sure everyone to plan for your Thanksgiving meal and make wise choices and watch your portion sizes.   Remember to not stress over it and remember it is ONE day and only one day.     I will post some dessert recipes in the next few days so watch for them.    Trust me....no one will know that they are Sugar Free.    We ALL have so very much to be grateful for and it seems like at this time of the year is just about the only time when people say what they are grateful or thankful for.     We really should be grateful everyday for what we are grateful for.    Today I am SO grateful for the holidays and all the Christmas lights that I know will soon be up everywhere.   I am grateful for my life, health, family and friends.    SO grateful for my WLS and all thw WLS available.   Grateful for my Faith and answered prayers.    Grateful for Teen Challenge and their program for susbstance abuse.....in the 4 months that my son has been there he has totally turned his life around and turned away from his addiction    Grateful for second chances at a better more healthier life since my WLS.    Grateful for ALL the wonderful people that are here on Obesity Help and grateful....SO very grateful for the website.    Have a blessed week and PLEASE share with us if you will what you are grateful for today.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
