Hi I'm 25 year old and I'm have the sleeve surgery in March. I'm afraid of loose skin but your right al least I will be healthy I'm 242 pounds  and people don't believe it when they see me they think it less then that I just always had big breast and big butt my hole life. I use to be 145  3years ago.I gained weight after a emergency surgery double eptiopic pregnancy followed by depression. I have been dealing with high blood pressure for a year now and even though I'm hoping I don't have loose skin I'd rather be healthy and take control of me life and run around with my son who is 4 and is the only baby I can have since my tubes are gone after my emergency surgery. So who cares about the skin I want to live to see my son grow up and be able to be fully active with him.

Hi everybody :)
I'm 19 and I am planning on having Gastric Bypass within a year once I've gone through everything my insurance requires. I'm very worried about having loose skin post surgery and i'm hoping to find out as much as I can within the next 9ish months before surgery, to prevent this. I'm only 19 and I want to know whats its like to have a nice body for once.. I dont want to go from having a fat unattractive body, to a skinny unattractive body. I'm going to try anything and everything and hopefully I will not have to turn to more surgeries. I also have another question that might be weird..Im a DD and i'm worried that not only I will end up losing all my boobs, but left with loose skin in place of them :/ any thoughts on that?

Zombie posts (posts resurrected from the past) often have double the normal views..... DOUBLY resurrected posts have even more... this particular post appears to have been resurrected no less than four times.... it's now at 9000 views

you can't UNGROW skin that has grown.....exercise or not, it's there until it's chopped off.

Responded to someone else but it ended up as a response to you.

At 19 you have the advantage of age.... but a lot of it depends on how MUCH excess weight you have and WHERE you carry it. YOU might get lucky, and you might not

In the end though, you already have the skin, so the question is do you want it filled with fat or hanging loose....whcih one is the better scenario

Here's my skin post:

The notification of your post came to my mailbox, but here you can't tell you were responding to me. Similarly, I PM'd someone the other day, and it came to me with no reply from her, so I can't tell if it got to her. Gremlins messin' around in the OH boards.

To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over again the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives. -- Thoreau

Oh good, at least you KNOW it was meant for you.

Wonder how many hurt feelings this has generated? People saying things that, when taken out of context, sound AWFUL

3 years ago, KateMM1975 posted about cocoa butter and water aerobics, recommended by a physician @ Vanderbilt U. but does anybody have more info on that post, or similar possibilities for the non-surgical avoidance/minimization of excess skin after RNY? We googled the topic, using Vanderbuilt U & water aerobics & cocoa butter & excess skin and basically came up with KateMM's post.

My wife is 65, will be having RNY this summer, expects to lose 100+ lbs., and already has some problems with irritation under some skin folds.

We also posted this as a response to the original post, so please excuse the double entry.

All water aerobics and cocoa butter will do is keep the skin well hydrated.  Nothing more.

i was recently chatting with someone on the verticalsleeve site and she suggested to me:
Flax seed oil in liquid form to tighten skin cells
soaking in epson salt baths she suggested Dr. Teals Bath Salts
(walmart)
exfoliating at least 3 times a week so new skin can grow
and Palmers Lotion that pregnant women use for stretch marks

my doctors told me exercise of course and the most magical skin tightener is Water cuz it has something to do with skin cells i honestly dont remember just loads and loads of Water!

idk yet since im only 3 days out but i have 300lbs to go and will try anything i can! ^_^
