Stuff to Know About B12

Please re-read what Kelly said. The liquid isn't going to be absorbed properly. You need to do sublingual, shots or a patch. The sublinguals are easy as heck. I do the 500 mg daily and haven't had any issues.

Just want  to verify what Kelly wrote   There are sublinguals that dissolve under the tongue,

I have the B-12 that you use from a dropper and put under your tongue--is this not the right kind?   Please let me know how you use the sublinguals, as I thought by putting it under your tongue was ok.

Thanx!

I work with a neurologist, and i have seen people come in that could barely walk because of a lack of B-12. They come to us because they don't know what's wrong with them. Alot of times their PCP thinks that they may have MS and send them to us. It is amazing to me how much B-12 levels seem to be over looked.

Don't pay attention to people who make comments that you are "doling" out medical advice. I am one who would be taking the wrong supplements without your advice, and if you go back and look at the first comment, you will see that she was doing a little "doling" out herself.

Yes, she was.  I just want people to be informed.  I want them to make their own decisions but I want them to have the necessary information to make the decision.  So if someone is informed that was can't absorb calcium carbonate and they choose to keep taking it, that's their right.  They can.  I don't get why they would, but they can.  Or they can take no calcium at all (which is about what they're doing with the carbonate, but they have that right).  I just want to make sure people have the right information.  I'm about informed consent.

Also, from the feedback I get here, many people want the information.  There are a few that might wish I would stop doling it out, but you know, they don't have to open my posts like these if they don't like to read them.  It appears many people appreciate the info.

Kelly,

I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better!!!

The info you provide is ALWAYS appreciated!  In the two years since my RNY, I've learned so much from you!   Between you and Andrea and Pam, I learned much more than from my surgeon,  Thanks for being there!

I think your right about people not knowing they have a defficiency, my mother has never has WLS and went and got hers checked because of memory loss and tingling in her hands and feet and she has been getting the shot for about 15 yrs now. It really makes a huge difference in her energy level too. After the shot she feels great and at the end of the month she tires out so easily.
 Thanks for the info :)

Kelly, thank you for the info! I'd been taking B12 daily subling. even though my surgeon questioned if I shouldn't be taking it every other day. I take 1000mcg and levels are on the low side of normal - so guess that shows we should pay attention to our bodies and ASMBS.....
