May I also suggest you post on your surgery type forum. Great support and they usually have a daily what are you eating thread. It's a great way to find new ideas for eating and be accountable for what goes in your mouth and if you moved your butt or not

I was not sure what surgery you had so here are the links to the RNY and VSG

Stay in touch, you can do this.

I get you are really upset and frustrated because you have a problem losing weight.

But, there is no reason to respond like that to the person that is trying to be helpful. I don't see and snarkiness in her response.

And she explained why she was asking about what are you eating and how much.

Unfortunately, plan based diet would have a lot of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates turn into sugar, and from that point the body does care if you gave it candies or starches.

Eating carbs makes me hungry. Like really hungry. Before I had my WLS I tried many diets. In late 90's plant based diet was supposed to be "the way to good health and weight". It did not worked for me that way. Under a naturopathic doc, I attempted really healthy plant based diet. That included vegetarians for 3-4 months, then vegan for snoanot 3-4 months. They diet -- while was great for my skin, made me gain a lot of weight, instead of losing. In 7-8 months I gained app 50 lbs total. My body made too much insulin and I was gaining, even though I felt hungry most off the time. And I was not cheating, or eating things like French fries, or other "unhealthy" vegan foods.

If what you doing, eating, it not doing what you hope it would do - it may be a time to rethink your approach to the diet. Revising to more malabsorbing type WLS - like DS, or ERNY, while you eat carbs may not help you lose more weight permanetly.

Topic: RE: Revision at Normal BMI

I had a revision from VSG to RNY on 10/15/18. I had a LOT of adhesions (my sleeve was stuck to my diaphragm and liver as was my small bowels). I also had an internal hernia repair. I had a lot of pain post op, but related to the adhesions. I had a hard time getting fluids/food down for about 6 weeks then it felt like overnight I got better. I could drink more and get more down at one time. I am generally feeling pretty good. I have lost about 20 lbs since the revision. My BMI is around 28. The funny thing is I have not lost any weight in the past 3 weeks. I would like to loose another 10 lbs, but seems I am in a big rut. I don't want to starve to get there, but I would have thought I would loose more.

You're eating a "salad" with about 8 cups of food in it, in one sitting?

Topic: RE: Lap Band to Gastric Sleev

I just had the revision surgery. My lap band had slipped and my reflux was the worst. So I decided to get the sleeve. It's been 6 days. I'm sore from the port being removed. I'm still having the reflux, even though I'm still on clear liquids. i was able to have both surgeries at the same time since there was no bad scar tissue from the lap band. Those are the only problems I'm having right now.

Topic: Rose Procedure or other Endoscopic Revision

Hi Folks

I had RnY surgery in 2002. It worked great and I lost 135lbs getting to within 18 lbs of my goal weight. It took about a year. In the interim I got pregnant and had my first son 14 months post surgery. Fast forward-2nd child born 19 months later. I regained 80 pounds of my weight loss by 2006. Combination of not following proper eating habits and I believe a pouch that was not made small enough or stretched.

I'm ready to try a second time and curious about endoscopic revision. I'm honestly scared of another regular surgery.

Has anyone had the endoscopic procedure? Did it help? Post procedure issues? Would you do it again?

Also-if anyone had a surgeon in NJ they recommend, I'd love to hear it. My surgeon isn't in NJ any more.

thanks!

in defense of this commenter, I don't feel like her response was snarky at all. She was just trying to help, like we all are. I occasionally see snarky comments around here, but this was not one of them. Maybe she didn't fully understand your situation or what you were asking for, but she wasn't being snarky.

Losing 50% of your excess weight is statistically a success by bariatric standards.

For someone 5'7" tall, a BMI under 25 is 159 pounds. 297-159 = 138 pounds of excess weight. 50% of that is 69 pounds. You have lost 77 pounds (56%) so statistically, you are considered a success.

Some studies I have seen show RNY patients lose on average 65% of their excess weight (that would be losing an additional 13 pounds for you).
