 Kim you will get LOTS of walking in Las Vegas....particularly if you go to the Strip.   I went 2 yrs. ago and thought I was going to kill myself I walked so much.   LOL   It did feel good though.   As for how much you should be walking.   That would be a question for your doctor.   You want to make them aware of what you are doing and if they feel you are not doing enough they should be the one's to tell you to increase your activity not me.    I am not a medical anything.   LOL  I am just a homemaker who had WLS almost 6 yrs. ago and has kept it off.    Good luck to you and have lots of fun on your vacation and remember to drink LOTS of water and make wise food choices.

Thanks for this Vivian. I am going to take it to my nutritionist Thursday, and I am sure she will like what it says...problem I see is, so far I have been told 3 meals a day, one snack..2 oz protein each meal...I am really curious as to what she will say. I bet it works. I may have to wait til I get home from Vegas to start this though...

Thanks Vivian, for your encouragement! Maybe while we are in Vegas, we will be doing lots more walking than I am used to doing. Plus, my husband's folks live in a gated community that has a pool and a gym. I will be using those as often as I can, too. Is my understanding incorrect? I thought I was told that included in my 1/2 cup of food, I should be having 2 oz of some kind of protein and a carb. Is that ALL I can have? I see my nutritionist Thursday so I will get that clarified then, too. But what are some thought you (or anyone reading this) may have. I try to walk each day at least 3/4..and most days a whole mile. mile..and I go to aerobics class 2 x per week and yoga once a week...

My SMET:

Bending over to pick things up.....also tyeing my shoes.....fit into my bathrobe....walking and jogging....able to wear shoes with heels (not too high though), look at my ankles and actually like them....accept compliments....smile more....and get my picture taken....

Im sure there are more than this but thats all I can think of right now....

Thanks all for the well wishes!!!  Even though sometimes the numbers on the scale don't show, clothes and other areas show progress :-)  Its pretty cool to be known as a "loser"  I appreciate all of you guys and girls on the boards :-)

  You are probably asking what is SMET ???   SMET stands for SO MUCH EASIER TO......( after our WLS ).   Here is my SMET.....bend over and picking things up off the floor.....tie my shoes.......fit into a booth and bathroom stall.......walk, run, climb stairs.......get in and out of car.....find clothes that FIT my body......to be in photographs.     Now....please share some of yours with us.

 Plateau Buster Diet

 

How to break a plateau

 

#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau

 

#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day

 

#3 - You must have 50 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day

 

#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day

 

beef

pork

chicken

turkey

lamb

fish

eggs

low fat cheese

cottage cheese

plain yogurt or artificially sweetened

peanut butter ( the original doesn’t say….but I would limit this to once a day….also I would do one serving size and NOT 3 oz.)

beans/legumes

 

You may also have:

 

sugar free popsicles

tea or coffee

sugar free jello

broths/boullion

crystal light drinks

 

#5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!!

 

#6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily

 

 

In addition to the Plateau Buster, you can change up your exercise plan as well.  Such as if you are walking, change up things and do other exercises every other day so that you are not doing the same things on a daily basis.  You can also add weights.   Good luck !!!
