UPDATE: WTF
I went to emergency room and then to my surgeons because I have had been having extreme pain in my left lower side of my abdomen. I was told that I am still healing and I need to work through the pain, WTF. I am hurting so bad and he didn't give me any meds for the pain. He told me to take ten more days off of work as well. I was also told that I am not losing enough weight. I don't know what I could be doing wrong. I was 330 before preop and now I weigh 293. I only eat what I am alowed to eat and I can't even keep down every meal. I try to walk but have not really walked as much as I should have because of this damn pain in my side. I am so mad right now. What should I do.....
Gosh, if it were me, I'd consider another opinion. I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that losing 37 lbs. in less than a month is awesome! It's more than I lost, and my doctor was happy with my amount of weight loss. Beside that, if you are having significant pain and your doctor is blowing you off, that would be a red flag to me. I had pain in my lower left side about 2 weeks post-op which turned out to be the beginning of an infection. I was on antibiotics for 10 days which totally cleared it up and I had no pain after that. Not to say that's what you have, of course. There can be multiple reasons for pain, but I still think it bears investigating, not just dismissing.
Your Dr.'s reviews are not so great in that another person complained about being blown off too.
Healing pain is normal. of course, and you are a very fresh surgery, but I wonder... what did the ER say about your pain?
If you want to give your healing parts a break, I would try to just drink protein and eat very soft or pureed foods... even if your Dr. does not require that.
The comment that you have not lost enough weight is just 100% off base, in my opinion!

I know that my Dr. had 1 bad review on OH but he is known as a good surgeon in my area and that is why I chose him. I don't like what he said to me at all but I will trusty him for now about the pain being still from surgery. When I went to the ER they said that everything looks normal. I had a CT scan, blood work and an urine analyze. They did find a small cellulitis and an abscess. They said they the same thing the surgeon said basically. They did give me an antibiotic just in case. The ER and Surgeon are not related, two different hospitals.
Well, I'm glad the ER gave you an antibiotic. Abscesses are nothing to scoff at. I had surgery 2 years ago with a really bad abscess that was trending towards sepsis....
Don't think your surgeon had his head screwed on right when he said you haven't lost enough weight. I've "only" lost 13 lbs since surgery and am over the moon with that progress....
Dialing back on what you're eating might help with not being so hard on your system. Going back to full liquids might be easier than pureeds, if you're on that stage. Make sure you're doing your liquids & proteins, maybe even go over limits of what you were doing. At this stage, exercise isn't as necessary as it will be later but if you can tolerate it..... I sure know I can't just yet! Are you taking liquid tylenol at least? I had some bad pain last week (likely due to gas) and was totally out of pain meds from my surgeon so even started taking tylenol gelcaps (since the liquid tylenol taste was grossing me out).

I had my RNY on 4/20 and do experience some pain in the same area you describe. I did a little gardening and that made matters worse. I had some left over liquid codiene and took a low does of that and it seemeds to have taken the edge off the pain. The more I move the better I feel.
I would recommend walking a couple of times a day. It is amazing how it helps.
