A-jsmommy,

What you’re going through many folk go through. So don’t be too disappointed.

I have a few questions for you: If you bought a new car, and it wasn’t performing like it should and you brought it back to the mechanic paid a lot of money, and he didn’t fix it the way you wanted to, what would you do? Or imagine you bought a expensive television, and it didn’t get the proper reception or channels, and the electronic store folks ignored you, what would you do? Aren’t you worth more then a car or television?

MY ADVICE: I would DEMAND to meet with your Doctor and talk about your concerns and frustration. The reason you’re not feeling full is because of something you’re doing wrong, but you’ll never know unless you talk to them. It could be the band isn’t doing the job. Again, you’ll never know unless you talk to them. If your Doctor refuses to address your concerns, I would suggest looking for another Doctor. I know 2 hours is a haul, and finding another Doctor may be a longer distance. However if they can address your concerns, the extra time may be worth it.

Know, no matter how many fills you receive, and how much restriction you get, you will still need to fight HEAD hunger. No weight loss operation in the world can prevent Head Hunger.

Know I (and many others) are here for you. Come back often.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

My sharing here on OH is from my own experience, strength, & hope.  I am not a medical professional.  Doctors and medical professional know best and their directions should be followed.

I was banded about a year ago and came to these forums several months before that. Although I have not been consistent in coming to the OH forums lately, I have found Obesity Help to be of great support !  But lately, I have found myself in need of something more and would like to meet and share with folk locally.

I have been searching for a local group in my immediate area where things like ongoing diet and life change issues can be discussed, meet others who are are going through the same or similiar process that I have, and share ideas, thoughts, questions, and the like about doctors, diet, hospitals/clinics and excercise.  I have yet to find something close by that meets all that.  I know that have some nice tidbits to share, and have much to learn from others, so I thought I would start a Meet-up group myself!

If you are interested in such a Meet-up, let me know.  The link to the profile page is:  Lap Band Meetup or post a message to me here and let me know what you think!

Good morning all!!

I just realized that I had a very small NSV on Friday....I went to buy some shirts and am in a smaller size, a 1X down to a XL...But, I did see a ring that I liked which was in a set...I went to have it sized up some, and the last ring i had sized up, it was into a size 9...This one was sized into a 8.5 and the one I had sized up, I am going to take it back in eventually and get it sized down...

THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST HERE!!  I have got to say I got banded April 15,2010.  I thought by now I would be WELL under 200lbs and not eating anything but a cracker....BUT here I am still able to eat normal...(potatoes, pasta, BREAD, Chicken)  Only got stuck a handful of times and that's only because I was eating too fast.  Can I say I have 9 ccs in my band.  Sure I'm down 45 pounds, but my friend with the lap band is down 100 lbs!!  So I have been VERY discouraged.  BUT I have made so much progress.  I am now a certified Zumba instructor and teach 3 times a week....hour long class.  I NEVER thought I could do that.  I know I have a ways to go, but I was hoping for "faster" results.  From my research realize bands are much different and most people don't feel good restriction until close to 10cc's.  WHY????  I don't know, but as long as your making progress that's the point of this whole journey.  I am just now realizing this, but I too wish that this would have gone a little faster.  KEEP IT UP!!!  I found that my obssesion for Zumba motivates me to keep going.  Find an activity that keep you motivated.  It really helps.  I would say Zumba accounts for 50% of my weight loss up to this point.  Maybe between the band and good food choice I'll get the other 50% I need!!  GOOD LUCK!!!

Topic: MONDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Morning Everyone,

I am up WAY too early today.   LOL  One of my son's has gone to Alabama to work this week and he woke me up at 2:15 AM to let me know he made it there safely.    As you have probably figured out....this is a post to remind us to be grateful for what is coming our way everyday.    Life isn't always perfect for us nor do we have any guarantees of everything going smoothly either.....but there is always something in our life that we can be grateful for if nothing else....waking up to another day in which to make good choices and re-take our life from a unhealthy one to a healthy one.    PLEASE feel free to share with us what you are grateful for today.    I am so grateful for my health, life and family.   That my middle son made it safely to Alabama and that he will have a good and productive week there.    For my friends both online and off.   Grateful for my faith and answered prayers that come my way everyday whether they are answered the way I want or not.    Grateful for support groups and all the encouragement and information given in them.    Grateful for Obesity Help, the upcoming New Orleans, La.   Conference....Sept. 9 - 10.   Have a blessed day.    Share with us all if you want to....we would love to hear what you are grateful for today.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
