Topic: It's Been A While-UPDATE
Wow. I can't believe it's been nearly 2 months since my surgery!! It's going well. I'm down 39 pounds...and refuse to weigh again cause I keep fluctuating and even though I KNOW it's normal, it irritates me. So I'm adopting the once a week weigh in idea and if I DO cheat and get on the scale I've promised myself to just ignore the number I see. I'm super happy with my band and my success so far. I've gone down a size in pants and I believe I could go down 1 more if I really wanted to...LOL. I've not been as strict on myself as I should be...still eating the portions I'm supposed to but not always the foods I'm supposed to and not always the number of times I should....my Dr/Nut are "3 meals a day, no snacks" kinda people...I work 10-12 hours a day and it's hard to do that....so I do what works for me. BUT I need to get back to counting calories, etc AND I gotta join the gym. I've put it off because just moving my patients at work has been making me sore and I don't wanna pu****but our pool has been messed up and I havent been able to do my version of "water aerobics" for a couple of weeks....so to the gym it is!!! =) I'm excited to start working out again, just gonna be hard at first to make myself go after working all day...but once I start seeing those scales move I believe it'll get a lil easier!!!

I have a pretty major vacation coming up in September...I go every year...to a Car Show in Pigeon Forge, TN(I have a 66 mustang convertible)....so my goal is to be at 50 pounds lost by then....that gives me 5 weeks to lose 11-12 pounds...I CAN DO IT!!! It's way too early to be getting outta the swing of things....so I'm already going "back to basics"...here we go!!!

I have 2 coworkers who had RNY in April and I feel as though I am being compared to them...so I have to constantly explain to people WHY I chose the band and WHY I am ok with losing slower and WHY it's going to be best for me in the long run...it's annoying at times...but I'm educating people...and that feels pretty good!! =)

Hi Tom,

I have a follow up appointment with my doctor on Wednesday.  He had put me on some antibiotics because he thought I might have a infection.  I will have him take a look at it then.  I was just curious about the swelling because it has been two weeks, and it is weird how this one spot just kinda pokes out.

Thank you for the advice!

 Good Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and are now ready to start a new wonderful week.    My weekend was alright.   I wish I could say drama free but not.    We ALL have so very much in our lives to be grateful for.    Whether it be just waking up and being able to open our eyes and see....or to just be grateful for our arms and legs.    I hear people say all the time that they have a horrible life and have nothing to be grateful for...but if they really thought about things....they have SO MUCH to be grateful for.    Please share with us if you wish what you are grateful for today.    Today I am so grateful for my family.   I LOVE my 3 sons and husband with all my heart.   They are supportive of me ( but that was a different story almost 6 yrs ago when I had my WLS ).    They are proud of me and my WLS and I am too...although I wish I had lost more and made it to my goal weight.   I am grateful for my life and friends too.   SO grateful for second chances at making wiser and better choices.    Grateful for Obesity Help and all the wonderful people on this website and the message boards.   Grateful for the upcoming OH Conference in New Orleans, La.  Sept 9 -10.   Hope you are planning on attending it should be awesome.

Victoria,

I always suggest calling your Doctor in questions like this. It's always best to hear "that's quite common" instead of hearing "Why didn't you contact me when it first occurred".

Honestly, I think it's nothing - but best to be safe then sorry.
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

Hello everyone,

I had my surgery on July 18th and I am wondering about the swelling.  It seems everything has gone down on my belly, except the place where my port is.  I have a noticable bump.  Is this normal?

It doesn't hurt, it just looks like a alien is trying to get out!

Hi...My name is Pat...I'm seriously thinking of having the Realize surgery done if they wont hold my age against me....I'm 75 but think like a 55 yr old...I'm soooo curious about what you had to drink or eat 2 wks before your surgery....Did you spend the night in the hospital?   What is your diet like now?   How do I join the group of people on line of Realize patients...Well, that should keep you busy for awhile ( ha)   I really would love to hear from [email protected]

Topic: FRIDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone has lots of fantastic plans for the weekend.    It is now here upon us.    I know I have a support breakfast to attend in the morning.    We all know by the name of this post that it is a "Grateful Post" in which we share WHAT or WHO we are grateful for in our lives.   Some may say....I have nothing to be grateful for.....well.....you have eyes or you wouldn't be on the computer and here on OH.    That is something or you have had or are looking into WLS or wanting to have a positive change in your life or you wouldn't be on OH.    That is also something to be grateful for.     PLEASE share with us some of the things in your life or people that you are grateful for.    Today I am SO grateful for my family and close friends.    Grateful for my Faith and answered prayers,   that I am a STRONG woman of mind and body and I can handle more that comes my way than even I think I can.    Grateful for my WLS and that I have a new chance everyday to make better choices than the day before.    Grateful for second chance in our lives and for those "do overs" that we can do.    Grateful for Eric Klein for seeing the need and starting Obesity Help.   I personally would be so lost without OH.    Grateful for the upcoming OH Conference in New Orleans, La.   Sept 9-10.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
