See every doctor is different about caloric intake or diet restrictions.  Your doctor says 2 oz of protein and a 1/2 cup of veggies.  My doctor says 4-6 oz of protein and 1 cup of veggies.  That's why I say there really is no definite right or wrong.  First I would say how can someone feel satisfied with only 2 oz of protein and I would imagine it's hard if not impossible to get 60 grams of protein every day.  I eat more than what my doctor recommends.  He is against snacks in between meals, I eat snacks now.  Well in my workouts every day I was having problems with stamina and endurance (I am training to run in a 5k).  On the advice of some avid runners on the exercise board I decided to add a before workout snack (4 slices of apple and peanut butter).  Now I can run faster and longer.  Then I was reading about working out and how it's important to get some protein within 30-60 minutes after your workout.  So I added the after workout protein drink.   

I say if you are eating healthy it's ok to eat a few more ounces...especially if it will keep you from eating something worse later on, because you're so hungry.

  Good Morning my Friends,

Hope that everyone got a great nights sleep and are ready to start a fantastic day !!!   Life doesn't always give us SF Lemon aide.....sometimes it throws us sour lemons.    BUT just because it does doesn't mean we have to walk around with a sour look on our face or a sour attitude.    We ALL have so much to be grateful for even if it is just making it through the day.   I know some days are much tougher to get through than others.   But all in all we ALL have so very much to be grateful for in our lives.   After all...you are here on OH lurking or answering posts.    That is a accomplishment in itself.    Whether you are pre op or post op......you have had WLS or you are considering it or you wouldn't be here.    That is something to be grateful for today.    PLEASE share with us what you are grateful for today.   Here are a few of the things that I am grateful for today........

That I have all my limbs and that I can walk and run,
For the life that has been given to me,
For all the friends in my life who bless me daily by being my friend,
For TRUE friends who love you unconditionally,
For my Health and family,
For my husband and 3 sons and new DIL,
For Obesity Help and all the message boards here,
For my Faith and Answered Prayers,
For the beautiful sunshine and the moon that appears to us almost daily,
For the changing of the seasons,
For support groups that keep us on track,
For the people *****ply to this post daily and the ones who just read it,
For the upcoming OH Conference in New Orleans, La.   Sept. 9 - 10.

Topic: plateau already?
I am 3 months out (exactly) from surgery, and my weight is staying very constant. I have not really lost any weight for about a month now. Am I doing something wrong? Has this happened to anyone else? I would love your input. Thanks!

Aww...thanks for that encouraging message. Your are right. I CAN DO THIS! it's all down hill from here. I made it threw everyone eating in my face, and this is day 3 for me. Bring it on clear liquids!!! lol

Hi Chelsea,
I purchased these EAS AdvantiCarb protein shakes from Target and Walmart. They come in Vanilla, strawberry and Chocolate. They are okay...4 shakes in a carton. I was drinking the swanson chicken broth, but it was starting to smell to me, so I starting using the Top Ramon seasoning packets too. lol. Great minds think alike. Please, please, please DO NOT listen to your husband. You should be proud and KNOW THAT WE ALL HERE ON OH ARE PROUD OF YOU! Right, gang???? Do this for you and no one else. If your medical team feel you are doing well with your weight loss, who cares what your husband says! I am blessed to have a very supportive husband. I would not be able to do this without family support. Please know I am praying for you, too! Good luck...please keep us posted!

WOW..I am eating a LOT less than that! NO WONDER I do not feel satisfied after a meal. I was just told , depending on the type of meal, I am to eat 1/2(including 2 oz of protein), but if I am having, say, soup, 1 cup is the right portion because it is liquid. No wonder I am obsessed with food..I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!
