Yes, it is very MUCH like waiting for someone you care about deeply to die...
The worst part is that, since she is retiring, I will likely not even see her at professional functions (which was something I thought would be there to comfort me when the time came to discontinue counseling with her).
I am grateful, though, that I have a couple of months to work with her to prepare for the end. It has just been a very sad, teary 24 hours.
