That's my plan..to get as much information as I can and to see if I can be connected with others that have had the procedure. Since it has been around greater than 10 years I am hoping there has been some improvement.
I promise to report back after seeing him tomorrow ...no matter if it is good or bad news.
I have been observing people getting this procedure for over 10 years. I have seen many people post about going for the procedure. I have never seen one of those people come back and post that they lost weight aftr the procedure.
Before going through this, ask your surgeon if you can speak with any of his successful patients. I would love to hear that this worked for you.

I am in the Maryland area also. Going to see Kumbhari at Johns Hopkins tomorrow concerning the same procedure ...super excited and anxious. Since you are 2 months out I was wondering if you could share how it is going with your weight loss? Are you happy with the procedure and results?

Hi, I had RNY 2003 at 357 lbs, lost to 145 for about 10 years, gained back to 246 over past 4-5 years. Had Overstitch procedure March this year, lost 10 lbs and have gained back plus some. I had the procedure for same reasons of not wanting to go thru big surgery again, insurance would not cover that procedure so paid cash total approx $6500. I read the reviews that it was not effective but thought I would have no problem. Wish I would not have wasted the money. Thought I would share, not trying to discourage you but just be informed, I never felt any restriction from the first day of having it done. I was careful and stuck to diet also.
I had a failed VBG 20 years ago. I have a hiatal hernia, Gerd, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Medicaid approved me and my revision is January 3rd. Hope this helps, good luck!
I'm not going to make any excuses. I messed up my original RNY by not following the program and not treating my sleep apnea. I lost 170lbs and have gained all but 50 back.
There are many surgeons, and others, who do not believe in revision surgery. Nonetheless, I'm in my last month of required weight loss and I have an endoscopy scheduled in January. I'm hoping to have revision surgery shortly after the endoscopy.
I'm happy with my surgeon. Dr. Stefanides, at IU Health North Bariatrics in Carmel, IN. My original surgeon does not perform revision surgery. Dr. Stefanides has published extensively on proximal to distal revisions as well as many other aspects of bariatric surgery. He holds a Ph.D. as well as his M.D. and is a faculty member at Indiana University School of Medicine where he teaches robotic and laparoscopic surgery.
From talking to him and my own research, one of the keys it seems, it the length of revised roux limb. Given the complex nature of the procedure, I couldn't be happier with my choice of physician.

I had a lap band in 2010. I went from 270 lbs down to 135. In 2015, my band slipped and was removed. I did fairly stable for 2 years, but following several life events, I started gaining 1 to 2 pounds a week and am now up to 250. I'm feeling very discouraged to find out that when the doctor removed my Lap-Band, the sutures that are put in to hold the band in place, were not removed. This is where they fold your stomach up over the band and Stitch it together. Apparently this makes any revision surgery more difficult and I'm worried about it because had the stitches been removed at the same time the lap band was removed, my anatomy would be back to normal. I am worried that this will make things more complicated and interfere with the ultimate outcome. Has anyone heard anything about this or have experience with it?
May I also suggest you post on your surgery type forum. Great support and they usually have a daily what are you eating thread. It's a great way to find new ideas for eating and be accountable for what goes in your mouth and if you moved your butt or not

HI EVERYONE, well I am 4 years out and I need help think I need a restart and just dont know were to begin. I gained 40lb back.. lost 125total. So feeling discourage. HELP PLEASE.. WHAT DO I DO. I FEEL LIKE A FAILURE.
