Is it okay for me to lie?
My surgery was the same day as yours. Granted, I am a considered a "light weight" from the weight loss community, but I only lost 5 lbs the first week, and now 8 lbs total (11 days later), I am thrilled it is coming off at all. 10 lbs in the first week sounds awesome to me, Great Job! Remember everyones story is different, some people didn't have to lose any weight proior to surgery and some people didn't have any sort of a pre-op diet either, those people of course are going to have better results at first, as compared to someone who has already lost a ton of weight. It seems unfair, but it will be ok. The end results should be the same, and look at the head start you've already got because you lost so much weight prior. That is something to be proud of!
If you have to say anything, just tell them you are following your doctor's orders regarding eating amounts and types of food. So many families equate showing love with providing food and they get their feelings hurt if their food isn't eaten by everyone around. But that is their issue not yours, so don't fall into their trap. You could also take a small serving, move it around on the plate and then take it to the trash when you have the opportunity. Don't let others control or dictate to you anything that is not in your best interest. Take control for yourself. You will be happier in the long run. And more successful on this journey.
