I agree exercise is one great way to break that plateau.

 

Remember, plateaus are normal. It seems the body “catches on" to what we have been doing, and holds onto everything. After a while, the lost restarts and things go well.

 

However, plateaus can also because by eating (a) too much (b) not enough. I know it sounds a little contradictory, and I will try to explain.

 

Too much: While we need to make sure we hit our protein requirements (60-80 grams, or whatever your Doctor told you), we need to make sure the carbs, calories, etc are “acceptable". Remember, you don’t want to make your 80 grams of protein by eating 4 gallons of ice cream or a starchy carb.

 

Not enough: Again, make sure you are meeting your daily protein requirements. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO WEIGHT LOSS. The body is a marvelous machine, and it will protect itself. If one doesn’t eat enough, the body’s metabolism will slow down - in order to keep itself functioning. If a person intake is less then what it expels, the body will start to “store" food.

 

Whenever I gain weight, and need to lose it and break the plateau, I remember to GET BACK TO THE BASICS !! I tell everyone that. Pretend today was day one of the operation and go back to a strict liquid diet. Do this for a few days (maybe a week), then go onto the next stage of soft food then finally regular food. What you are doing it is detoxing your body of the sugars and bad carbs. When you find yourself hungry – eat .. but SENSIBLE foods. Make sure you also follow all the rules.

  Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you are having a great week and are getting prepared for the weekend.    I know for me I am looking forward to it.    We ALL have so very much in our life to be grateful for.    This is a post to share what you too are grateful for today.    Today I am so grateful for my family and friends.    Life would really stink without them in my life.    Grateful also for my Faith and answered prayers....my WLS and all the choices today for surgeries....grateful for a second chance at a better...healthier life. Grateful for my health and no complications to my WLS.    Grateful for OH and for the upcoming OH Conference in New Orleans, La.   Sept. 9 - 10.  Please share if you will what you are grateful for today.

I just wanted to post that I made one of the goals that i had set for myself!!!  Although it is a NSV, I am excited about it

2 years ago at Christmas I was given a beautiful bracelet by my husband and I was not able to put it on...This morning I was able to put that bracelet on without having to use extenders....happy happy joy  joy ....next goal is to lose .2 lbs by monday to make 50 lbs lost

  Hello Everyone,

Hope your week is going well for you.     Mine has been very busy so far.    We ALL have so very much in our lives to be grateful for.    I am SO grateful for a friend of mine....Virginia.....who had WLS about 7 yrs ago.   She lived 1 1/2 hours away from me and came to see me on day when she was in town.   Now....I had known her my entire life....but had no idea she had WLS.     When she came to see me I didn't recognize her.     She encouraged me check into WLS and I did and the rest is history.    I am SO grateful for  her encouraging me to seek help for my morbid obesity.    Life offers us no guarantees from day to day and we have to be grateful for even the small things that happen in our lives.   I am grateful for my eyes too.    If you haven't noticed.....I wear glasses and have for as long as I can remember.    My eyes are far from being good....but at least I can see.    There are way too many things in my life that I am grateful for.   I try not to take things for granted in life.     Never know when they can disappear.    Please share with us if you will something or many things if you wish that you are grateful for today.     Have a blessed day !!!
