Topic: Almost 1 week out
Well I am 6 days out from surgery. And I am FINALLY starting to feel human again. I actually slept in the bed half the night last night(well this morning actually)..I hadn't been able to because I end up on my side in the bed and it's been pulling....but I tried today and it WORKED! YAY! That was the best couple hours of sleep I've had since before surgery last week. I'm having a hard time with protein shakes, they make me sick...so I've been living off greek yogurt, which sucks because of the carb content but right now I'm more concerned about healing than losing so it's ok. I did get outside and walked for about 15 minutes today which made me feel much better.

My only concern is that my surgeon told me at my consultation appt that I have a small hernia near my belly button. We discussed it and decided that since I've never had any problems with it that he wouldn't mess with it as he would be doing everything above that area anyway. Well now I'm having pain in that area. Not necessarily that particular area just that whole section of my belly. I go for my post-op next wednesday. I've been watching the area for any changes and it's actually gotten a whole lot better over the last 2 days so I'm thinking it's just a coincidence and I've freaked myself out by reading so much on this and another forum site. If it gets worse I guess I will go ahead and call the coordinator and see if she thinks its something he should check out. The bad thing is I didn't even see my surgeon before being discharged from the hospital because he had been called in for emergency surgery and I had to get outta there in time to get my pain meds filled. So I was really annoyed when I saw my post op appt wasn't for 2 weeks!!

Wow, sorry this is so long. Just needed to get all that out for the sake of my sanity!! Thanks for reading!!! =)

As I mentioned in an earlier post I am in Las Vegas, and yesterday I did something I never imagined I would do. No I didn't get married or hit a jackpot but I jogged the entire Vegas strip.

I have been told the strip is 4 miles, so I did 8 miles in about 2 hours. I started at 4:30 am to beat the heat.

This post isn't written to toot my horn, but to stress to everyone when you think something is impossible, anything is possible- even the unimagined. It may take a while but remember YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

While the phone may be smart they user isn't so please excuse any typeos either self induced or from autocorrect

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

Topic: TUESDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you are having a great week.    MIne has been alright so far.   This is a post that is to remind everyone that no matter what is going on in our lives....whether good or bad....we ALL have something in our lives to be grateful for.   In this negative world that we live in it always helps to think of some positive things everyday.    PLEASE feel free to share with us what you are grateful for today.     Today I am grateful for my family.    I have  a wonderful husband that I have been married to for 34 yrs. and 3 grown sons....and one daughter in law.   My two older sons are both adopted and then we were blessed with our third son who is now 20 and he is a music minister in a church ( that is what he is going to college to get a degree in ).   I have 2 sons on college at the moment.   PLEASE share what you are grateful for today.

Hugs an blessings ~~~ Vivian

Topic: I'm 40 today!!!!
Today is my 40th birthday and I'm not a bit sad about it.  I'm not worried about getting old or thinking about how nice it would be to be 25 again....nope not me.  Why????

Because I look and feel better at 40 than I did at 20!!!  I'm at the lowest weight I have been in 20 years.  I'm off all my meds.  I run every day....I haven't ran since I was a little kid.  I feel light on my feet.

So when someone asked me why I'm so happy to turn 40...and I said why not, it's something to celebrate!!!

When I was 30 I was over 300 lbs and wore a size 28 and I could barely walk up my stairs to my apartment.
At 40 I am 205 lbs and I wear a size 14!!!

here's me at 37 years old...all bloated and weight 350+ lbs

Here's a picture I took of myself today.  No more double chin and you can see my cheek bones again!!!

Congrats to you first of all.  I would take Kim's advice and contact your doctor.  I did feel sore for a while after my surgery.  I had mine on the 3rd of May and I did feel extremely sore for a while.  The nausea did not happen for me, but everyone is different.  Good luck to you and keep us all updated.

Topic: Is this possible??
Good evening all,
I had my first fill last Friday.  My doc set a goal of 6lbs for me to lose by July 8th.  I can't believe that I am setting these goals with my doc and they may actually happen.  I did lose 20lbs after my surgery on the 3rd of May so I can realistically see this happening.  I am just trying to take it all in and want to know does anyone else have this feeling of disbelief?  I am so excited about every day and what achieving certain goals.  I am working out more and just so tickled about my journey.  I just wanted to share this feeling with you guys.  Thanks.
