I lost 5 pounds the first 10 days after surgery and I remember being very disappointed. I had been so hungry I was sure I'd lost alot more than that and my dietition showed my how big a deficiet I had to lose that much weight and it help me see how far I had come. And remember is slow and steady wins the race. Good luck.

Hi, Congrats on the surgery!! 10 lbs in 10 days seems pretty good to me.. There isn't an average weight loss. Everyone loses differently and at a different rate. I would try not to stress over the number on the scale this soon. I have seen post on the boards with people that have gained weight the first week after surgery, mostly due to all the fluid intake, so I wouldn't be concerned since you had a loss. It sounds like you are doing great so far. Hang in there! Good Luck!

I had my surgery Jan. 5th and as of today I have lost 10lbs., however I feel that I should have lost more by now.  Is this an average amount of weight loss or should I be concerned?

You may want to avoid solid meat for a little while longer, and go for more solid soft foods, eggs, refried beans, cheese, sf pudding, etc. I know some other people that have been on the forum, have never had success with beef, so it may be a meat you just won't be able to eat. I have always been a fast eater as well, it took me awhile to get the hang of not scarfing my food down. Good luck!

Hi Ashley!
I am having issues with meat, more so beef. I've always been a very fast eater, so it's the whole cutting into smaller pieces and then making sure I am chewing it up really, really well is where I am having some issues. I actually had threw it up exorcist-style yesterday, so I stayed away from any solids for the rest of the day.

Topic: FRIDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Friday morning Everyone,

Hope everyone had a great week and is looking forward to the upcoming weekend.    I have no plans right now except a possible support breakfast tomorrow AM.    Today I am grateful for my health.    Before my WLS I was a really healthy fat person.    I was truly blessed by never having high blood pressure or anything else like that.   I had asthema and borderline becoming a diabetic but that was all.    I have had NO health issues at all in the 6+ yrs. since my WLS.    SO today I am SO grateful for my health.    I am grateful for so many other things in my life but I am going to try real hard to limit it to one a day so not to bore anyone with repeating them.   PLEASE share with us what you are grateful for today and please have a great weekend.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Congrats on your surgery! I'm sorry you are having a tough time.
I would try not to stress out about the fill, I didn't get mine until a little over 5 weeks out, I think it's best to wait so you can get use to how you are supposed to eat with the band so you won't have issues once you do have restriction.

If the food isn't aggreeing with you, it could be the type of food you are attempting to eat possibly. What happens exactly when you are trying to eat and what type of food is it? I would try not to stress out about the fill, I didn't get mine until a little over 5 weeks out, I think it's best to wait so you can get use to eating

I wouldn't recommend cutting off all contact with your fellow WLS buddies but maybe limit it for now until you get into the groove of your new lifestyle. I know it's hard to not compare yourself to them, especially when it comes to weight loss. Just remember everyone is different when it comes to the amount of restriction they get and how quickly they lose. Try to focus on you right now and try not to worry so much about them.

Hang in there!

Topic: THURSDAY GRATEFUL POST
  Good Morning Everyone,

This week is going by very quickly.   Can't believe it is already thursday.   Today I am so grateful for second chances.    I got a second chance at life with my WLS.   My life is SO much better since my WLS.    I am also grateful for all the WLS available for the choosing.    Grateful for insurance co. that pay for the surgeries too.    If anyone is considering surgery and have not made their mind up to get it done.     Just do it !!!!  This is the wisest decision that I have ever made in my entire life.   It will give you your life back and also give you your health back.    I am grateful for so very many things in my life but today I am only lising the two.   PLEASE share with us if you will what you are grateful for today.   Have a blessed day !!

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
