Easter Candy - I don't want you anymore!
Stopped in the local candy shop to get the nephews and nieces some Easter treats, plus my mom wanted a maple nut egg. Weird thing - not once did I think, "oh I wish I could have this." What a cool feeling. I do love jelly beans - so I got a small box of the Jelly Belly sugar-free. I know- wasted calories, etc. - but they are hitting the spot and will be my Easter thing to look forwad to for years to come. So bye bye PB Eggs - you don't rule me anymore!
Anyone else do the Jelly Bellies?

That is a good thing.....NOW....but in a few years you may have found that you can have some.....and guess what??? That is okay! I live by the anything I want in moderation rule (and I do not dump).
For the first year I was 98% compliant....I did exactly as I was told...when I hit goal at 1 year, I then relaxed a little and now live by the 80/20 rule...I'm compliant 80% of the time. So far, I've maintained the same weight for a year now. I also exercise a lot so I guess that allows me to get away with more.
For now, it is good to stay away from it....but you may not have to stay away forever. Oh, and be very careful with the sugar free candy....it can have some nasty bathroom effects on ya!

oh if it gets me into the bathroom - I will be a fan for life!!!!
Or, it could just give you incredibly painful gas.
I do get SF items on occasion bu****ch the sugar alcohols. I'm with Kim on the treats though. Just that the sugar alcohols can have a worse consequence than real sugar (for me). I do dump, but 1 small cookie or snack size chocolate isn't enough to do it. So, I'll have just 1 of the real thing.

Thanks so much for posting. As a relative newbie, I'm very careful and eating according to my surgeon's plan. I don't have trouble with food cravings, and it hasn't been terribly difficult to eat only the right things. I sometimes feel discouraged though when the veterans post that they never eat sugar, or white flour, or pasta, or bread, or fast food, etc. I know that those things need to be seriously limited, and I'm good with that. I just don't want to live the rest of my life without ever tasting any of those things. When newbies post that they've had some of these things, they are sometimes chastised by the more seasoned members of this board.
Don't get me wrong: I'm committed to changing my eating habits, and I don't want to do ANYTHING that will jeopardize my long term success. But I do feel a little part of me rebelling at the thought of never being able to have a small slice of pizza (WITH the crust) or a taco (WITH the tortilla) or 3 bites of my son's wedding cake this summer. It was refreshing to hear that you can and do indulge occasionally and have still been able to be successful. I hope that there are others who've had this same success. And I hope I can be one of them some day as well.
Thanks for posting your experience.

Jenni I do the moderation thing too and have since the beginning. I'm doing great! I could probably lose 10 more pounds if I totally cut out everything fun and yummy, but I don't want to live like that. I could also lose 10 pounds if I had a tummy tuck, but that's not happening either so looks like I'm staying where I am, and guess what? At a size 10 I'll take it! I was in a tight 28 the day of surgery.
I know people say "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" but some stuff tastes better to me than going down to a size 6 or 8; so I basically do the 80/20 thing too.
You'll find your spot. I think you are def headed in the right direction with the 3 bite idea - . I dump, so when something is sweet and I REALLY want it, I limit myself to 3 to 5 bites.
SO, SO happy with my RnY and my life/body right now. I'll never again be a size 6, but there is so much more to life for me now than a dress size.
Good luck on your journey. =)

LOL on the Cadbury egg - those things really get to me sometimes. I've learned to just eat the "guts" since that's my favorite part and I dump anyway so I try to keep that in mind too.
Why do they have to make things that are so incredibly yummy?
I don't know how folks who deprive themselves completely do it.
