Buying clothing (preop)
My local thrift store frequently has $5 bag sales, so I bought a variety of different sizes of things that I thought were cute and I would wear.
However... I ended up donating most of it back without even wearing them at all! I went through sizes that fast, and if I weren't constantly trying things on then I would just completely bypass the sizes and miss wearing them. I bought a ton of really cute summer skirts in a size 10 (it's only $5 for whatever you can fit in a bag!!) thinking that would probably be where I ended up... well I just donated all those cute skirts back because I'm currently at a size 2/4 and I couldn't even have them taken in to fit me. It was a waste of time and money.
One big tip - buy it as you go, and never buy your current size or even one size down. Only buy things 2 sizes down from your current size as you are losing. By the time your current clothes get baggy enough to decide to change sizes you will have bypassed the next size and will already need that 2nd size down. I promise. I seemed to skip every other size.

rny on 12-15-10 now 5 months out i went from a 26 to a loss 16. i would buy 2 pairs of jeans (either new or good will) wear them until they would not stay up anymore and then go shopping again. i did the same thing with shirts. (have not bough as many shirts b/c i can still wear them big, but nice fitting shirts is good to have so i have a few)
