Being hot or cold after the WLS - Poll
I guess I am a freak of nature. I am hot all the time. i needed to start HRT - so i can function.
I was hopping that the winter would be better for me - cold. But the problem is that at home i cna keep my house at 64-66. But as soon as I get to work - I am misserable - I am so hot, and that's at 72- 74. My coworkes (one that shares my thermostat) will hate me by the end of the winter.

It's just you and me though I think from reading the responses!I was HOT all teh time when I was thin, I was HOT all the time before my hysterectomy (I had a hysterectomy at a very young age due to ovarian cancer). I was HOT when I was on HRT
I was even MORE hot and miserable when I got fat, was ultra HOT when I was on prednisone and a dozen other meds for my autoimmune diseases.
After WLS I am STILL miserably hot. (My Mom was the same way, and my Son is the same too). It must be "genetic".
"Comfortable" for me would be laying NAKED in a snowbank...Seriously. If I am in any tempreture OVER 73 I am hot, miserable and wearing just shorts and a sleeveless shirt. At night I need teh ceiling fan and anothe fan on me at all times or I sweat like a rag. (Even as a KID I was like that, and I was a skinny kid).
I really think it is genetic. My thyroid and everything is "normal" according to my labs, (Even though I am on Synthroid) as I said, my Mom, my Grandpa and my son are the same way, that tells me it probably has to have a genetic component?

have you feeling of hot - cold - changed since the surgery? Yes
have you been hot or cold after the surgery? CCCCCCCCCCOLD!!!!
when did you notice that? I'm not sure when it started; probably when I had lost a lot.
what is the room "comfortable temperature for you?" I don't like it TOO hot or TOO cold. Maybe low 70s?
The only time I'm HOT is when I get hot flashes! I have to wear multiple layers.... sometimes I go to bed in two t-shirts, a sweat shirt, sweat pants and socks AND with the quilt over my head!

Have you feeling of hot - cold - changed since the surgery? Yes, quite a bit
Have you been hot or cold after the surgery? COLD!
When did you notice that? About 1 week Post-Op
What is the room "comfortable temperature for you?" I STILL LIKE A COOL FEELING, maybe 65-70...
For the last 10 or so years I don't think I was cold twice (and this is through many different weights). I craved cold.... it felt so good to me. Now I am just freezing below 60!!
But I will always choose cold over hot... at least with cold you can put a jacket on... hot is maddening!!!

I am pre-op and already have the problem of being cold most of the time. It was a LOT worse before my low thyroid was diagnosed and I got thyroid medicine. My hands often get VERY cold in between meals... for years that has been one of the signs I've used to indicate "real" hunger (versus head hunger). I'm going to freeze my booty off after the surgery! I've got the thermostat set on 74 right now... it's probably a bit colder than that in the room I'm in. I'm freezing!
have you feeling of hot - cold - changed since the surgery? Most definitely
have you been hot or cold after the surgery? COOOOOOOLLLLLDDDD!!!!!!!!
when did you notice that? Almost from the beginning
what is the room "comfortable temperature for you?" I like in the mid to high seventies. I keep a heater on at work in my office, and fingerless gloves. And drink a lot of hot tea to warm me up. And wear a lot of long sleeve shirts. And scarves. I love scarves!
