I am over 4 years out, and never had this problem.

While I don't think it's anything, I WOULD suggest going in and talking to the Doctor, and maybe get an xray. What you are feeling may NOT be the PORT but something else.

Good luck, and know we're here for you!!

Good Luck on your Journey !!

  Good Monday Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone has recovered from the busy weekend if yours was busy...mine was pretty busy.    Today I am grateful for my 3 adult sons (hate to admit they are all grown up even if my youngest still lives at home).    My sons are 30, 26, and 21.    My 21 yr. old is a college student who has 2 jobs and my 30 yr. just graduated college in Dec. and is about to enter into the Teach For America program.   As everyone has probably saw me post about my 26 yr.old son being in Teen Challenge for his drug addiction ( or should I say former addiction ).   I am going to be a first time grandmother in August.   I am SO proud of all 3 of my sons.  My 26 yr. old is going to college when he graduates Teen Challenge and pursue a career in Teaching school.    I am VERY proud of all of my 3 sons today.   PLEASE share with us if you will what you are grateful for.   There is ALWAYS something to be grateful for even if it is you are breathing.   Have a great day today.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Hello,
About 6 weeks after my surgery I started my excersise regimen and the first thing I felt was that pinch tugging feeling in my port site. I did not pay attention to it but whe I saw the doctor she put me on a restriction ( (no ab work)) So yes I am one of those that will not be able to do any crunches or abdominal work
hope that you will find a solution to this madness. perhaps it may get better with time. Keep a happy face....

It sounds like it may have been stitched too tightly. At 2 yrs out you shouldn't still be having the pulling sensation, that usually goes away in a few months. I'd talk to your surgeon again and see if he can't go in and restitch it looser. They might even be able to do it in office, not sure how involved it is but it sure beats not being able to do the exercise you love.

I am almost two months postop with the realize band and at this time I have no trouble doing crunches, zumba, or any exercises at the gym. The first four weeks I was sore, no doubt, but as I got back to my workouts the tightness lessened and I have not had problems since.
If you're having pain, I recommend finding a physician who cares that you are unable to exercise comfortably. I am sure the more you get back into your workouts the tugging will subside.

Topic: Unable to do core/ ab exercises bc of port.... Anyone?
Hi, I was hoping to hear from other ppl dealing with this to hear what they did...

I recently returned to the gym and when doing crunches I felt the port kind of tug... Later that day it hurt and was sore for a few days after..so I called my surgeon's office and was told that's not uncommon and that it was the abdominal muscles pulling against the stitches for the port... I am 2 years post- op so I asked what I could do to mitigate that, are there other exercises I can do to still work my core ?  I was told no, it will never stop happening and I should just avoid abdominal exercises period. Forever.

What?!

I am sooooo unhappy about this. Before surgery I was told I could still do Pilates, crunches, rtc with the band and I feel lied to.

Anyone else experience this tugging when exercising? How do you cope? Have you found abdominal workouts you can do that don't bother the port? Thanks!

Glad your back Tom.   I've missed Kim too.    Not sure if she is too busy living life to respond on here or if her health is giving  her issues again.   You both are in my prayers.    Good luck to you on getting off that re-gain.   it CAN and will be done by you I just know it.    Glad that your issues are cleared up now and that you can now re-focus on yourself.    Remember you ARE worth it.     Welcome back my friend.

Topic: FRIDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Friday Morning Everyone,

I'm so glad that friday has finally arrived although I truly don't know why.   LOL  I have no plans for today other than paying bills and a quick trip to the post office.    No weekend plans either.   LOL   I am truly grateful for this and so many other things.     My oldest son was accepted into the Teach America program yesterday and will be staying in our area ( thank God for that ).    We are expecting our first grandchild in August and I am thrilled that they won't be moving away from us with our granddaughter when she is born.      I am gratefiul for eay too many things in my life right now.    Even though I woke up this AM not feeling wonderful and took some sinus meds which I know usually send me packing to the doctor's office I am believeing that I will get better with it this time.   Gratefulness is sometimes a state of mind.   We choose everyday if we are going to be grateful for what comes our direction.    Life is full of choices and we have to try to make the correct choices and if we mess up.....we need to remember that life will be OK and that we can start over the next meal or the next day.   PLEASE share with us if you will what you are grateful for today and have a blessed day.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
