Well, I'm still battling insomnia.  I did get some valarien root and melatonin yesterday and took it with my other nitetime meds last nite.  It seemed to help.  I do have to do an over nite oximetry tonite.  I hope my oxygen levels are good because I do not want to have to go back to the CPAP again.  I do have hot flashes, but they do not wake me up...still...how much of this sleep problem do you think is from menopause?  TIA

Hi. I am not sleeping either! I haven't slept really good in years, I think a lot has to do with my weight, I do NOT have sleep apnea but I do snore a little, in the past few years, and I toss and turn all night. Sleeping a little then having to move cuz too much weight on one hip or the other makes it hurt. Since my surgery I have barely slept at all! I lay in bed tossing and turning, cursing my hubby sleeping soundly beside me, and maybe fall asleep by 3 or 4 am. Only to be woken at 6:15 by the alarm. I consulted my PCP and she suggested melatonin. I tried it and fell right to sleep by was wide awake by 1:00am. SUCKS!!! If you come up with anything brilliant, let me know!

Highest weight :412, Weight on surgery day (5/2/11): 370.

I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea pre-op and given Ambien for insomnia. I have chronic insomnia, often due to stress. I've never slept better with Ambien and did develop some tolerance to it but surprisingly it's still working postop. I know lots of people swear by the CPAP and find it makes them more rested. My husband hasn't noticed me snoring since surgery. Not sure if the sleep specialist will want me to repeat the study postop but I'll probably follow up with him once I'm out of refills....
