Topic: RE: Hello Everyone
thanks everyone. I finally got my approval today and my surgery day is set. August 30th. Its a huge relief just knowing its almost time.  Not to say my nerves aren't still there. Its like ahhhhhhh!!!! but in a good way.

Jodiboda, how are you feeling?

I have heard so many good and bad stories about this procedure, and I am hoping I am on the good end. I deal really well with pain (I have 4 children which is enough pain to last a lifetime) always have.

Thanks for all those for sent your concerns. Yes I did go to the ER this morning. Even through my pain meds I was still bent double in pain. I got to the ER, the took x-rays, gave me an IV drip with pain meds, took blood and urine sample. The meds only made me sleepy, and if I was real still very little pain so they dosed me again and still if I moved it was horrible. Everything come back CLEAR except the urine, I had blood in it, so they set up a CT scan. Before they set me for the scan the missionary priest from our church came in to see me, they anointed me with oil and prayer for me. It took about an hour for them to come get me for the scan and when she came in she had more pain meds but I told her I didn't think I needed them but she said the dr insisted. When I moved to go take the scan I have very LITTLE pain. That test also came back clean, the pain had completely gone, and I walked out the hospital on my own. Prayer is an amazing thing!!

Topic: RE: "Banders" not welcome?
I think some people feel the need to scream their opinions...sometimes we should really listen too, but sometimes the way things are said aren't the most inviting either.

For me personally, I feel a need to tell/educate people about some of the issues that I have personally experienced and seems like more and more are... The band is "SOLD" as a completely reversible, removable, great procedure. I have very mixed feelings about this. I have a failed band that slips all the time now...been dealing with it over a year now. Trying to discuss getting a revision, but turns out that nope, my surgeon won't do the revision, and now seeking out another surgeon doesn't seem to be going quite as planned either. There is also lots of issues with the band leaving so much scar tissue that it might be very difficult to remove without leaving damage behind and also very difficult to revise....therefore to ME, that is not quite reversible & removable and it is being sold. I think once you go through this type of scenario, it makes you much more adament to tell your story and make sure people see all the things that are happening. When I got my band back in 2008, there weren't near the horror stories there are now...

Good luck to you... I hope you have none of the negatives and have much success with your band!

Topic: RE: refilling band after pregnancy
The best advice I would give you is to go slowly. At least for me, my band was never the same post pregnancy. Sounds like more and more of that happening too. I hope you are an exception to that though. Pre Pregnancy I had about 6 cc in my band, with unfilling throughout pregnancy and the Dr put back in 3 or 4 cc about 2 months post pregnancy and it was horrible...at this point, I can't have anything in my band at all without it slipping, so I have to have removal and/or revision. Good luck to you!

Topic: SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT..........
I just checked my email and found this.    I think it is something we should all think about and I thought that I would share it with you.

When what you are doing is frustrating you, STOP. Pause to consider the true importance of the task. Reflect on whether there is a better plan for reaching your goal.

Have a blessed day !!!!

Topic: WEDNESDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Morning Everyone,

I had a pretty decent nights sleep last night so hopefully today will be a great day for me.    I know for myself I have SO much to be grateful for in my life.   It would take me hours to list everything that I am grateful for.     Everyday I hear someone say that they have nothing to be grateful for.    I know if the person saying that really thought about that statement they would know that isn't a true statement at all.    No matter how bleak or bad our life is...there is always something to be grateful for no matter how large or small.   After all.....most of us have 2 legs and arms, we can see ( or most of us can )....we have a brain that hopefully is working......just those little things that we sometimes take for granted.    Those are things to be grateful for on a daily basis.    I know that I myself am blessed beyond measures although at times life seems to feel as though it is against me also.    Let's all share some things that we are grateful for today.    Today I am grateful for my arms, legs, eyes and all my body parts ( even though they are far from perfect ),   Grateful for my health and life, my WLS and all the different WLS.    Grateful for my family who I love with ALL my heart.   Grateful for my fur babies and the joy that they bring to my life.   Grateful for health insurance and my husband's job.   Grateful for everyone who I interact with on OH on a daily basis.     Grateful for OH and for the upcoming OH Conference in New Orleans, La. Sept 9-10.    Grateful for the people *****ad and respond to this post on a daily basis.   Have a blessed day and please share with us if you would like.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Shelly7898,

If you're really concerned with the pain demand the Doctor see you and check it out. If you had a brand new car that wasn't working correctly, you'd bring it back to the dealer. Aren't you worth more than a car?

CONGRATS on the weight loss so far!! You're doing excellent.

Make sure you get in your Protein. That's the key to losing weight.

Also your liquids and vitamins are extremely important. Make sure you get them in.

Know we're here for you.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

“Nothing I will ever eat will give me the feeling I get as when I lose weight”  The views expressed are based on my own experiences - and should NOT BE FOLLOWED IN LIEU OF DOCTOR’S ADVICE/INSTRUCTIONS. Only your Doctor knows your condition, and make sure you talk to them before making any changes to your diet

I had my surgery on the 11th and every since then I have been having horrible pain about 3 inches below the port site. It is hot and it feels like I am being stabbed. I addressed it to the doctors and nurses and they told me it was just gas but I am still having it. I can not stand up straight because it hurts so bad. I am having gas pains from the gas moving around but its a differnt feeling. I am getting very concerned about this especially since none of the incisions hurt except when I try to cough, but I understand that is to be expected. If anyone has any advice please share. Also the port site is kinda indented about 1/2 of an inch, is that normal. BTW, I weighted 345 the morning of surgery, I am now 338 with very little appeitite. I am beginning to be able to tolerate the protein shakes but thats about it. I know I dont get enough water or vitamins but I am trying to improve on it.
