Kelly, i take calcium citrate pills. A serving is 2 pills and so i take 2 in the morning and 3 at night with my multi to get to 1500mgs. Is it ok to take it this way or should i take 2 in the am, 2 in the pm and the other one somewhere in the day?

I would not take more than 500-600 mg at one time.  That's what we can absorb - the exact amount may vary from person to person, but it's a good rule of thumb.  I might only be able to absorb 502 mg at once and you might absorb 524 mg at once.

My surgeon just revised his rule book and he now says not to take the calcium along with the multi-vitamin.  I haven't quite figured out why this is....

I don't really factor any calcium in from the multi that I take and I didn't think the calcium interfered with any of the vitamin absorption from my multi so I was a bit perplexed...

Any ideas on this??

Is there iron in the multi?  If there is iron in it, taking it with calcium would block the absorption of the iron.

Oh, no problem.  I've actually posted this before.  I just post it every now and then when I think people need reminded.

I had bought a calcium chews from Shoppers Drug Mart (Life Brand)  and realized after being on here that it had the wrong kind of calcium in it so, today I was in Costco and found a liquid it is called
"Wellesse"
Calcium-1000mg (citrate and phosphate tribasic),
phosphate-200mg (calcium phosphate tribasic),
Vitamin D3-1000UI (cholecalciferol)
per 2 Tablespoons.  It is natural citrus flavor.
Do you think this will be OK?
Thanks for your help.

You'll absorb the citrate in it but not the tricalcium phosphate.  So if you can figure out how much citrate is in it and only count that, that would work.  Otherwise, find one that is only citrate.
