BMI

I just checked with the BMI calculator, and at the begnning of all this I had a BMI of 57. Ouch! Now I'm done to 44, wow! And I also checked, in order to get to the 'normal' range, I have to be 170 pounds, I'm almost 6 feet tall, for godsakes.... With size 12 feet. Is that even possible?? I'll be skin and bones! My goal is set at 185, so if my BMI is still in the 'overweight' range, so be it. At least it's not in the 'Super Morbidly Obese range, where I started 8 months ago. Wow. Have a great Monday!

Acceptance is sometimes the hardest thing. We get so fixated on numbers and lose sight of the biggest goal - health! If you're healthy at 185, awesome b/c it's a heck of a lot better than being SMO. Congrats on your loss!!

BMI are wrong indications for formally obese peopleor for people with large frame and more muscles. .  That is my opinion as well as opinion of many scientists .  google that.

What is more important is body fat %.  It can be tested or estimated.   Google that.

When I lost so much weigh that my BMI was in normal (24.5) I did not look healthy nor did I feel good. But then - my body fat % was 16-17%.  Way too low for my frame and my age,  Now - I am BMI  technically overweight, but with size 8 clothes and body fat % just 20%... I am fit, athletic.  Bones, muscles and some fat... enough for me to feel "normal" again.
Use comon sense what your goal shall be.

I hear ya! I'm 5'2" and my "normal" range is 101-136 pounds.  If I'm 137, I'm overweight. LOL.  I set my goal at 140 because I've been there and know that I look good and thin at that weight.  I am very muscular, so I was never a lightweight. Even when I was a runner in high school and wearing a size 4, I was 118 at my lightest.

So like you said, if I get to my goal I'll still be "overweight", but so be it! I'll be healthy and happy. If I get any lower than 140, that's the sugar-free icing on the proverbial cake. ;)

BTW - Congrats on the 13pt drop in your BMI! Awesome!
